Dreamyacht is a very reliable company providing either cruise by cabin or boat rental. We have loved our 2 expereiences in Croatia from Trogir and Zaton

Budget boat and multiple minor issues
We boarded the, admittedly lovely, but a bit old and distressed, boat on Tortola, with paperwork stating that we would be supplied with wine at meals and one cocktail daily. Karen, the cook, showed us her paperwork stating that no alcohol was included. On seeing our paperwork the skipper retrieved 2 bottles of wine from a neighbouring boat … for 7 people.
They then told us we would get two glasses per person. We weren’t aware of this two glass limit - however our tour guide confirmed it. We rarely got anywhere near what was allocated. Two bottles of wine were available some nights for 7 people.
The air conditioning in the allocated superior cabin wasn’t working when we boarded. Not an ideal start. Although, it was quickly fixed.
At a later point the Aircon on the opposite side of the boat failed. One of the staff members, Karen, offered to swap her cabin with those worst affected. I was surprised, to be honest, that the cook was in a superior cabin, while paying customers were in standard accommodation. Jose the skipper had also allocated himself a superior cabin.
The plug sockets on the boat were European and not US as we’d used in the Caribbean. The boat was French. Again no information provided on that & no solutions offered by staff on the boat. However when we went to the office they hired out adapters for $5. The office staff sorted out the wine issue.
The staff on the boat didn’t seem motivated to sort out these quite minor issues, at all. They didn’t provide information on how to work the toilet and showers or make us aware of the USB charger points in the cabin.
Speaking to people on the sister dream charter after our trip, I strongly suspect the allocated food budget wasn’t spent on our food. We were left hungry every meal. Portions were very small and protein sources scant - some items in the freezer and on the kitchen bench didn’t appear on the menu. I think staff may have taken these. Karen, the cook, ate a lot of Doritos stored in the kitchen whilst we weren’t ever supplied with these.
Karen sulked the whole trip because the office staff reprimanded her over the alcohol issue.
Magic at the Helm, Yet Again!
Dream Yacht Charter is such a wonderful company to work with! We had another great adventure and we can't wait for our next journey! The team members are extremely helpful, responsive, kind, and fun to work with! Grenada is ABSOLUTE MAGIC and we felt very trusting of our boat!
Threat to life and health
I’ve chartered with Dream Yacht Charter for over 10 years. But my November 2024 trip aboard catamaran Lagoon 52 “Siri” in St. Martin was a complete failure — and a serious threat to the life and health of my crew.
We encountered multiple critical failures:
• Both engines failed in the open sea
• Steering wheel and autopilot malfunctioned
• Water maker, generator, and dinghy winch broke
• Bilge pump ran non-stop overnight, raising flooding concerns
• A broken guillotine door caused real injuries
We were stranded at sea, repeatedly stuck in the marina, and forced to sail under unsafe conditions. The catamaran should never have been chartered in this state.
While DYC has responded to my complaint, it’s now been over 4 months and still no resolution has been done. No compensation. No accountability.
As a long-time customer, I’m deeply disappointed. I can no longer recommend Dream Yacht Charter.
Our Catamaran Experience
Our Captain was so friendly and knowledgable not to mention his skill as a captain - just perfect. Thanks Wen! Our Steward was also friendly and knowledgable but could she cook! wow wow Thanks to Veae!!
This was one of the most amazing trips we have ever been on. Our Captain and Steward went out of their way to ensure we had whatever we needed and were comfortable. They knew so much about the islands and they made our experience a one of a lifetime!
The vessel itself was fairly new and was beautiful. The itinerary included all the wonderful sights, activities and islands in the French Polynesia that we wanted to see and enjoy.
Was a perfect vacation! We were there just about a whole month and I feel like that was the right amount of time. We leisurely saw what we wanted and had enough time at each island to take in the sights. No hurries, no worries!!!
Special thanks to our lovely skipper Anaïs…
Special thanks to our lovely skipper Anaïs! She made the trip even more enjoyable to all of us - despite a quite big passengers list.
Looking forward to chartering with DYC again very soon.
Boat totally unprepared on Check-in
The yacht was totally unprepared on check-in. Below is a list of defects:
Windlass unserviceable
Bimini missing
Sprayhood torn
Pulpit dangerously insecure
BBQ unserviceable
water tanks half empty
No tender
No boathook
Almost empty gas bottle
Handheld radio battery flat- no way to recharge (wrong adaptor). Radio was taken but then not replaced.
Broken shower duck board main heads
2x broken mirrors main heads.
Cigarette burn hole in saloon cushion.
Once we actually started sailing we found further issues:
1. The Shackle on the luff of Main missing.
2. 2nd Reefing line brand new but 3m too short to allow main to be fully raised.
3. System battery did not hold charge- max 6hrs before requiring an engine run. This was a known issue ( we were advised to run the engine for 3hrs am and 2hrs pm!) and replacing a leisure battery is not exactly a difficult task.
4. The Jib furler was so stiff as to be almost unserviceable.
5. All the Winches were stiff and required servicing
6. When the tender was provided, the outboard engine steering ‘locked up’ under load.
On returning the yacht at the end of the week, the Company accepted our complaint about the defects and issues and refunded us a days Charter fee. However, given that we had limited time in Antigua and having lost half a days sailing, it would have been far more preferable for the yacht to have been ‘ready to sail’. Less experienced sailors may also have not checked so thoroughly meaning that they would have had to return to the yard to have it repaired losing even more of their holiday.
Booked a seven day skippered sailing…
Booked a seven day skippered sailing charter in Greece. The skipper that was provided was an inexperienced sailor who chose to motor us around instead of sail. He was motoring in 20kts steady wind weather. Was more concerned about what his skipper friends would think of him (his words).
Exhumas week-long cruise: not worth the money
Exhumas Dream Premium; Bali 5.4 (but booked on Lagoon 620); Captain Alex and chef Veronica. I sent this message as a complaint to the company a month ago but never got a reply.
While the locations were beautiful, the boat and crew had a number of issues, which is just not acceptable for a cruise this expensive.
Boat:
Maintenance: the boat was old and poorly maintained. The door of our bathroom was broken and couldn't close, bringing poor smells into the bedroom at all times. The electric plugs in the room didn't work.
Batteries/generator: The boat batteries were in such poor shape that it was necessary to keep the (very loud) generator on all night long, which would have made it impossible to sleep even with ear plugs. Only after other passengers complained, the captain agreed to shut it off 9pm-6am. However, given the state of the batteries, that meant having most electric features off, including the fresh water pumps.
Cushions: Nearly half of the outdoors cushions of the boat were missing, making it uncomfortable or severely limiting where we could sit.
Cleanliness: the outdoor parts of the boat were unclean most of the time, to the point that all passengers felt the need to start wearing flip flops (also wore by the captain occasionally). It was cleaned only once during the cruise, and we believe that was only because the crew saw us taking photos of the dirt on the deck.
Crew:
Chef: the chef was quite unhelpful often to the point of being rude. Examples include: (a) when we asked the captain for a second roll of toilet paper on the 6th day she whispered in a belittling tone "another one?!" (b) when we asked her for two missing glasses at dinner she reprimanded us for not bringing back all them from the last meal (the glasses were in full view in the cabin), (c) constantly questioned us, for instance why we needed sugar for yogurt or condiments for a salad.
Captain (return to port): on the last full day (24/1), the captain decided to start returning to port at 11am, citing poor weather building up en route. This meant we lost half a day of the 6 actual cruise days. Despite pointing out that latest weather forecast indicated that conditions were not worsening during the day (using the same app as the captain--Windy), the captain still decided to go ahead with this plan. Then he disappeared as soon as we landed. We suspect he actually had other things to do on land and that was the reason to cut the cruise short. The sister cruise (also Dream Yacht Charter to the Exhumas), on the other hand, had the full day and came back into the harbour around 8pm.
Captain (disappeared): The captain was nowhere to be found on the morning of disembarkation either, meaning that not only he didn't bid us farewell nor helped us with the luggage, which we all had to transfer ourselves, with a dangerous 1 meter gap between the boat and the pier.
Last minute change of boat: although the ad listed the Lagoon 620, in the small print they say they can also host it on a Bali 5.4 (20% smaller, for the same number of rooms). Of course, shortly before the cruise we were informed that the cruise would be on a Bali 5.4. They offered us to switch to the sister cruise on the Lagoon 620, but Globe Sailor (Ruby) told us that the only room left was not superior (as we booked) and that it was close to the generator. That was a major reason for not accepting the change. We later found out that this could not have been true since the two rooms closest to the generator on the Lagoon 620 are both superior rooms.
Overall this was far from a "Dream Premium" experience and definitely not worth the money. The opinion was shared by all passengers on board.
Excellent skipper and chef
Excellent skipper and chef. Large, well presented catamaran. Great atmosphere amongst the multi national guests. Lovely locations and tour.
By Cabin Yacht Charter in Bahamas Earns an A+
We have just returned from sailing in the Exumas, Bahamas on a “By Cabin” Catamaran Charter. It was a fabulous one week vacation! Captain Alex and Tia the cook were terrific and made our journey a complete delight. The scenery was spectacular, food yummy and the company of other adventurous travelers fascinating. We plan to do more by-cabin sailings with Dream Yacht Charters - it’s an affordable and delightful way to vacation!
Dream Yachts was my worst boating nightmare!
As a novice sailor, I was really excited to join some friends on a sailing trip in the BVI’s. Dream Yachts ruined that experience.
First, within hours after getting our final payment, they switched the boat on us and then charged us $1500 extra for a different boat that ended up being a dangerous and unusable vessel. Within one hour of our first sail, the block on the rail of the front sail tore loose; whipping a 5lb piece of metal hurling and swinging through the air all over the front of the boat - thankfully it didn’t kill one of us. That essentially turned the boat into a motorboat, because we couldn’t sail for the rest of the trip.
As if that wasn’t enough, we had a dysfunctional head, the fridges kept breaking and we lost tons of our provisions due to spoilage (and they misdiagnosed the issue and then took almost a week before replacing batteries, which should have been simple).
We tried to work with them while there (they didn’t come to do repairs as arranged so we wasted days waiting, and they wouldn’t even reimburse us for the groceries that we had to replace). Since the trip we have tried many times to raise our concerns with Dream, and the customer service has been abysmal… they won’t even return our calls.
Do not charter with Dream Yachts!
BEWARE!
they clearly don’t care about their clients once they’ve returned.
We rented a Lagoon 52 departing from Martinique. Beautiful boat, good crew. Although the rental was planned for 12 days, the engine of the dinghy broke down when we were very close to the home port. The skipper couldn’t fix it, and the base did nothing either, leaving us to row every time we wanted to go ashore.
Upon our return, we filed a complaint and followed up for a month to get a response or even an apology … nothing but: “We’re conducting an investigation.” No response, total disregard … a very bad impression.
I do not recommend this provider, as they clearly don’t care about their clients once they’ve returned.
Antigua Bareboat Charter - June 2024
We have been on flotilla and charter holidays for over 20 years. 2 monohulls were chartered through the broker, GlobeSailor, with a group of family and friends and neither boat was prepared/cleaned nor fit for purpose: in fact, both were potentially dangerous. One was replaced on day 3 but the replacement boat also had a number of issues.
A claim was made, via GlobeSailor, to DYC who apologised but were only prepared to offer a small time-limited voucher against a future booking. As we had lost total confidence in them, any such voucher was of no value to us as it would remain unused.
Following a prolonged negotiation, a 10% refund on the basic price of one yacht was paid, which failed to adequately recompense us for the problems we had had on our holiday. DYC is registered in Mauritius and there was clearly no point in entering into a legal battle.
Nightmare yacht charter
After a 1 week nightmare cabin charter the company offered us 1 day money back if we were willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
Following our feedback, the agent through wich I booked blacklisted "Dream" Yacht Charter.
I wouldn't go back if they invited me for free.
As a yacht broker
As a yacht broker, I can confirm that Dream Yacht Charter adheres to the highest standards, ensuring clients enjoy their holidays to the fullest. A 100% recommendation!
LONG READ BUT IT WILL SAVE YOU THOUSANDS OF EUROS
Me and my wife booked for Sailboat Charter with Skipper with DYC on May 2024 for our plan to do Corfu for a week between 17th August 2024 to 24th August 2024. We paid full amount of the charter along with the Skipper cost on 18th of June which is exactly 2 months before our charter begins.
Once we arrived in Corfu on 17th of August on Saturday afternoon like 1pm, they told us that Skipper is not yet here and he will be here to join us by 5pm which is actually the start time of the charter. We went for shopping for 1 week in the boat and start waiting the skipper. By 6pm they told us that our Skipper actually came sick from earlier charter which has ended 16th of August at 9am. They told me to stay calm and they already found alternative and new Skipper will be at the base by 11am tomorrow on 18th and they will return our 1 day money back since we are late by 1 day.
Anyway we start Sunday and waiting for Skipper to come. Again in the morning no one is answering anything and by 2pm they told me that unfortunately Skipper decided not to come and since this is peak season, they are not able to find us another Skipper to take the boat. Hence they will return my charter money back after spending 2 misarable night in Corfu and telling me to do whatever I want to do in Corfu.
I want all of you to see multiple things here;
They were aware that Skipper was sick on Friday 09am from earlier charter arrival. They knew that my flight was on Saturday morning and we can easily reschedule our flight with EUR100-150 cost to come 1-2 weeks after. Instead they want to gamble on finding Skipper and when they failed they make us suffer.
I paid all of these money back in June and came to Corfu only with my Credit Card with small amount of cash. They are telling me that money will come to my bank after 7-10 days time and how am I suppose to plan at least 5000-6000 Euro holiday without having any plan beforehand when everything is premium price already? When I told them I don't have money to continue my holiday, they basically don't care.
I couldn't go back to Dubai because Flight from Dubai to Corfu vice versa is only once a week and I don't have any other option than staying in Corfu.
I get loan from my friends to maintain my life in Corfu. I paid triple price to all hotels because of last minute booking, I had to book premium car because everything cheap was booked way before and I went mostly shit restaurants because everything was booked weeks before.
Basically, they forced me to stay in Corfu with the money that I get loan from my friend and spend more than what I should spend on the charter by doing everything premium. Worst thing is it's impossible to find a proper restaurant to sit in Corfu during August, so you spend the money but at the end get something which doesn't satisfy you at all.
To be fair with them, I didn't ask car rental cost, I didn't ask daily spend where we pay to the restaurants etc. Only thing I asked them to pay was the average hotel cost whatever they see on booking.com to be paid in addition to charter cost. Again to be fair with them, I am not asking to pay me where I stay, I was asking them to pay me average daily charge to get lesser but at least something.
They rejected to pay anything and they only paid our shopping we did for the charter in addition to charter cost. When I push this further they told me that this is part of their T&Cs and if I want I can go to legal courts or do whatever I want to do.
In summary, if you are booking with them, you need to think this. If you are chartering a boat for 6-8 people and if their Skipper is somehow not available, you will end up 8 people to find place to stay, restaurants, cars etc. to book where you will pay completely different amount and they will only give your charter money back.
Hope this information is helpful to everyone. STAY AWAY.
10K euro lost, and not much support to rearrange my booking
I booked a charter for my family and friends, gave my head that it would be holidays of a lifetime. We decided to pay a bit more and take the boat from "the most respectful company" to be on the safe side. However, the money we paid to Dream Yacht (via SeaRadar, one of its agents operating in NauSys) seems lost.
I hope(d) that a company this size would accept the problem with its agent as its own, caring for the final client - accept internal problem, and provide a boat we paid for.
Unfortunately, to this day, we still did not receive any substantial support and still don't know if we're going or not. Plane tickets boutght, charter money spent...
Be careful, and never transfer 100% upfront, tempted by better terms and conditions!
DYC Delights in Mallorca
Fantastic week sailing with DYC in Mallorca, Spain. The DYC was very organized and the Lagoon catamaran we chartered was in very good shape. The sailing was very enjoyable. We love Spain and this was a great way to enjoy a portion of this wonderful country.
Should be renamed bad dream yacht…
Should be renamed bad dream yacht charters. Hand over of boat substandard. The guy who attended to talk us through workings of boat couldn’t wait to get off boat. Didn’t go through safety equipment. We had to hunt for life raft and flares. Had to be prompted about workings. Really poor experience and we would steer clear.
My $25,000 Mistake with this horrible company
Rented a DYC vessel for 4 weeks in Guadeloupe to Grenada. A $25,000 mistake. The boat was a wreck! We moved it from one DYC mechanic to another for two weeks. The steering failed twice, there were no reefs in the sail, only 110 foot of chain for anchoring and the batteries were dead. It took us two days to get the boat to a point where we felt we could take it from the dock. We had to call the coast guard twice when the steering failed on two occasions. So many problems! We were offered 25% of our payment as compensation! What a scam!
