Disgusting service. My wife and I both worked for over 30 years and I suffered a stroke so asked for help. Tried to get universal credit same forms constantly asking my wife for proof of identity?... See more

Extremely incompetent DWP
Extremely incompetent DWP. In my own opinion the DWP is stealing money from the public and no one is stopping them! Extremely poor service as the people who answer the phone don’t know what is going on themselves. They just read the notes on their computer.
So this is what is happening, which is very scary! They sent me a letter to an old address where I haven’t lived there for 3 years, saying I owed them money from an overpayment from UC from 3 years ago. The people at my old address called to collect this letter last year. I quickly phoned DWP to ask what is happening? They asked me to put a payment plan in place while this is being sorted so that they don’t send a letter of attachment to my employer, but they did very quickly! And my employer paid them a huge lump off my salary! I almost fainted! I couldn’t pay my rent this month.
I’ve been backwards and forwards between DWP and UC to resolve this, but UC says there is no record on my file that says I owe them money for an overpayment, but DWP insists there is.
So this was what DWP does, they pretend that they’ve sent a cancellation letter to my employer and a copy to me, this is was done on the 27 January, it’s never arrived! BUT the letters for the attachment to my salary arrived very quickly AND the letter stating my direct order payment plan also arrived.
I have asked for my refund of the money that was deducted from my salary as they’ve said that as soon as it’s arrived up until the 19th Feb I will get my refund! Every day I have been calling them, but they say no money from my employer has arrived!!! In the meantime the days go by, my next salary date is around the corner AND the debit order is set for next week 28th Feb, they then steal my money again from my salary and still no refund! Then I’ve got 2 payments to claim back from them! OR are they ever going to give my refund back? And where is the second letter of cancellation that I’ve asked for?
This is a HUGE scam and people’s lives are at stake and we are helpless!!!
There are no cancellation letters to the employer, they are lying!
I’ve taken this up with the tribunal, but again they have so many of these cases that it’s scary!!
DWP and UC are in a huge mess and they are scamming people’s money right under our noses!
I have to call DWP and UC again on Monday, twice a day actually so that they have records of all my calls, they say all calls are recorded, HA! Who listens to the recordings? And is something done about it ever?
In the meantime I’m starving this month, thanks to DWP, and I hope my landlord doesn’t throw me out into the street!
When is it likely that this nightmare will end? I didn’t think that this government would do this to people!!!
I’ve thought of actually resigning my job, it is only temporary, but I will do it just to spite DWP, then join UC and then they can deduct £1 a month off my UC benefits!!! Absolutely disgusting!!
DWP are the absolute scum of the earth…
DWP are the absolute scum of the earth in my eyes...I made a universal credit claim on 8th Jan and I got a job on the 6th Feb but because I didn't wait for my assessment and told them I had found a job, they will not pay me any money during my time of being unemployed as they said I signed two days before my assessment and I stopped my claim ....so you then absolute idiots who work for DWP said I wouldn't recieving any payments although I was unemployed for over 4 weeks although I'm entitled to it..this is why this country is gone ...thanks for nothing..next I sign on I'll get on pip and get more than I need out of them idiots !!!!!
appaulling
if i could give 0 i would - i called number of times to change details for my 80 year old mum and was told to call back 4 times with different options! absolute joke and then i gave information and had to call back 3 weeks later as nothing updated

Stopped my mums pension credit for no reason, they will not listen to me when I said I have legal guardianship that I need power of attorney (not in Scotland)my mother has severe dimensia but they still want to talk to her.
Couldn’t run a bath
this is without a shadow of doubt one of the most terrible organisations to deal with, you have one person tell you one thing, and then another person tell you it’s something else entirely, if I could give zero stars I would, spent loads of time filing a new claim with these, only for them to turn around and tell me they had closed the claim and that I needed to reapply within another two weeks, absolutely ridiculous, one of the members of staff at the actual Job Centre themselves was very flippant also, on reading the reviews regarding this place I would add that I have never seen so many bad reviews about a government organisation, is it any wonder that people get so frustrated with them, ????!!!!!
DWP and DWP Debt Management are the…
DWP and DWP Debt Management are the most awful people to deal with so if you do need to speak to them, I wish you luck because they won't make it easy for you and if you do need to recover any money back from them be prepared to fight, fight and fight and also be prepared for an excessive wait until the matter is concluded, it's taken me 8 months to finally receive the money back for a civil penalty that should never of been applied, I disputed the penalty twice and escalated the case and wrote to them and I even formally complained but they didn't even have the decency to reply to my letters. So my advice to anyone in a similar situation, keep on chasing them and never give up, but be prepared for a long and exhausting and an unpleasant experience!
Oh Sabbha
Oh Sabbha - caught you this time. Don't bother providing your name if you are just going to hang up the call when you realise its not going to suit your working from home day.
If I could I would give -5 for dwp and pip…
If I could I would give -5 for dwp and pip,
I applied for it and nearly all the questions was about your back problem which I didn't have, I was about a life changing illness I have, they came back with score of 0 to begin with, then the second time they called me and said any changes i said no told the Doctor what was wrong, but the letter was sent to my old address 2 times, when I got the letter I got a score of wait for it yes you guess right 0.
I told them it's not about my back but they didn't care.
What a waste of my time to people that don't listen and take in what I said.
Why do we have people that work at the places but make it harder for your life, I have no idea why.
What a joke
Misconduct in public office.
Misconduct in public office.
These supposed "civil servants" are risking peoples lives and making unlawful and illegal decesions leading to long over complex complaints process while people loose their lives in the mean time or left unable to even access their life saving prescriptions and medications
Incapability at its best
This is a disturbing attack on the British public.
The govenment has clearly weponsised itself against claimants and all British citizens.

Complaint
They never pick up calls and took me days and hours to get a response when the calls just make sounds and ends without any warning what was happening on their end which made me frustrated and angry!
Slow service in receiving PIP claims misleading information given to me over the telephone and incorrect including long delays on service and waiting times on calls having to take my case tribunal because of lack of understanding of my health condition and the challenges I faced on a daily basic over years!
Once my existing aware was coming to a end they told me would need a review and only a 15 mins assessment to continue getting once it came to a end not fill up another form after calling the enquire line told would need to do it online in full as I did previously which time consuming and stressful for me to do then had to get extra help from the Citizen Advice to complete the full claim while being on the call over a few hours long!
No feedback regarding my experience…

Bad and poor service
DWP is a frauder and liar
Last year i have gone through hard times therefore i’ve applied for UC. To me it was a psycological torture, and i was also a victim of discrimination and severe misconduct and miscalcolation by the Job Center (no appointment given for over a month, no replies for my questions and enquieries in my journal from my work coach , the same housing documents accepted from my british house mate - wasn’t accepted from me,and i also had random calls from UC without any appoinments, and on one occasion i have been also lied by my work coach - Job center workers display a bully behavior and i never felt i wanted to be helped but i felt every single time despised and looked down. chemsley wood job center has a very toxic ambient, kind of "we against you" power struggel vibe. -I literally having panic attacks or before or after the appointments with the jpob center.
I have asked DWP to open an investigation as i felt that UC was responsable to push me into a suicidal state of mind due to the total lack of support. Despite several unreplied emails and phonecalls ,i have not heard back from noone for a very long timew until i have placed like 5-6 complaints. After around 7-8 months, i have been contacted by an agent from DWP’s wellfare department. A lady - firts seemed very enthusiastic - wanted me to tell her about my experience with UC. She assured that my case matters and she is currently investigating. The following week she wrote me an email saying that she is on my case and she’ll contact me on the following week. That was on the 16th of October. I have not heard from her since! And this is this is really tricky; if you have a case open with DWP there is nothing else you can do! ICE won’t talk to you! Nobody would talk to you, they say : Wait for DWP’s reply . BUT THAT WILL NEVER ANSWER! So this is how DWP hiding its dogdy business and misconduct! Together with UC they are only a criminal organisation! The system allows to get benefit for those who actually not in need (i can not count on one hand on how manyoccasion i talk to people who beside their full time manager job or headchef job have had -uc claim too. This people, as they not ancious about their situatiuon, they do not mind to go to trhe job center 10 times a month - they have a full tiume income plus benefit therefore taxi or public transport - not an issue. -at the same time i have been going in 5 times just to set up an online acount - yes, ridicolous that job center staff has no clue how to set up an online account therefore i had to go in 5 times... And woulkd you beleive or not, i still do not had one! That is why people who bring home thousends getting other tousends from UC , and people who actually needs support get nothing! Because the lazy and unprofessional UC and DWP agents wants only easy job: to deal with someone who is totally chilled - because doesn’t need anything!!! - on paper it looks gfood, easy job, early finish When a person in real difficulty UC and DWP is the last you can count on. This country is paradox and broken...and if you think it is broken because of the foreigners.. think again. -it is the british government and its organisation.s that broke this country... It is frightening to learn that this is how it works in the UK. UC and DWP is an organisation that totally missed the point of their exictrence, they supposrt scammers and frauders and mistreat people in real diffuculty.
Awful experience
Was on the phone with a Lisa from carers allowance this afternoon, she was not any help to me and refused to transfer me to another advisor then hung up
Customer service second to none
I phoned DWP this morning to give some further information on a claim that a member of my family is making.
The lady that I spoke with (Julie) was the consummate professional, polite, friendly and cheerful. She listened to everything I said and read it back to ensure she had the details accurately.
Having such good staff as this lady instils an air of confidence in the service and is a model of how customer service should be undertaken.
Sincere thanks to Julie and, I'm sure the rest of the team.
If a couple over 75 is receiving…
If a couple over 75 is receiving pension credit which entitles them to free TV LICENCE. You would think on the demise of one, pension credit would continue along with free TV licence. But that’s too easy.Lets make a process which is inefficient and get the widower to jump hoops in the name of process to be eligible.
Corrupt Criminals
Anyone at DWP that contributes to the death of disabled and vulnerable people need locking up in prison and never letting out. And I know you read these reviews, you KNOW you’re guilty of such crimes.
If you’re so adamant you “help” people. Then why do you continue to hide the numbers of excess deaths caused by the DWP?!
My experience with the Department of…
My experience with the Department of Work and Pensions has been deeply disappointing. It feels like most employees are more interested in finding faults and reasons to be offended than genuinely helping people. Many people who come to the DWP are already struggling and in need of support, yet instead of compassion, they often face indifference or even hostility.
Like many UK government departments, the DWP seems to paint everyone with the same brush based on the actions of a few abusive individuals. While I always try to approach meetings politely and with understanding, I have still encountered disrespect and felt insulted. Although I believe these negative encounters are not the majority, the attitude of some staff members suggests they dislike working with the public and are more focused on protecting themselves than providing help.
It’s disheartening to see that many people working in the DWP appear to be there for the wrong reasons, seemingly treating it as a job for pin money rather than a role where they genuinely want to make a positive difference. Overall, my experience has left me feeling unsupported and undervalued.
P.S. Not so with hardship payments, when you call them they treat you with respect and understanding and are never in a hurry thank you 5 stars
