Bought breakdown cover with the RAC…
Bought breakdown cover with the RAC Online Car Insurance promising digital-only/self-service expecting it to be a normal breakdown package like I had previously. No telephone support, no myRAC app support (isn't this digital?). This wasn't stated on purchase... "completely online, by you.". Can't manage my breakdown online with myRAC. Can't access the full "breakdown cover details" online anywhere. Need to phone to report a breakdown. Is this digital only? Feel this is misleading selling. Called RAC insurance and RAC breakdown and they won't give me a membership number for myRAC.

Didn't receive annual renewal notice
Didn't receive annual renewal notice, only an email on the date of policy expiration, which panicked me into renewing (I'm the sole live-in Carer for my Mother whom has Dementia, so my time is fully utilised on a daily basis), therefore I had to panic into an annual renewal ..resulting in my premium doubling!!
This is my 3rd, and LAST insurance policy (and breakdown cover policy, renewal in November).
I sent a Complaint to the RAC, via their website. 4wks later, STILL no response.
And I thought the AA were poor ..

As a motorist of some years
As a motorist of some years, I've found it annoying to have to pay exorbitant amounts for my insurance cover, just because of my age.
On this occasion though, by going through RAC, I have, at last, found a reasonably-price cover that doesn't unfairly treat me because I'm 85 years of age.

i was not aware that i was not going to receive any paperwork when i took out this policy as i am old i did not understand buying online was no paper work

Our online only policy can only be administered online via the self-service centre and by speaking to our webchat team. However, documents can be requested in any format, including paper documents that can be posted to you.

Policy price significantly increased after agreeing quote.
At the quotation point, a claim date was incorrect by 3 months - this was highlighted by yourself from CUE and confirmed that no cost adjustment involved. Instead of amending the date you added it as another claim with out getting my agreement. I queried this on receiving a new amended policy, to find the policy price had now increased by >£100 as it was now nearer the renewal date. It took 3 separate attempts to cancel the policy with admin charges being applied as well a policy cover due to the bank holiday closure !

Phoned for a quote for my sons car…
Phoned for a quote for my sons car which was covered by learner insurance so wanted to add it to my policy so I could drive it if needed.
Went through the quote, then they asked for my sons details I reiterated that he had leaner insurance.
At this point I was accused of insurance fraud and that I would be reported.
I pointed out the fraud would be if I claimed twice and this was confirmed by another insurance company.
Went back to the leaner insurance company and a lovely lady sorted it and added me as a driver.
Totally shocked by RAC, didn't renew.

Once I could actually talk to a person my problem was solved . On your app you cannot change registration of private plate if you have not informed DVLA . But if you haven’t collected the car you can’t alter your documents.

They increased my insurance by almost…
They increased my insurance by almost 50% for no reason (no change in circumstances, no claims)..
Adding few more information as to show it's pretty much a pattern from their side.
2023
Last year's total: £640.93
Total to pay: £871.91
2024:
Last year's total: £871.91
Total to pay: £1301.54
2026:
Last year's total: £833.91
Total to pay: £1179.96
Each time no claim and no change of circumstances.
So every time prices have gone up and required close to 50% more, but suddenly they could afford to give me the same offer or lower?
No I'm not interested in contacting RAC team for them to have a "look into it" as it is simply disgraceful business policy
