I purchased the DCW620NT-XJ Router and it came with a 12mm and 8mm collet not the standard 1/2" and 1/4". This has now cost me £100 more to get the fittings. Dewalt stated each retailer sells... See more

Useless online chat customer service
Useless online chat customer service. Contacted them with what you would have thought to be a relatively straightforward product enquiry, does their new DCD800 drill come in any kits with batteries and or an impact driver. The agent named 'Ace' (yes really) who had a weak grasp on the English language couldn't answer this, uhm'd and ah'd via chat, tried to contact someone else, then said they'd get someone to contact me and never did. DeWalt make good products but seriously need to do something about their online customer service.
Bad bad experience bought some drills…
Bad bad experience bought some drills less then a year old went for repair came back 10 times worse now I’m out of pocket and work dewalt have given me nothing but false promises and still not sorted been going on over a month asked about it the repairs team was so rude and unprofessional very very rude please don’t buy off these petty scammers
No reply to email
I bought a dust extractor without the battery. So far, so good. I asked ... "Please can you state what is the maximun run time battery for the DEWALT DCV501LN 18V dust extractor?" ... This was so I could purchase a battery.
I received a reply stating the 5.0Ah battery (which is the standard). I re-worded my question to ask what about the larger batteries they sell. 8 days later and no reply.
Well I'm another customer who will switch to Ryobi (their Truspilot score is 4.5 & Dewalt is 1.3)
I have waited over a week for my drill…
I have waited over a week for my drill to be picked up for repair, nobody replies to emails, customer service people promise to get back but don’t I am now left with a situation where I need the drill for work, so will have to try to use it. Also it was supposed to have been picked up yesterday 27/02/25 but nobody came.
DeWalt XR 18v Multitool/Chainsaw Failures…
I purchased a DeWalt XR 18v Multitool some time ago. After 13 months of very light use, it failed. DeWalt Customer "Service"(?) refused to honour the 3 years guarantee, stating that I had not registered for the extended warranty. OK, I have (expensively) learned.... More recently, I purchased a DeWalt XR 18V chainsaw. I claim that I registered it for the 3 year extended warranty. It has recently completely failed and AGAIN DeWalt refuse to honour the warranty. Dreadful Customer "Service", poor quality and poor reliability product(s) in my experience and opinion. NEVER buy DeWalt.
whatever you do, NEVER buy a Dewalt product.
Bought a faulty product from Amazon.
Amazon said I had to contact Dewalt directly as it was supplied by Dewalt.
Dewalt said it had not been made in the UK, so although all packaging was in English and said Dewalt all over it, they were not prepared to help in any way!
With customer service at this level, I only have one recommendation - whatever you do, NEVER buy a Dewalt product. You will get rubbish quality and zero customer support.
Very very bad! ☹️
Dewalt removed registered tools from warranty
I bought a hammer drill with two 5amp batteries from Screwfix as they had an offer on.
I got told by the sales guy at Screwfix to register the drill to extend the warranty to 3 years.
So i attempted that but in Dewalts website where it needed to be registered it was only showing the drill with two 4amp batteries, it did not have the latest offer on.
So i didn't want to miss out on the warranty and did the model with the two 4amp batteries and since the warranty does not cover batteries i thought it would be ok
Several months down the line and Dewalt removed the drill from warranty, now i have contacted their live chat and been in contact through email for MONTHS and i keep getting told they are escalating the issue and it will get sorted
This should have been an easy fix but after near 3 months they still haven't sorted it.
I have been in contact with them almost once every week
I feel sorry for anyone who has a slightly more complicated issue than this
Lucky for me the Dewalt products I own have been pretty good but their customer service and IT staff absolutely suck
*EDIT* update 16.04.2025
Just had an update after months telling me the products dont exist even though i have provided them with photographic evidence of the products in the past and they were previously registered on their own site
How can a company be so disgracefully incompetent
My angle grinder broke after 7 months
My angle grinder broke after 7 months. Spoke to the customer service who sent a courrier to collect it. That's where the fun started...
I was then accused of lying and they believed that it had a Date of manufacture of 2020. Which even if it did, I bought in 2024 so what difference does that make?
They then told me it'll be either £30 to send the broken item back unfixed or £80 to fix it (they're only worth £129 new).
So basically. In my case it didn't matter because I don't want it back, they can stick it up their crack for all I care. But if you have a faulty tool and you'd just like them to correct a minor fault beware that they will probably either decline to fix it and change you for sending it back or quote you a silly amount to fix it.
They make the 3 year warranty hard to register for on purpose it seems but on this showing, it's not worth the paper it's written on so just don't waste your time.
Obsolete bs
Obsolete bs. Don't waste your time with dewalt warranty. They will ask you take the item to their repair center and there are only a few of them in the entire country.
Battery lawnmower
Bought a battery operated lawnmower in March last year, I received a letter from dewalt suggesting a recall to update the control panel, but the lawnmower also stopped working. It was only used for 60 minutes.
I then Took the lawnmower to my nearest approved Dewalt service center in the next county.
I then waited 2 weeks and made several calls, with no joy, a month later a delivery truck turned up at my address returning the lawnmower. Fortunately I was home to take delivery, unfortunately the lawnmower was untouched, no recall notice adaptions and definitely not fixed. Many, many phone calls later I finally thought progress had been made, I received a call to confirm collection, I received by post a bar coded sticker. Today I sit looking at the lawnmower sat on a pallet awaiting collection! At least 8 phone calls later and several emails and still no response!
The worry now is that the 12month warranty will expire before a get some sort of positive response.
My understanding is that the “Dewalt approved service centres” are not prepared to repair any Dewalt products unless there is a guarantee they will be paid by Dewalt.
And clearly Dewalt are not very good at paying there contractors.
Great combo kit from Screwfix
Warranty battery issue
Purchased a twin pack of 18V XR Brushless Impact Driver and Hammer Drill and registered them for the extended warranty shortly after. Just after 12 months I tried to use the spare battery pack (which I had never used before since buying) only to find it was faulty and would not charge. I reported this to DeWalt to claim for a replacement under my warranty but was told the battery was excluded and they would not offer any replacement (despite the battery never in fact working since purchase). Thoroughly disappointing.
Warranty Registration Process UK
I bought a DCS391 Cordless Circular Saw (Bare Unit) from Screwfix. I tried today to register it in "My Toolbox" on the DeWalt site and to start the 3 Year Warranty. Try as I may, the site kept telling me that my Model No. was incorrect. I eventually rang DeWalt and was told that when I type my Model No., I then have to hit the "space" key and wait. I did this and after about half a minute, a dropdown menu appeared with about ten models of the DCS391, each with a different code suffixed e.g. "DCS391NJ-XE" but I had no information on which model I had bought - nothing on the Screwfix invoice either. The woman on the phone had said to pick any, so I picked a random one and it didn't work. I then looked again at my Serial No. and decided to try a numerical "O" instead of a "0" (zero)...and it worked!
My tool is now registered but it took the best part of an hour to do it.
DeWalt's website is the slowest I've had the misfortune to experience in a long time. It puts me in mind of the Argos website of old. It's like pulling teeth - I'm lucky enough to be on broadband but this site moves like it's on dial-up.
I like my DeWalt tools but the website is something else! :0(
DeWalt DCMPH566N - Pole Hedge Trimmer
DeWalt DCMPH566N - really sharp cutting blades but unfortunately the trimmer head flops about and does not and never will be in-line with the handle as shown in the DeWalt adverts. The trimmer was returned under warranty twice this year but never returned with a satisfactory fix to the problem which is clearly a design issue with the head position locking mechanism. Working at height, cutting a wide hedge with the tip of the trimmer head continually digging into the hedge, does not make for a good experience. Similarly cutting vertically the head flops back a forth. IMHO the current design makes this item too difficult to use so I have to say I do not recommend this hedge trimmer and there are better products on the market.
Warranty registration joke.
My tools are working as should so far!
but trying to register the tools warranty is a purposely made difficult.
Made ridiculously hard to do.
And asking customer service to assist was a disgusting experience!
I'll 100% not use the brand as long as I live
I purchased a chop saw for £500 and it…
I purchased a chop saw for £500 and it has broken after one year. The metal base has fractured which is a structural issue rather than wear and tear. Dewalt wer not interested in helping and I would caution anyone from purchasing from them.
I bought a DEWALT drill driver and was…
I bought a DEWALT drill driver and was very pleased initially. But after a while it only stayed on hammer drill. Then the chuck fell out! I couldn’t believe it. Thought it would be very straightforward replacement but no this was not the case. I had registered the drill with DEWALT and got the three yr warranty. To do this you have to give them all of your details and proof of purchase which is all kept on your account. When I notified them I had ten days of emails regarding me proving who I was, proving I owned the machine etc. even tho it was all on my registration warranty and only I could access it. After many emails they said I cannot get it replaced or repaired as I didn’t have proof of purchase. When I showed them the proof of purchase on the registration they said it wasn’t enough. On my account it showed proof of purchase and where I had purchased it! It is an absolute con.
Wow! Terrible Service
Wow! I cannot believe how bad the customer service is from Dewalt, considering they are a premium product. I have spent thousands of pounds on Dewalt power tools over the years. I would only buy Dewalt. This June, I purchased a self-priming pressure washer. I only used it twice, and on both occasions, the power rocker switch seemed defective as I had to fiddle with it for about 10-20 minutes for it to eventually power up. Also, the machine would not self-prime (draw water from the water barrel I was using); I ended up connecting it to a hose pipe (which completely defeats the point in buying this). After numerous emails back and forth with Dewalt Customer Service, jumping through as many hoops as they could through at me (proof of purchase, videos of me using it not working etc. - they even suggested I drive from Blackpool to Wales to get it repaired!!!), they agreed to collect via UPS (pressure washer unit only). It came back 3 days later, which was a suspiciously short period of time to fix two problems, with a new self-priming tube. Bear in mind I had already explained to them that it was not an issue with the tube itself, as I had taken off the filter to feel if there was any suction coming from the machine. There was none, therefore it is a fault with the machine, not the tube. When I tested it on its return, the power rocker switch was not working at all (after 40 minutes of switching on and off, on and off). So, I was unable to test if it would now self-prime. So, again I went back to Dewalt and explained that the machine won't power up at all and, again after sending a video of me showing that the batteries were in place (fully charged) and me switching the machine on and off and on and off and it not turning on, they agreed to collect it again by UPS; however this time, with all accessories AND my two 9amp FlexVolt batteries. I expressed concern about sending such expensive batteries and also reiterated that it was a problem with the switch and not the batteries as I had had it working twice with these batteries. I was assured everything would be fine. In addition, I do not understand why I had to send all accessories (which could easily be lost), when it is just a faulty machine. I had to send them images of the pressure washer and the batteries both unpacked and packaged? UPS collected the packaged machine and batteries on Tuesday, and I have just received an email from Dewalt saying that UPS picked up and delived the wrong item and had booked another collection date to pickup the correct package. They asked me to identify what was in the package they had received so they could find it? I ONLY HAD ONE PACKAGE TO BE COLLECTED by UPS and it was my washer and batteries. When I used the tracking number on UPS's website, it states that the package had been returned to sender the next day (but at a location which is not my address). It definitely wasn't returned to me, as neither my team or I have recieved a package from UPS?? Luckily, I had kept the collection receipt and had CCTV of one of my staff member giving the package to the UPS driver, him carrying it out of my office, and walking out of my yard with it (presumably to his van). This is unusual as normally delivey vans just park in our yard, so it was strange to see him carry the package off down the road. It was quite a heavy package
I have emailed all these to Dewalt proving UPS collected the correct package (my washer and batteries - the CCTV images of the package collected are identical to the photos of the parcel previously emailed to Dewalt before collection) and I am waiting for a reply.
....if it has got lost then I expect full compensation, not just for my lost products but for all the stress caused (the washer wasn't cheap and these batteries are a fortune!).
What is annoying is that if they had only listened, they would not have needed me to send my batteries (IT'S A POWER SWITCH FAULT). Also, if they had just fixed both issues properly the first time they collected it, I wouldn't be so frustrated and disappointed with Dewalt. They make it so difficult and long winded to send them faulty products (I admit this is my first), it feels like they want to make the process as hard as possible because they don't really want them to repair/replace, and I'm not sure they do much with them when they recieve them. I will update my review as my situation develops. Really, really terrible service.
All that said, Dewalt have a great opportunity now to turn my negative experience and review into more positive feedback, depending on how they handle this now.
I wish I'd read some of the reviews…
I wish I'd read some of the reviews before buying one of their products. Battery charger failed after 14 months. Like others I was led to believe I was extending the warranty to 3 years to include the tool, battery and charger. Oh no! Will never buy any more of their products
Lie about warranty
Bought a DeWalt drill set with charger and two batteries. One of the main reasons I did so was the three year warranty advertised on their website. However, after purchase it is made clear on registration of guarantee that only the drill has a three year warranty - the batteries and charger are not covered by this warranty. This is not clear any where - you only find this out after you have made your purchase. A disgusting attitude to their customers
