Was text about my policy "due" to be cancelled 4 days after it had been cancelled.
I updated my payment details from the previous month, but due to an admin error they did not update for the current month.
My policy was cancelled, and i only had a text today, 4 days after it had done so, and also now have to pay an £80 fee, as well as find a new policy last minute.
I will be avoiding Direct Dial at all costs, as well as their parent company BISL Ltd and would suggest anyone reading this to also do the same and their predatory tactics.

I had a competitive price initially and then the renewal doubled, I had a quote as a new customer and it was half the renewal price, apparently the cheap price is due new customers only and not loyal repeat customers. What a way to lose business.

I’d be very wary before using this company I used a comparison site Dial Directs quote was not the cheapest however it had motor legal expenses, a courtesy car etc included less than 3 days later I received an email telling me as I had a non fault claim from 4 years ago which I hadn’t included my policy would increase by £110 a month the underwriter for my policy had actually been the company I was insured with the previous year nothing had been left out please be careful

Car insurance was up for renewal.
As soon as the renewal reminder came i cancelled the automatic renewal simply so that nearer the time I could search for the best deal as my policy had gone up by over £200 despite having 28 years no claims.
I re insured either another company, then at 21.56 hours the night before my renewal would of taken place they send me an email informing me of my new policy start up despite having cancelled it.
I immediately went onto my account and cancelled the renewal again( noting that every time I navigated the web page they kept throwing a pop up trying to force me into agreeing my new financial agreement which I did not do.
It is clear as day they have informed me so late the day before of the illegal renewal that I had opted out of they were hoping I would not pick up on the email.
Anyway I wake up the following morning to find they had completed a hard credit search on my banking for the renewal repayments without my permission.
I am in the middle of remortgaging my house so need my credit rating to be the best it can possibly be.
Insurance companies behaviours these days are despicable, I detest their hard sales approach. Its now 06.25 on a Saturday morning so the company are closed I've got the stress of awaiting to call them Monday morning to remonstrate and demand they remove the credit searches which im guessing they won't do.
Disgusting illegal behaviour, avoid at all costs

absolutely shocking customer service, I have been trying to cancel my policy for the last 3 weeks and had no communication or replies to anything. I spent 42 minutes on hold to be cut off, I have sent 3 emails with no response. I have had plenty of generic emails stating YOU MUST CONTACT US IMMIDIATLEY REGARDING YOUR ACCOUNT. Policy 138932678 - CANCEL MY POLICY !!! - I have all the evidence showing I've attempted contact for the last 23 days. I'm not wasting more time it seems the only way to get a response from this dreadful company is to leave a negative review.

Awful company, as a pensioner I was finding it increasingly more costly to run my car. I had paid up front for a year but after 6 months decided to cut our outgoings, cancel the insurance, and sell my car. They charged me for cancelling (why?), promised me a refund which still has not arrived. Avoid at all costs would never recommend

With more features included as standard compared to rivals on the comparison websites and the so called cheapest ones , not on comparison sites . Dial Direct was considerably cheaper and also included a lower voluntary excess .
Value for money is so important given the taxation and ever rising cost of living and although the Dial Direct quote was over £ 50 more than last years insurer , it was still £100s cheaper than many so called special offer -time limited quotes .

We took out a car policy to start on 25 March. We spoke to Dial Direct on 24 March to confirm this. They sent us policy documents and then four emails thanking us for insuring with them. We were horrified yesterday to receive an email and a text informing us that they had cancelled the policy due to non payment. So they waited for fifteen days to tell us that they were unable to obtain the payment. After four phone calls to them, two of which were cut off, and another two indepth emails from us we are still getting demands for £60 cancellation fee of a policy that we were unaware had an issue. We keep trying to get some proper answers and the call centres are worse than useless. Never ever use them if you want to keep your sanity. The stress of this has made me extremely unwell.
Update. I have just been called by a Dial Direct rep. She told me her name and said she was phoning about my review on Trustpilot. Then, surprise surprise, I was cut off AGAIN. If they are trying to make my stress levels worse, they are doing well. I tried to phone back and this did not work. I’m at my wits end now.
Dial direct have now sorted out the problem. Hopefully I will feel better tomorrow as I still don’t feel good. Maybe when my blood pressure drops down again. Fingers crossed.

The service online was good but direct contact by phone was bad to say the least.

DD charges more to exhisting customers than new ones. The renewal quote was not competitive given that the car is one year older and depreciated in value. I got a cheaper quote for Dial Direct on a comparison site albeit with the excess hiked up. I received an email re confirmation the previous policy would not be revewed as requested by me but all the emails re the new policy had gone to the outlook junk folder. I went to my account to check that the new policy had come into effect as I had not seen any email confirmation. Later it occurred to me to check the junk folder! Why are the emails from a well known Insurance company treated as junk mail by microsoft?

Customer service is appalling. I've spent 2 hours on the phone and been cut off twice by 2 different 'advisors.' I tried to make changes on the website as the information they hold for me re my car insurance is incorrect. The links don't work. The wrong information is still there.

Unhelpful, opaque and confusing. And only online, zero offer of a person to help sort this tricky and very new to me issue. Very unimpressed, May move my cover.

I had my Seat Leon insured with this company which I took out in November. We decided in April to change to an Audi A3. Essentially the same car! Same engine size and actually 6 months older. Dial Direct would not insure me unless I went with another underwriter and for nearly double my premium! Of the £300 I had paid I would receive less than half and if I cancelled, just £80 back after loads of fees! Absolute joke of a company who should hang their heads in shame. Thankfully M&S quoted me significantly less so it was actually cheaper for me to take the hit on cancelling my policy. Genuinely avoid this place!!
Updated.. In fairness Dial Direct rang me to talk through my experience and this particular agent was very helpful and friendly. The total opposite to the first call. She waived my cancellation fee and upheld my complaint. Not a great service in all that happened before but they at least took the time to call me and offer a solution. Fair is fair so I have updated this review.

no more than a touch by a shopping trolly and you want to hammer me by 150 quid ,,not my fault and not a mark on my car so i didnt claim ,,, and i had no claims protection ,,and the policy is a diffrent policy on a diffrent car ,, your not even worth 1 star ,,bunch of rippoffs... I informed my insurance that the other party could make a fraudulent claim.. Protecting the insurance companies.. And you paid out not a penny.. So how come you want me to pay more for protecting my insurers.. I'll add that I've never ever had an accident that's ever been my fault..arnt you supposed to reward good drivers? Not punish them financially...?

Saved 40% off what my current insurers wanted. And got RAC roadside included.
