I rented a car from DRIVALIA UK from 24 to 29 November.
They took a £1500 deposit, which was returned only after 28 days from returning the car.
I called customer service twice, asking for an earlier release. Each time I was told:
“This is stated in the contract and we will not refund it earlier.”
Yes, it may be written in the terms, but holding £1500 for a full month is not normal.
Most rental companies release deposits within 48–72 hours.
Very poor customer experience and zero flexibility.
Posting this as a warning for other customers — if you need your deposit back quickly, avoid DRIVALIA.

AVOID THESE PEOPLE
We were an hour late(not early. Late. Because of delays at luton airport) and was told by these guys that our rate have TRIPLED so what was 500something booked will be now 1300+ or no car. Lost the booking fee and being left without a car. Absolutely shocking behaviour, these people are simply thieves, looking at the reviews, we probably got better off by not renting from them, but from a decent company. AVOID THEM

Shocking experience!!!
I booked a vehicle for 6 days from Luton Airport, but our flight from was cancelled due to a national strike. I called them immediately and informed them I had re-booked a flight the following morning and would collect the vehicle when I arrived the next day. They advised me to call their customer services the following morning. They put me through to the depot who informed me that they had unilaterally cancelled my booking.
The flight cancellation was bad enough but this bunch made the situation infinitely worse!!
Absolutely terrible experience, they were incredibly unhelpful. Will never use again!!

I had read lots of negative reviews of Drivalia, but I used their Luton branch last weekend and it was a very positive experience. The transfer buses were every 10-15 minutes. Understandably the company are very careful about the condition of the car and take detailed photos before and after which they will share with you, but it was a good experience

Not so efficient
I had given a positive review. Nice clean car, easy collection and return, good value etc. I said in my original review that booking through Expedia with the extra insurance did not alleviate having £1500 held on my credit card, which was annoying. A week since returning that £1500 is still held on my credit card despite nothing owing etc. I find this totally unacceptable and will stop my using this firm again - had thought might be my new first choice for car hire, but now definitely not!
