Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 32 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently struggle with unhelpful customer support, experiencing long delays, unreturned calls, and complicated warranty registration processes that make getting repairs nearly impossible. Many people also report that brand new equipment breaks down quickly, fails under normal working conditions, or arrives with missing parts. The minority of people were satisfied with the powerful performance of specific heavy-duty tools and older batteries that lasted through years of heavy use. Reviewers also noted that certain circular saws delivered exceptional cutting results and provided very satisfying overall results during projects.

Do not buy their tools

Do not buy their tools. Bought a sander in May 2022 believing they had a reputation for quality tools. The first one was dead out of the box. The second lasted 1 and half domestic sanding jobs and died November 2024. The 3-year warranty may make you feel confident, it should not. They will ask you to restate everything that is on the warranty certificate and require the original proof of purchase again. They have already got this proof before they will issue the warranty certificate, so this is clearly just a filter to reduce the claims they will actually honour. I had mine. Phil Moore of Dewalt then tells me it will be collected by UPS anytime 8am to 6pm on a specified date. Twice this hasn't happened. I offer to take it to take it to any local courier drop off point, including UPS. They say no, but I can post their faulty tool back at my own expense!!! Two days of paid leave mean I have lost far more than this piece of junk originally cost. Really, honestly, just don't buy from them.

Trimmer cap

Used my dcst922 trimmer one time for about 4 hours and noticed the bump cap was already wearing out with holes appearing on the edges. I manufactured a stainless sheet metal cover and applied with rivets. The weight is minimal so I’m not concerned about balance. My question is why has DEWALT not designed this cap with a metal scuff plate to avoid premature failure?

Poor Quality Boots.

I had a pair of oakridge boots delivered on 5/6/24 and after less than 3 months 1 of the boots has holes in the sole. I sent photos to dewalt and they’ve replied that it’s due to “excessive wear and tear”.
I’m a store man and my duties mainly include managing a block paved yard and driving maybe an average of 2 miles a day 5/6 days a week.
I maybe wrong but I’d expect a pair of boots to last longer than a few weeks under these conditions.

Absolutely shocking customer service

Absolutely shocking customer service. I brought a dewalt multitool online and all the accessories were missing .I couldn't return it as I needed it for a job that Monday as it had arrived on the Saturday ,so with that I contacted the online shop and they were happy to accept the return but couldn't send the missing parts but as I needed it ,it wasn't an option for me to send back so I purchased a few blades that I needed at that point so I could still get done what I had to.i contacted dewalt and explained all this and asked them if they could send me the missing parts .my god the amount of emails that went back and forth of me trying to get what I paid for was unreal .now please bare in mind the fault had occurred at there end in packing the end product ,they would not budge an inch and I never got the accessories pack that I paid for along side the multi tool .I have brought dewalt for the last 28 years and needless to say I won't be buying another single thing from them and will switch to makita. Iv never had an issue where iv needed to contact them before but this is typical of these big companies now with shareholders, they are just not interested in the little guy .very let down and out of pocket .if I could give 0 starts I would

DeWalt Titanium Safety Boot.

DeWalt Titanium Safety Boot.
Purchased in August last year (2023).
Boots were regularly cleaned and conditioned, however leather started to crack within two month of purchase and waterproof membrane went the same way a month later. Both have progressively got worse.
AVOID.

Bad customer service!

Bad customer service. Spare parts have to come from Germany which is going to take up to 6 weeks and Dewalt (UK) claim they are not in touch with Dewalt (Germany) and are unable to assist. What a load of cobblers. Steer clear of this shower.

Zero support!

Dewalt UK are a poor company with zero support!
I won a prize in their "Smash & Win" competition on 15 May. We are now at 25 July and still no sign of the prize.
I have sent numerous emails to Dewalt UK and to the company they 'engaged' to run their competition.
They simply don't care at all and are ignoring me.
Heaven forbid I should ever need support with the many XR tools I have bought!
Great tools but a poor UK company.

DeWalt Mesh Sanding Disc 150mm 80 Grit.

DeWalt Mesh Sanding Disc 150mm 80 Grit.
I expect better from dewalt, I have a few things made by them and they work really well, however these new sanding discs they claim last 4x longer are seriously the worst sanding discs I've ever used. I put one on and wore it down to just the cotton velcro underneath in a few minutes so tried a second one, I'm going to be positive here and say they both lasted a total of ten minutes between them. You need to recall these and rethink how to make them as they're useless. And just to confirm I was sanding some pretty nice floor boards, nothing over the top or particularly challenging.
I took a photo but can't upload it for some reason.
Poor effort there dewalt.

De Walt Promotions. Won a prize? You'll need luck on your side to get it.

After years of buying tools down to a price now retired I have finally have the money to buy for quality even though I only use them for d-i-y around the house. And with registration come emails promoting their products including "Smash and Win" with a chance to win prizes every day. And on the 19th May I did win a prize - a De Walt baseball cap. OK, it's not really a "prize" it's marketing material, the sort of thing you give out at trade shows. The email telling me of my win said:
"Those participants eligible to receive the redemption product should allow 45 days from the date their claim was submitted to receive the redemption product.
If the redemption product has not been received 30 days from the date of this confirmation, participants are invited to contact us by email at dewalt.redemptions (at) be2b.co.uk" which I did and very quickly got a response tell in me to "email WTWT (at) sbdinc.com regarding your Smash & Win Prize". That's it. No apology, no explanation. I did email WTWT over a week ago and - surprise - never even got an acknowlegement. So I've passed the problem back to De Walt but I'm not expecting them to solve the problem. (In fact DeWAlt customer services never replied to me either - I had to write to the Chief Executive). A quick count up and my three De Walt cordless tools and their accessories have cost me about £400. Looking in Lidl, for the same money I could have had a fully stocked toolbox and, from my experience in the past, Lidl do know about customer service.
So by all means buy De Walt tools but think twice before you waste time entering their promotions,
UPDATE. Well, on the 27th July after more than 2 months the "prize" finally turned up. And what I received was a baseball cap with a stained peak and a large and tacky "De Walt 100 Years" logo on the front. I hope the charity shop can find a home for it becasue I'd be embarrassed to wear it.

Safety boots materials lead to burns!!

Safety boots materials lead to burns!!! Purchased a pair of Bolster safety boots and within 3 weeks of wear the lining of the padding around the ankle had worn off, and whatever the lining is made of underneath lead to burns all around the ankles, despite wearing seriously thick socks!! This used to be made of thick leather (first pair from 3yrs ago was good), now a shoddy material, who knows what it was treated with. Awful!! And nowhere to complain on their site either. Won't use their PPE again.

Customer service standards from 1990's

I'd always bought Dewalt internal tools and couldnt rate them more highly. This was the first time I ventured into their Garden tools range. I bought a battery strimmer that turned out to have a design flaw with the wires constantly jamming. Their customer service can only be described as slippery and despite it being a valid purchase from only a few weeks ago and a valid problem they ducked and dived every opportunity to help or offer support. In the end I returned it to the store and thankfully they were able to offer a full refund. Lesson learned.

Purchased a Strimmer and Drill as there…

Purchased a Strimmer and Drill as there was a special deal on, buy a strimmer and get a compact screwdriver free once you register your tool which I done straight away' its been 2 months on I have still not received the compact screwdriver and have emailed them and have had no response, there phones are not answered still have covid message saying they are not in the office. This is false advertising promising a free item and not delivering it which is illegal, if I do not hear from them in the next 10days I will bring this further

Dewalt lost drill. Basically tough

Bought a tradesman double pack. The multi-drill is no where near as good as the impact driver.
First repair thanks to Toolstation went smoothly. Unfortunately it didn't even last a further 10 months, the second time I needed it repaired was a nightmare. Dewalt suddenly wanted the original receipt after over 2 years and it being registered with them after purchase. 5 months later finally they would repair it, weren't allowed to leave on doorstep not safe instead I had to find a ups drop off centre. Dewalt received it and repaired it but unfortunately for me the ups delivery driver left it at my front door and took a picture and left.
Then I received an email saying my tool had been delivered so I check ups website seen a picture of my front door way with a brown box there and it said delivered. I went back outside and check everywhere but nothing.
Contacted Dewalt but they weren't bothered and said it had been delivered. After complaining they got ups to do an investigation ( bit of a joke) so they obviously looked at the same photo I did and said delivered. Dewalt then tell me ups said it was delivered the picture is proof. So Dewalt now say contact the police, as if they will find it or do anything. Dewalt basically just don't care.
The drill was left outside all day, something I wasn't allowed to do for security and safety reasons for collection but for delivery its seems its fine
So after 6 months of trying to get a drill fixed under warranty, I now have nothing. I might as well thrown it in the bin.
All that stress for nothing.
What a sad company.
What sad customer service.
Sad repair service.

DONT BUY DEWALT. THE TOOLS ARE CHEAPLY MADE. CUSTOMER CARE USELESS.
My recommendation is to BUY MILWAUKEE.
Personally I wouldn't even give one star. Wasted time and money.
