Awful when there is any issue

Awful when there is any issue. An entire can of paint exploded in my car, damaging my boot, and they didn't want to know, despite the fact that it was their fault the lid wasn't on properly. Black masonry paint. Thanks, B&Q.

It is frustrating across the board online ordering not had much luck recently

Ordered a Birchtree 8x6FT Steel Apex Garden Shed never turned up, no communication from 3rd party seller back to square one ordering another shed

BnQ did get involved with 3rd party seller but only polite emails they need to be on top of their supply chain, the lack of communication was the most frustrating

Check online first!

Wanted some black fixing brackets for a handrail - only had silver or brass in store. These were difficult to find, but a staff member helped. I wanted 5, they only had 4, so ended up with mismatch. These were all sold individually, so worked out a bit pricey. Got home and found they do a set of 5 black ones online only, at a much better price. Ordered these, got a refund on the others. Would help a lot if staff could check online and actually helpp customers find what they want, instead of B&Q selling what they have. Always check online before visiting store!

I went into my local B & Q at…

I went into my local B & Q at cortonwood Barnsley on Saturday 25th April 2026 to purchase a gas bottle,I went looking for the gas bottle’s and decided to head towards the outdoor area and could see the gas bottles in a chained off area, nearby I could see a B & Q employee and asked him if we could have a gas bottle and he replied that we needed to head towards the checkout to purchase the gas bottle and that they would then bring it to the checkout. I headed towards the checkout with the other items I wanted to purchase and queued to pay. When I was at the checkout I was told that I needed to go to customer services to purchase the gas. I was a little frustrated at this point because of the wait and being given bad information. when I got to the customer service area there were two employees, 1 dealing with a customer and another on a pc. The one on the pc could see I was waiting but never acknowledged me and just left us standing there.
I think your staff need to be trained to deal with customers better, especially the one on the pc as she could have politely said that she was just dealing with something but someone would be with me shortly.

Avoid B&Q at all costs

Avoid at all costs, find another DIY retailer or use local builders merchants, B&Q first send out damaged products, then they don't collect when they say they are, then they say they will follow up with replacements, all this time they have never replied to any emails, you have to contact them, they do not do what they say over the phone, no follow up, they fob you off, block you, offer a gift card but don't send it, then don't reply to that, the worst company I have ever dealt with, avoid them, they do not care about anything you say

If you buy a bathroom from B&Q get your own fitter

We purchased a new bathroom from the Pontypridd branch. It was fitted over a 10 day period in late November/early December. Within less than two weeks we had water pouring through the ceiling downstairs. We contacted B&Q and their first reaction was that we must have ‘stepped on the plug’. We discovered that the leak was coming from the joint in the wall panel inside the shower cubicle. The fitter came and patched it up temporarily with silicone so it could still be used and also cut a hole in the ceiling downstairs so he could view the underneath of the shower.

We were then told it would need to be refitted but couldn’t be done until March. We weren’t happy with this and complained but the installations manager was insistent we had no choice but to wait. We were left with a hole in our ceiling from 17th December to 9th March.

The fitting was rebooked for 2nd March which we reluctantly agreed to. It was going to take 3 days for the refit. A few days before we received a message that the fitter would be unable to start on the 2nd and it would have to be delayed to the 5th which was a Thursday. This meant we would not have access to the bathroom for 5 days as the fitter didn’t work weekends. We requested that it be delayed until the following Monday so that it would only take the 3 days originally stated. But I was told by the installations manager if we didn’t have the work completed then it would be the end of May before it could be done. Again we reluctantly agreed even though it would cause even more inconvenience.

The work was completed on Monday 9th March. On Friday 13th March water started pouring through the newly plastered ceiling. Again B&Q tried to say we must have stepped on the plug!! Once again a joint in a wall panel inside the cubicle was found to be at fault. Once again a temporary fix of silicone was applied and this time we were told we would have to wait until June for the refit.

At this point I decided to take matters into my own hands and use a sledgehammer to crack a nut. I emailed the CEO of B&Q. Following this email we received the help and the service we should have had from the beginning. The bathroom was refitted in one day on 9th April by a different fitter and to date it is still okay. Unfortunately all of this completely spoiled having a new bathroom and by the time it had been taken in and out 3 times it no longer looked quite so new.

The removal and refitting of the toilet and shower meant that the brand new floor, ceiling and walls were also damaged. We were eventually given a refund for this amongst a few other things.

The fitter that came the last time was less than complimentary about the work of the original fitter.

If you are going to buy a bathroom from B&Q I would highly recommend getting your own fitter. The fitters are not employed by B&Q so any work they carry out has to fit in around private work. If you run into problems like we did you will be left hanging for months before it gets sorted out. I should not have had to go to the lengths of emailing the CEO to get a satisfactory resolution.

Before all the issues we had decided we would buy a new kitchen and would almost certainly have purchased it from B&Q. All the problems we had and the service we experienced from the installations manager meant we purchased our kitchen from elsewhere. Never again will we use B&Q for this type of renovation.

Had a sofa day bed delivered for the…

Had a sofa day bed delivered for the garden. . Arrived damage scratches in quite a lot of places . Looks like someone sent it back as damaged and they just repacked it and sent it out . Paid £800 and they offered me £40 as a good will gesture like they were doing me a favour. Had to take a fence panel down to get it in as the 5 seater sofa came in one box, this should have been spilt into two boxes . Not a good experience trying to get this into my garden and an insult really to be offered 5% refund . Also if I took the £40 it cancels out the 5 year warranty. Who ever deals with your quality control , they needed to be fired . That should never of been sent out, no one has clearly checked it . The frame work will need to be re sprayed or painted. For size a big company , it sucks! It’s a shame I can’t upload this pictures on here as well . I have uploaded them thought on your FB page !

Outstanding Service from Ed at B&Q Yate

We had a fantastic experience today thanks to Ed at B&Q in Yate, who truly went above and beyond to help my husband and me. When the Diamond crystal effect Acrylic Light pull wasn’t available on the shelf, he took the time to check his system, locate the item, and arrange payment so we could collect it from Cribbs Causeway in Bristol. His helpfulness and dedication really impressed us, and he made what could have been frustrating into a smooth and positive experience.

I ordered via B&Q a dining set of 6 from a company cosy homes worth of 275.99£.
It came out to be very small in size. I contacted B&Q helpline - they advised me to drop it at local store and get your refund. Next day , I went to B&Q — they declined to take and asked me to contact seller directly.
I have contacted B&Q helpline services since 3-4 days now as I am sending msgs to seller - he’s not replying me to request return and refund me.
Now I am stuck with this dining table and wasted my hard earned money successfully.

I have invoice and proof of sending msgs as well. Nothings helping.

Pathetic service and store !!
