Website and App issues - can't use membership

I absolutely love Curzon Victoria and have been a member for a few years but over the past few months the website and app haven't been working across multiple fronts which means I can't book a ticket and use my membership! I have reported on various occasions and take weeks to resolve each time. I don't understand how a company can operate like this. So sad as I really wanted to support this cinema chain.

Premium price, not a premium experience

Paid a premium of £55 annual membrrship for 5 tickets which is a high price, but felt like giving it a go with all that Curzon advertised

On going, I asked to order drinks mid film at Oxford so that we did not miss any of the film

I was told by one of the 2 girls behind the bar (with no customers) that they could not as they were short staffed

This is always the case, I will not be renewing my membership and will go to the more local Cineworld cinema once I have used my tickets

Premium price but unfortunately not a premium service or experience

The website is so annoying

The website is so annoying! 30 films with no age ratings or description which might not even be showing at your local cinema. Even when you save your local it doesn't edit. I have to use a different site to see what is on! Ridiculous when tickets are so expensive.

No refunds or exchanges! Really on tickets this pricey

I like Curzon cinemas and frequently attend to watch live or recorded performances of the Royal Ballet. I had tickets booked 15 December to do just that, but unfortunately was unable to attend. On my ticket there was no information about cancellation and so I e-mailed 3 days prior to the showing indicating I wanted to cancel and how to get a refund. I received no response after 8 days and so went to the website to contact them. Only then did I read that there are no refunds (or exchanges) permitted. When two tickets cost the best part of £50 it is poor not to offer any refunds. Will be very cautious about booking anything too far in advance (if at all) anymore.

Curzon website needs improving

I love Curzon cinemas - sophisticated with an air of exclusivity and the new Kingston venue in Bentalls shopping centre is superb. By why do Londoners get penalised with the price for Classic membership simply because you may live in London? Cinemagoers in London are also low waged, freelance and struggling like anywhere else. £70 for 5 movies - even with discounts on food and drink (which isn't the reason most visitors are going to the cinema) isn't a good deal. Works out at around £14 a film. My main gripe is the website. Overly complicated and maddening when trying to find a film's venue. Please please start simplifying it. The Odeon doesn't have such an irritating navigating system. That said when you finally do manage to book a ticker, the Curzon experience - esp the staff - is the best.

The Gift membership is BAD!

The Gift membership is ridiculously bad! Bought as gifts this weekend to take advantage of the Black Friday 7 tickets for 5 offer. However, you have to register the membership in the peoples names, so not only does it start a month before Christmas when I want to give the gift, the people now know what they have got! AND when I log on, its only saying 5 tickets available and not 7! Spent 20 minutes now listening to the same blinking Lighthouse Family song on repeat trying to get through to customer services, so far without any luck! Utter rubbish!

Website does not work

Website does not work, constantly glitches, can't select seats, asks me to refresh, completely unusable. Cancelled my membership as a result, has been going on for ages.

Terrible website

Terrible website: impossible to book smoothly, glitches, tells you to refresh browser etc. This has been going on for years, and was 1 of the reasons I cancelled my membership.
A shame as the Bloomsbury Curzon is really comfortable and pleasant.
Considering cinemas are probably on their way out due to streaming, why would Curzon make it harder to book a ticket? Especially as the tickets aren't cheap. Put some of that profit into a functional website!

I was blown away by the customer…

I was blown away by the customer service o experienced. I decided to risk taking my tired 3yo to the cinema but after getting tickets realised it was not going to go well. Even though they were perfectly in their rights to say sorry but you bought the tickets there isn’t anything they can do. They did the exact opposite and refunded me the full amount.

It was a real act of kindness in a world where we are usually met with ‘computer says no’ it made a huge difference to me I definitely be rebooking.

I love seeing films at Curzon Cinemas and my experience with customer services today was excellant - how refressing to actually be able to speak to someone on the phone who resolved an issue quickly without any fuss.

Home Cinema waste of time…

we tried watching a film on the home cinema site using one of our membership credits. It not only costs twice as much as if we had just paid for it, we were unable to access the film. The site asked us about 10 times to verify that we were not a robot, then locked us out. Frustrated and angry we gave up. Most films are on Netflix or Prime now so I don't see any point to Curzon home cinema. I did contact Curzon but they just told us to try again. Hopeless.

Unable to redeem credits after purchasing membership

Impossible to redeem credits to book a movie to watch at our local cinema. After purchasing a membership and trying to book tickets online it has only given me a membership discount but still asking me to pay for tickets I spent over an hour trying to purchase the membership and I am still not able to redeem my free tickets. Will need to visit the venue tmw and hopefully they will be able to help. Very disappointing as I was hoping to reserve some good seats from home but sadly I still need to go to the cinema before the screening as the online membership doesn't work... I don't bother purchasing it in the future online. Waste of time.

Recently joined as a Cult member

Recently joined as a Cult member, which is excellent value. The selection of films is brilliant (with many not widely available elsewhere), the staff are friendly, the customer service line answered my questions efficiently, the food and drinks are much better than other cinemas, and there is a good choice of venues in London. The downside is leg room in some smaller screens at Bloomsbury, which is limited and uncomfortable, and the app and website are a bit glitchy. Otherwise, overall I’m loving the experience and opportunity to see so many high quality films in lovely surroundings.

The Curzon at Westgate in Canterbury

We went to the Curzon at Westgate in Canterbury last Saturday . We often go on the last Saturday of the month as Luke Smith plays the piano for a couple of hours.
Tyche and Emily are always very friendly and professional. Tyche make the best hotdogs, my husband is American so knows a good hotdog.

Curzon Home – contempt for the audience

After years of complaints to Curzon – starting at the time they had a Smart TV app – of not willing to watch films on laptop (seriously, who TF would want that?), they now have moved under the umbrella of Amazon Prime – so I added Curzon subscription to my Amazon package since I have it anyway. Curzon DGAF about their customers: the films on Curzon’s website are not reflected in what’s available via Amazon. One film I was particularly interested in appeared on Amazon Prime nearly a month after it was listed on Cuzron’s www – and is still not available within my subscription and Amazon asking me to pay to watch it. From my experience Curzon over the years demonstrated the could not care less about their on-line audience. Customer service ignoring complaints now. Cancelled my subscription, will not be looking back.

Hugely disappointed with Aldgate screenings

The same movie is shown at Baby Club Aldgate screenings week after week! It supposed to be a different movie every Wednesday!
Customer service gave no relevant answer when were contacted about this issue.
Very disappointed and already talked my friend out of getting a membership.

Broken website and shady tactics

Honestly don't know how Curzon get away with having such a horrendous website for so many years. Given the prices they charge it is shocking that they clearly haven't invested anything in the website for a very very long time. Where is all the money going?

Here is a list of the problems I have had with the website over the last several years, all of which remain an issue:

- If booking a free ticket as a member but also buying a non-member ticket at the same time, the website will claim there is no booking fee but then 50% of the time you will still be wrongly charged it anyway. I have an e-mail template that I use to request a refund for this every time because it's so frequent. Why have they not fixed this for years?

- The website straight-up won't work on several mainstream browsers with common extensions. I use Edge solely for buying Curzon tickets because it is the least likely to bug out on Curzon's website (but still inevitably does)

- There is nowhere on the website (outside of fine print) that explains you cannot "top up" your 5 classic membership tickets within a year. Far worse, if you attempt to buy a new membership thinking this will give you a top up, the website just breaks completely instead of simply explaining what the issue is. Completely baffling lack of attention to the user experience.

- Sometimes the booking process will hang and become unresponsive indefinitely, and after refreshing the page the transaction goes through but your card is charged twice. Back on the phone to suppport! Again, this was forgivable 20 years ago but simply a symptom of shoddy engineering today.

- If one of the many bugs causes the booking process to hang and forces you to try a different browser - even though you're using the same account - your previously reserved seats will be un-selectable until your bugged session times out. This wouldn't be a huge problem if it wasn't for all the ways the session can and will bug out; but even so a competently built website would recognize you have an in-process transaction on your account and allow you to resume it instead of locking you out from the seats you had previously chosen

- This isn't a bug but just a scum tactic which should not be tolerated by anyone, especially in 2024: there is no way to cancel your membership using the website. This is the kind of crap shady websites were pulling 10 years ago, and to think that the Curzon partakes in this pathetic cash-grab is just unacceptable. How much profit do they make doing this? Is it worth it for making themselves look like absolute scoundrels?

On top of that the website is just awkward to navigate, loads slowly, has loads of issues on mobile.

This would all be forgivable if this was 20 years ago and the de facto way to book a ticket is in person on by phone, but for such a dominant cinema chain to have these problems in 2024 is frankly embarrassing.

Finally, note how they aren't responding to anyone's complaints on Trustpilot. They don't give a damn, they're just a big faceless cinema chain nowadays that masquerades as your friendly local arthouse cinema. Sadly where I live we have 2 Curzons and no other choice.
