What a joke of a service

Have tried for ages to book a driving test at my local driving test centre only to need to book at a test centre ages away, over eight months in advance because those were the only times available. Managed to book a closer test at a closer test centre only to have them cancel my test and move it to another date several months in the future, on a date I cannot attend.
Additionally, any time I go onto the website to try and book a test, I get locked out of the website. It's a miracle I managed to book one in the first place and now it looks like I'll be faced with endless cancellations. Horrible service and the people running it should be embarrassed and ashamed.

Borehamwood driving test

I had my driving test today. I was extremely nervous, but I was very fortunate to end up with examiner Lily. She was very professional, made me feel extremely comfortable, and calmed my nerves. I wholeheartedly appreciate her and her expertise in conducting my driving test. Thank you.

Why are the DVSA dealing with MOT's?

Contacted them about about an issue with my MOT. I believe the vehicle shouldn't have passed. They just didn't want to know and made all sorts of excuses for the garage concerned. I would expect it If I was complaining about a fail but this was a pass? I believe the vehicle was dangerous to drive. Also you only have 28 days from the date of the pass/fail to make a complaint. It's a bit like saying the MOT is valid for a year but in actual fact only 28 days. The MOT is about money not road safety.

The system to book a theory test is…

The system to book a theory test is terrible! This is the second time I've tried to schedule a test, and their pop-up asking me if I wanted to change the cookie settings opened. When I clicked on it and returned to my booking page (within the 30 mins booking time), they canceled my reservation. This is the second time it has happened! They then told me I'd have to start all over again, including waiting for the booking center to find more time slots, which was then 2 months later. I need to learn how to drive desperately quickly in order to seek employment, but this system is awful!

Scamming b*stards

Got told 3 days prior to my test that it was cancelled because the examiner who'd be conducting my test at the specific test centre was "sick". Find a replacement then?? My test was one of the earliest on that day as well as it was the only time and day that worked for me. They decided to push my test back an entire f***ing month. Got on the phone with them and the bloke on the line was a complete tw*t, just repeating the same BS that they have "no earlier appointments" or "replacement examiners", absolute f***ing joke. You'd have more free appointments if you weren't busy selling them off to other cancellation companies for a profit! When someone pays £62 for a booking they expect THAT booking, not a booking an entire month away.

This is supposed to be a government agency. Its an absolutely pathetic circus ran by a bunch of clowns.

Driving Test & Theory Test

I would just like to say that it is totally unnecessary to have to wait 10 days to rebook you driving test after failing it, given the fact that since COVID it takes approximately 5 months to get a test date, so with this in mind, I would think that this would give more than enough time to rectify any mistakes, which is why the 10 day cooling off plan is in force also I think the resit time for a theory should be extended, as I know someone where it took 4 times for them l to pass their driving test, which was a few years ago, therefore with this in mind with the back log, it could work out that by the time you come to book the 4th test the theory could have expired meaning you might have to resit the theory as well.

DO NOT book DVSA Canterbury examiners over zealous and racist!

After waiting months for availability for practical driving test DVSA Canterbury was the closest available test centre we drove 40 mins to get there to be told the test wouldn’t be going ahead as our car had a nut missing from one of the wheels (which baring in mind it was in the garage 2 days previously getting all the alignment, tracking and balancing and MOT done) and the garage didn’t say anything about it not being safe as the wheel nut was missing even though I told them I was preparing the car to use on my test.
The examiner was also not very professional in his manner of speaking and asked me where I was origin from (as I’m not born in the uK) and I told him firm him to say “well in the UK we have rules unlike the country your from” I found this an inappropriate comment to make as I know the rules and have taken a driving test previously.
I’d rather wait months than book again at this centre

Black market in driving test booking

HI,

I was trying to book for DVSA car driving tests for myself and could not find a test date at almost any test centre across the UK (Let alone my own county).
When I contacted driving instructors, they mentioned test booking service providers.
To my surprise there are so many booking services, who charge more than 3X times of the regular DVSA car driving fees.
It has become a rampant black market business. The so called "service providers” block as many slots as possible and resell them to naive customers. The super strict rules of DVSA passing, huge backlog created due to COVID, skyrocketing driving instructor fees per hour are some of the many reasons for vulnerable customers becoming prey to these black market demons!

Unless the government takes any action to roundup this black market, DVSA is going to face a huge reputation and trust with citizens!

I have had a smooth experience with DVSA.

No problems at all during the practical driving test.

no one answers the phone

I've sat and waited on hold for 40 minutes for someone to answer my call to book a test
What a waste of time. The online booking system is ridiculous too with some riding schools block booking out tests so individuals can't book one for themselves.. Very poor set up

Don’t care about instructors’ conduct towards students

I was touched without consent by my Pass n Go driving instructor (Trevor Scott, North Tyneside). I made a formal complaint to both Pass n Go and the DVSA. After reading the DVSA website, I had hope that they would take my complaint seriously.

The DVSA’s complaints procedure is useless. All they do is ask the instructor for their version of events. It goes without saying that 99% of instructors reported for inappropriate conduct will simply deny what happened. In the words of the DVSA, “if the instructor doesn’t respond, we won’t contact you (the complainant) again.” So if the instructor doesn't want to get in trouble, they can get the complaint closed by ignoring the DVSA’s e-mail.

I was also told that “the ADI code of conduct is voluntary, therefore not all instructors will follow it.”

So basically, there are zero repercussions for instructors who behave inappropriately towards their students.
