RAC Car Insurance are to be commended in 2026
1. Competitive price that reflects decades of safe driving and genuine no claims since 1979.
Also, as my MoT mileage recordings prove, I do low annual mileage which I would be prepared to submit if requested.
Named second driver who is also accident-free since 1978.
So, a low risk policy-holder and second named driver who are finally being treated fairly. RAC Insurance are to be commended for this alone. Let us hope this continues.
2. Two years in a row! So unusual today; but was once common four decades ago when we seemed able to build a "relationship" (or a proper history) with an insurance company. I hope RAC Insurance note this.
3. Accurate details retained by RAC.
4. I like my insurance and breakdown under the one (seamless) umbrella organisation.

My insurance came up for renewal from previous provider - wasn't happy. Got on to RAC - Good website. Went through each detail, step by step - not the cheapest but certainly covered all bases - 'add-ons' - especially breakdown cover - were very reasonable!! After purchase, I was emailed with cover details immediatley. Excellent company to work with.

Great insurers but
Great insurers, very happy with their services apart from all your offers for home mobile mechanics don’t apply to the highlands.
This is not only your business that has a problem with the service to the people of the highlands as many others do the same!! We are not on the moon and should be treated the same as other areas of uk.
You take the money quickly enough for your business but not the same amount of services for us up here.

Admin fees
Disappointing that I was charged an extra £20 admin fee because I'd forgotten to update my payment details, after recently moving my bank account. I would have cancelled the insurance, but that would have cost me a £45 admin fee! A simple email asking me to update my payment details would have sufficed. Disappointing - seems very 'money grabbing'. Didn't expect it from a company like RAC.

Had no fault accident in April '26…
Had no fault accident in April '26 since then no communication regarding the accident they put me intouch with a no win no fee company (not naming yet until I get to the bottom if this farce) RAC have not sent any files to the solicitors and now they have contacted me twice asking me for the file ie: Name address of the defendant, why should I be doing leg work when these are "professionals" getting paid for a service they are obviously NOT doing correctly, from start to finish it has been a farce!! Then try ringing RAC it says answer within a minute 10 minutes later I'm still waiting
