On my 5th time renting with Drivila I was suddenly refused a car due to a failed credit check.
I have now spoken with them and it was the fact the desk agent didn't check with branch support.
They had assessed risk and decided local hirers were most likely to cause damage- so added a new credit check element without advising.
I initially failed this, but then when spoke with branch support was told actually I could have hired the car- but this was a few days later when I had paid double to hire with another company.
I had been a perfect customer on the prior 4 hires and the desk agent was not advised to use common sense and was told to blindly apply this new policy.
This happened on a Sunday morning- so there was less options as a customer to query.
This was a really frustrating experience after 4 prior hires which were successful.
They do a great price, but the insurance options are extortionate- so I have always had to use a broker to make it more affordable.
The first hire was difficult as it was not made clear how much needed to be on the card for a deposit (and it had to be on 1 card- which I did not have with me although I had enough over 2 cards). It was also not made clear in the conversation it was refundable as it was listed with the insurance packages as if it was an option of what is to be paid.
Once this was resolved (by the broker speaking to them on the phone for me) they were a great hire company on the next 3 hires.
Then the 5th they threw in an unexpected credit check and the branch didn't do the full checks to allow me to hire. It was only when I called during the week when it was too late to correct the error.

My experience relates specifically to the Drivalia Glasgow Tradeston Branch.
I rented a van from this location and unfortunately the overall experience was very disappointing. The vehicle condition and several important details about the rental were not clearly explained when collecting the van.
I was not given a proper opportunity to inspect the vehicle with staff before taking possession, and I only realised certain issues after already using the vehicle.
When I raised my concerns, communication was slow and required multiple follow-ups. The situation took a long time to address and caused unnecessary stress.
Although the company later acknowledged that communication could have been handled better, the outcome did not resolve the overall experience.
For anyone considering renting from this location, I strongly recommend carefully checking the vehicle condition, documentation and all terms before leaving the premises.
Unfortunately, this experience left me very disappointed with the level of service at the Glasgow Tradeston branch.

I've hired a few cars over the last few weeks and found both Kenny and Gary great to deal with. They're helpful, explain things clearly, and have given me extra support when I've asked questions.
The cars have all been clean and in great condition.

I recently rented a car with Drivalia through Expedia and the experience was extremely disappointing. Upon arrival ive been charged 35 pounds "check in fee" as u was supposed to do before picking up the car (ive never been told about it during the booking process). After paying the fee, they stated they didnt have the small car i requested and provided me with a big car.
However, when I raised it with Expedia, Drivalia had the audacity to say the charge was regarding an upgrade and not the fee (even though I sent the invoice to expedia).
It is dishonest and awful. The lack of transparency and lie is terrible and I would never recommend drivalia to anyone.
Be careful when renting with them!

First class service. Great value for money. Hired a car for £81 for 5 days and handed back really straight forward. Just make sure you have all the documents they ask for ready when taking your car out. Many thanks to Gary.
