Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the customer service, finding it unhelpful and difficult to reach a real person. They also encountered issues with payments, including incorrect amounts, delays, and unexplained deductions. Reviewers frequently report problems with the staff, describing them as rude, dismissive, and incompetent. The overall service is often criticized for being poor, with many feeling that their concerns are not listened to and that they receive incorrect information. However, some customers also noted positive experiences with individual staff members, describing them as amazing, professional, and helpful in resolving issues. These positive interactions often involved staff going out of their way to assist and provide peace of mind.

Poor service

I had a call from DWP. I was out, with lots of people around me so unable to talk about confidential information. The DWP suggested he could call back and we agreed 3pm the same day. He did not call at 3pm, but instead at 4.48pm when I was in a meeting and unable to take the call. I then received the following txt:
‘DWP have tried to call you twice about paying voluntary National Insurance contributions but could not reach you. If you still want to pay them, you need to ring 0800 731 0175 by 11/01/2026. You will not be contacted again’.
You don’t reach someone if you don’t call at the time that was agreed! Poor service.

After having my pip cut even thought my assessment was months before they cut it and they said they made mistake.

They did this before in past to Mr and I won at tribunal.

I am now having to do it again been waiting for over 8 months.

Here's How DWP steals from you

How DWP steals from you: a service center out of all 650 has "randomly" hijacked my account and perpetrated 3 / 3 total abuses against me, and falsified my UC capital declaring it taxable illegally, contrary to sections 46.1.b,48 and schedule 10 section 18.1.a of the Universal Credit regulations 2013 that makes it disregarded. It's Middlesborough Service Center, who also suspended my housing payment as terrorism, lying it's "investigation" twice since June 2024, infringing on the presumption of innocence. Of course they found nothing as they knew, and I been investigated since January 2024 by no less than 9 DWP "investigators", I suspect a lot more I never noticed. I sued. All DWP has to do is add a table to its database marking which cilent was investigated, and which not, but it doesn't want to, this is intentional embezzlement, sinecures, they pretend to work and use your data, "being a burden not working" in UK political speech. DWP DPOs never solved my complaints. DWP doesn't have an inner audit dept for its own Fraud etc., it's organized crime. How much chance does a known whistleblower have to be hired by DWP lol? And, the UK government is protecting it because it is the UK government

Legal accounting: if hypothetically I have 10 pounds, spend 5, I have 5 left. UC pays 5, therefore I have 10 again, out of which 5 is UC disregarded capital by the law, which replaces the other capital by this monthly process of expenditure - the law doesn’t foresee which capital is spent because it’s fungible, so UC capital remains as unspent because of the impossibility to prove which is spent or should be considered spent (it’s not statutory as proven by the very sections 46.1.b,48 and schedule 10 section 18.1.a from Universal Credit regulations 2013), and capital total is pushed up by the amount of UC income which is then UC capital, meaning regardless which capital is spent, which cumulates within existing capital, so the law doesn’t need to foresee this either which it actually does as part of the 12 months provision logic and letter of law - therefore up to a total of 12 months by regulations is UC disregarded capital

Bonus tip: how the council steals from you: the tax reductions are illegally applied sequentially, not aditively. Proof: in their regulation it is said they can't be over 100%, because when they add up its expected, such as 80% from UC + 25% single person. If they are applied sequentially, they never reach 100%. Simple 6th grade Math at most. Valuation Tribunal lied it has no jurisdiction, and has a perfect lowest score on Google Maps Reviews of 1/5. A "burden not working" as the councils. Fake UK judges are paid a minimum 8000 pounds / month

Nobody wants to be on fake "benefits", everyone wants justice and a normal life. I can prove my portfolio is worth 600 over to 600,000 over my social services I barely live on, but criminals have to be in the way. National interest has to be betrayed, and scapegoats found: Russians, Chinese, refugees etc. while the real organized crime is on the news all the time since it occupies the whole country, and its results are in plain view

DWP Stratford E15 - DO BETTER!

Before Shabana the work coach from the Stratford DWP office gives anymore advice to clients re: sick certification it may be a good idea that she undertake a quick crash course on sick entitlements to ensure that she does not mislead any of the clients that she is providing advice to. Not all employers are interested in the health & wellbeing of their staff, & not every employer offers sick pay, so before Shabana informs her clients to 'get a sick note from the doctor' it maybe an advantage to her to be somewhat aware of the general self certification process first. Maybe confirm if this has/has not been applied for as well as ascertain (for her own professional knowledge) if the same sickness benefit entitlements apply for both full & part-time employees. However strenuous her role may be she needs to remember that she exercising her role as a so called 'position of power' over clients who are receiving UC & how she wields that 'power' can make a difference to how people feel about themselves as well as their continuing search for work. So my advice is to be mindful. The authoritarian approach may go a long way to securing her next managerial role but you'll get no prizes for being dismissive & holding onto single (biased) point of view.

She is a shining example of how all telephone representatives should behave, ensuring service users’ dignity is preserved at all times. There have been other agents who were unhelpful and churlish, so on speaking to her I promised I would leave a positive review because she earned it.

Profoundly disabled person discriminated and left to die.

Phoned DWP on behalf of a client to request a reasonable adjustment for them to communicate on their UC transition. 55 minutes later they cut off the phone call after claiming the call handler was fully trained in EDI policy but their reasonable adjustments were only what was on their check list. That it wasn't based on the individual needs. When PSED was mentioned the call was cut off by them. If this person's benefits are cut off they will die as it is used for them to pay for care.

call backs are never fulfilled, most (not all) agents are rude and try to pass you on to someone else or put you back on hold any chance they get. Ive been waiting for two months to get my JSA appointment / first payment advanced. Ive lost count of the hours I have spent on hold or waiting for call backs that never come. would recommend complaining to your MP, but even then you still need to speak to staff on the phone which is near impossible. don't know why they havent just set up an online live chat already.

The DWP/our government!!!

The DWP, aka the government!
This is directed at Carer's Allowance(possibly other financial support?) .When people apply for this benefit (others too I guess?),they only apply due to needing support immediately! Why are we being made to wait for months after the application before we can get any help?? We'd have to find another, immediate solution to fit our needs! This so called support isn't that at all ! When we do that we don't need the system anymore! It's then pointless to ask for help!!This beomes a futile action! A pointless system!!
Our family has been put in danger because of this!I'm ill!Their waiting time is risking our live's!It's making my ill health worse! My husband's job is at risk too!My son is struggling to get to school on top of this! Their cruel waiting times are a safeguarding issue to the very people it's intended for!!! It leaves families in danger destitute! We need this system to drastically change to be fit for purpose to the public!!!
WE NEED TO BAND TOGETHER & FIGHT THIS UNJUST SYSTEM!!!
From a disabled warrier!

The Universal Credit phone agent lied about doing my escalation of complaint.

I have a complaint which still has not been resolved properly about communication issues and callousness from the job centre person who deliberately ordered me a wrong PC against my advice without telling me. This PC is not fit for the work training purposes as described to her of cyber security. More recently the Universal Credit agent lied about doing the escalation of this complaint by phone, because he only pretended to do it which is disrespectful and unprofessional. Now ICE,the independent complaints examiner don't want to help with this complaint on the grounds of I haven't provided the final responses, but I have described the final responses in my email to ICE as the final response from the job centre was in a video call conversation,I cannot actually do any more than describe it to ICE. Further final responses don't exist because one of the main problems with the job centre/DWP is they don't always respond relevantly,if at all to the actual issues expressed to them.
