7 months left on my policy.. charged me £110 for cancelling my policy.... £65 for cancelation fee which is fine... but £45 for them to arrange the cancellation is diabolical? what's the point in a cancellation fee in the first place if they charge more to arrange it, shocking service

I’m absolutely disgusted with my experience cancelling my policy with Dial Direct Car Insurance. Being charged an £87 cancellation fee is completely excessive and feels totally unjustified. Yes, the process could be done online, but that doesn’t excuse such an over-the-top charge.
What’s even more concerning is that I’ve now noticed discrepancies between the scheduled direct debit amounts and what was actually taken from my account, which was higher than agreed. This appears to be a clear breach of the Direct Debit Guarantee and raises serious concerns about their billing practices and transparency.
Overall, this has been a very disappointing experience. Between the excessive cancellation fee and the incorrect payments taken, I’ve completely lost trust in this company. I expected much better in terms of fairness and accuracy. I wouldn’t recommend based on how this situation has been handled.

What a con this company took all my remaining months cover in charges!
Cancelled the car policy after 7.5 months because I changed my car and DirectLine could not meet the new requirements.
They charged me full year for breakdown cover, 45 pounds intermediary charge & 60 pounds cancellation fee, this left no refund. Never ever use them again. Also their website did not work for cancellation and their phone line service was pathetic.

Amazing, I got a quote and paid for the insurance on a Friday, I was really pleasantly surprised then 3 days later to receive £80 back to my account as I had more no claims than I first thought.
Also got RAC cover and key cover as part of the costs.

Terrible and very rude service I received today from what seemed like an Indian call centre, I just wanted to chance over my car insurance to another car and it could not have been more complicated not to mention the premium rising from my existing policy by more than £1500 !! And that was for a smaller car, the call centre where unable to give m a new quote and just gave me my new monthly payment that was from £18 a month to £98 a month , when questioned I just received a rude reply and was asked what don’t I understand!!! Policy will now be cancelled and already I’ve insured my new car along with 3 named drivers for £330

Your renewal quote was excessive. I went to compare themarket and got a cheaper quote . Seems I shouldn't look at your renewal quote ever. I know that website got a commission. Would it not be easier to give me a genuine quote where you miss out quoting ridiculous increases and not having to pay third parties commissions.

Company did not register my insurance with the government database. I am now being prosecuted and they do not communicate in any way.
The only contact number is very slow to answer. 7 days after making a complaint I have heard nothing.
Appalling service.

The company will completely maximise the time it takes to deal with a third party claim. I was rear-ended by another driver while stationary at a stop street, He was super apologetic and was as helpful as possible, but his insurance company is Dial Direct. They have been completely unhelpful and I am forced to wait 4 weeks for my car to be fixed.

Dealing with Dial Direct was OK but the extras and therefore the final price was not the same as on the Confused.com.
There were certain extras advertised on the Confused.com web search and then when I clicked through to Dial Direct, those items were charges as extras and increased the price.

Avoid dial direct car insurance at all costs, car got hit by a 3rd party who left a note and I had a whiteness! Dial direct are refusing to chase liability so I can get my car fixed. Spoke to enterprise who advised that dial direct will no longer chase the 3rd party for liability and the advisor laughed when I said I maybe should switch car insurance to alternative provider in future, says it all!
Hate to think how useless they would be if it was a serious accident!
