The number given to call for a lift to the dept did not work. It was raining. a helpful local came to our rescue. Said this often happens.
At the depot they tried hard sell me comprehensive insurance. I refused, I never take this out .They then wanted a security deposit, which I was willing to give and have done many times before.. They would not accept three of the credit card options i had. they said I could leave if I did not like it ( when stuck at an industrial lot in Glasgow- go figure). Eventually I had no option but to buy comprehensive insurance, and they then suddenly accepted my cards. Beware of their cheap rates! A very unpleasant experience. .

In early 2026, Drivalia UK rented my wife a car that, we later discovered, had a lapsed MOT — meaning it shouldn’t have been on the road at all. My wife was using the car to drive our children around, with no idea it wasn’t legally roadworthy. Once Drivalia realised the error, it took a full week to deliver a replacement vehicle, and when it finally arrived, it had no fuel in it.
When we raised a complaint about this, the initial response was almost mocking of my wife’s concerns, rather than acknowledging the seriousness of renting out a vehicle that wasn’t legally roadworthy to a family with young children in the car. It also had no signature or named, responsible person behind it — making it impossible to know who was actually accountable for handling the complaint. For a car hire company, this raises real concerns about basic safety checks and customer care.
If you value safety, I would very much advise against using Drivalia.

Gary at the Drivilia desk in Glasgow was fantastic! Careful of the Geely PHEV, too much onscreen tech, the car’s lane correction system was annoying and unsafe at times, and had to be reset deep into settings each time getting into the car. Thanks

Booked car with them but after repeated attempts to contact the Glasgow office and no answer to phone calls (constantly said busy over the course of 2 days) i had to cancel booking. Very disappointing and poor customer service, if you want to keep business answer calls..

(Please look at the reply from the branch manager of Drivalia at the end of my Review, on the day of the event managers said it could take upto 5 days for refund, that’s what happens when you come across rouge franchise)
On 2/5/26 Saturday 12.15 noon was a perfect example where my trust & confidence I had from earlier hire from Drivalia gots shattered to extreme low.
The moment I went in there (Drivalia Tradestone Glasgow )& spoke to the manager who was in charge of the unit at that time, I had a very negative vibe as if he wasn’t happy to see me. The conversation between us was more like interrogations. I took everything in a positive way and made the payment he asked me to so that I could walk away with the car asap. But the gentleman then demanded £ 75 for delay pick up.
My point was he should have told me about it and added it to the money I made payments just a few minutes before.
So I refused to pay and requested him to waive it off if possible as I was unaware of the fact that I have to pay £75 if you come late to pick up the car.
So unfortunately I had no option other than to cancel my booking. To my surprise he then told me he can’t reverse the payment and it can take upto10 days. But me in business too I know you can just reverse the payment till an hours, it is as easy as that.
As it was the last car in the unit he probably rebooked it to the person with whom he was on the phone non stop.
Really aweful customer service. Probably as it was Saturday he preferred to get better higher rates and commissions for it as well.
Really people like this gentleman can kill businesses. Really disappointing customer service and I am still waiting on my money.
They keep on repeating the same answer as below in their reply, I have repeated the process multiple times they requested me without any results. I am sitting on 18th day where my money is held unlawfully held by the Drivalia manager where no car was rented out.
They tend to shy away from direct reply which shows their shady side of the business.
Hope no customers go through this unless they become direct victim of the unit manager like me.

Good Afternoon, Please note refunds can take upto 28 days to be finalized and show in your account in accordance to your banks processing time also. Having also checked your booking I can see you arrived after the grace period and refused to pay the late pick up fee. The agent had followed company policy and terms. No further action will be taken regarding this complaint. Kind Regards.
