Avoid at all Costs!

I used to visit DG in Bridgeville, DE, all the time because they are close to home. Now it is just the most unorganized, unsanitary store you can go in. The aisles are filled with boxes, and you can barely get through. Then there is usually only 1 employee, and the line is always all the way down the aisle. I can't even tell you how many times I have abandoned my cart and just walked out!

leave bad attitudes at the door....

I was shopping at the dollar general on Old Iowa park road in Wichita Falls Texas on 10/06/25. I saw some laundry baskets that said buy one get one free so I looked at the price and it said $15. When I was checking out, it rang up as $20.95. I mentioned that the tag on the shelf said $15 and the lady with the black eye rudely told me she wasn't going to adjust the price and ask me if I wanted it or not. Any other time if the price on the shelf is different from the price at the register, the manager will honor the price on the shelf, as they should but apparently she was having a bad day and didn't mind taking it out on me, the customer.

The store in Vicksburg 2203 off of Clay…

The store in Vicksburg 2203 off of Clay street had an employee named Tez who absolutely stood up today amd showed geat kindness and love. He greeted with a smile and respectful gestures and went over and beyond to call to serve others
He multi tasked while helping me in a way he did not even realize at the time. If I could rate him higher than a 5 star I would, he is very deserving of high recognition.

Poor stocking at about all dg stores. But my local one especially. It will be many times during the week. It will be 50 or more boxes piled up in the floor. And slelves bare. Cant get a buggy through. If you tell staff what youre looking for they just say its in one those boxes. Laugh , he he he and keep walking.

Not worth the effort!

I’m trying to order from your website and it put all my items on a “SHOPPING LIST.” But there is literally NO place on the page to get them into my shopping cart so I can purchase the order. This is stupid. You’ll lose more than just my business if you don’t fix that.

Dollar General Management Violates Their Own Policies

On Friday, September 5, 2025, I had one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had at this Dollar General.

I came in to buy my usual Irish Cream Monster Energy drink — a flavor that’s already hard to find, much less find in the cooler. The cooler space for this product had been empty for several days, and the drinks were stocked incorrectly that day. I grabbed two at room temperature and went to the register.

The store manager came out of the office, began ringing me up, and completely ignored me while keeping her body turned toward another customer. She carried on a conversation about not hiring high school students during the school year. When I politely mentioned the cooler hadn’t been stocked, she looked annoyed, her facial expression showing clear irritation, and dismissively said, “That is the vendor’s job.” Her look, tone, and body language made it obvious she was irritated that I spoke up at all. I left feeling disrespected and dismissed.

I filed a complaint by email that same day but never received a reply. I believe it may have gone to the store and been buried. On Tuesday, I escalated; Wednesday the district manager called me — but only after already speaking with the store manager first. When I explained what happened, she reacted with surprise, asking, “She didn’t engage with you?” I told her, “No.” Yet all I was offered was that the manager was “sorry,” which came across as favoritism and minimization.

Later that same day, I escalated to the regional manager. After 48 hours with no call back, I followed up and only then learned that a $10 gift card had been issued in my name on Sept 12, without anyone ever contacting me. That gesture spoke volumes: it showed exactly how Dollar General values its customers — as if respect, loyalty, and time are worth no more than ten dollars.

Policy Violations:
Dollar General’s Employee Handbook (publicly available on their website) spells out conduct violations on page 16 that may result in discipline or termination, including:

Discourteous or abusive conduct toward any customer

Unprofessional behavior

Dishonesty of any kind in relation to customers

Failure to cooperate in a company investigation

Violation of other company policies/SOPs

The store manager’s actions were discourteous and unprofessional. The undisclosed gift card fits dishonesty. If my complaint was buried, that is failure to cooperate.

These violations extend beyond the store:

The district manager minimized my complaint and showed favoritism (unprofessional; failure to cooperate, p.16).

The regional manager authorized a $10 gift card without contacting me (dishonesty; discourteous conduct, p.16).

Additionally, the store manager’s public remark about not hiring high school students violates Dollar General’s Anti-Discrimination & Harassment Policy (p.5), which applies to applicants. Many high school seniors are 18 and fully eligible to work, including selling age-restricted items. A blanket refusal to consider them contradicts company standards.

Looking back, I also question whether bias against my appearance played a role in how I was treated, given the manager was openly discriminating against another group in that same moment.

Why this matters:
When district and regional leaders allow this kind of behavior, it sets the tone for every store they oversee. If employees see that ignoring customers and minimizing complaints is tolerated, it becomes acceptable — which damages employee morale and erodes customer trust.

Closing:
This isn’t just one bad interaction. It is a failure at every level of management. I no longer feel comfortable shopping at Dollar General — not just this store, but any location in the area, since the same district and regional leaders oversee multiple stores. Customers deserve better.

Went to dollar general in chipley

Went to dollar general in chipley, FL on 8/30/2025. They poor cashier had a long line and things weren't ringing up right. The manager was out in his car getting stoned instead of helping her. I know she wanted to walk out. Another employee finally came up and helped her. What a crappy ass store. This is what our world has come to, yet they want our business? Guess they need to hire corporate people that actually have a brain. Nothing but communist and slave labor. I feel sorry for the people that have no choice but to work at these places in small towns to survive.

I think it is very discriminatory for…

I think it is very discriminatory for you to have sales in your store where you HAVE to get an app for a “digital coupon”. That’s not fair to us old folks that just want to shop without having to add another app to our phones. Why can’t everyone have the sale price? Why make us do extra stuff we don’t understand to get a sale price. It seems like you dislike us old timers!!! It’s just not fair. You already screwed up your stores by moving the shelves. The old design was so much more friendly. If used to take me about 20 minutes to shop then the design changed now I’m in there for about 45 minutes. It sucks. Plz don’t discriminate against us old folks. You may be one of us one day.

Rude guy behind the counter

While, Christina, our cashier, was great friendly, cheerful smile, and very nice, a tall dark, bearded guy behind the counter was rude. While standing behind one counter, doing nothing, he rudely told my wife the bathrooms were out if order, go to the gas station next store. Then, wandered around the store while 5 of us stood in line. Store #8043, Hawthorne, FL.

MICRO TOXINS harmful if ingested

all Dollar General Freezers coolers have mold, they seem to find it more important to follow through and making sure employees are wearing the appropriate uniform. Rather than paying attention to the unsafe mold growing in their freezers and cooler. Mold spores contaminate food, making it unsafe to eat permeating the taste of the food. Mold thrive so organic matter food provides a perfect environment for it to grow. leading to spoilage to spread to items in your fridge. MICROTOXINS which are harmful if ingested causing respiratory problems. DG 7507 Grissom San Antonio Tx

I went to Dollar General located at…

I went to Dollar General located at 6971 Taft street in Hollywood, Florida and it was disgusting from the Manager's attitude towards the customers to the sight of the entire store. Very very nasty. You need to do better in hiring the unprofessional managers that you do. Also the worker showed the same attitude. This was at 1:45pm on Saturday, August 2025. I would not recommend anyone to do service here . The store itself is a hazard.

Dollar general has one of my worst…

Dollar general has one of my worst reviews. I bought a Moto g 5g from there and they said you need to activate it and bring it back. I activated it and never brought it back since I paid for it. They said bring it back. I showed them my ID. I have a feeling they are using cheaper hardware or something like Walmart. Maybe an RFID tag but I've had problems with it ever since.
