Make sure you bring a credit card with a sufficient credit limit (when calculated in ££)

I booked my Easyrent car via the Ryanair website. Currently, all car rentals prices are much higher than before the Covid pandemic (because of the shortage of new replacement cars for their fleets, I believe). Easyrent offered a relatively good price with an acceptable (but not unlimited) mileage limit - 100 miles per day.
The vehicle was well-equipped and in a good, clean condition (although the inside of the windscreen had been overlooked when valeted - lots of satnav sucker marks and accumulated condensation haze, which were annoying in low-level sunlight).

MAIN POINT TO NOTE: Easyrent have no flexibility in their £1,500 deposit block on your credit card. I had realised, too late to do anything about it, that my 1,500 credit card limit was in EUROS and therefore not high enough. At 19h30, at an off-airport pick-up site, with no alternative car hire companies, I had no choice but to pay an additional £350 (on top of the £550 rental) for partial damage insurance, as well as a £400 credit card deposit block. Particularly annoying, as I already have an annual car rental damage excess insurance policy.

Yes, it was my fault that I was about £200 short (because of the €/£ exchange rate) on the available credit card deposit, but I was prepared to pay that amount as a "cash" (i.e. debit card) deposit, to be refunded later. But there was no flexibility - although the Easyrent staff member was as helpful as he could be.

Why I object to this lack of flexibility, is because OTHER requirements stated on the reservation form were completely ignored, despite my having carefully ensured that I could comply:
- my driving licence is in French, so I had brought my International Driving Permit
- two forms of identification are required as well as a passport or ID card. I had made sure to bring all these.
My French driving licence and my UK passport were all that were asked for.

MORAL: make sure you have a credit card with a sufficient available limit IN STERLING. But maybe you won't need to bother about anything else. (Although you'd probably better have the rest, just in case!)

scummy

Fully paid for and insured, until we went to collect it then they tried to add £900 onto a £1200 rent , the same increase happened to the customer in front of us, we never used it and contacted our bank to block any further transactions

Paid Booking = Opportunity to Rip You Off?

Plain facts: we chose the cheapest around, got the car promised, and were not charged anything extra in the end

So why just 2*? Every effort was made to make us pay for more:
- threatening that we were being reckless in not buying their insurance and stressing their ability to take £1500 from our credit card
- omitting key visual damage on the car
- refusing to add said damage to the pre-hire inspection report
- not giving us a copy of the pre-hire inspection report, saying that it had been scanned and destroyed in the 2 minutes between completion and our request
- poor reception area somewhere near the back of beyond, requiring a long journey to LTN and STN airports, at both the pick-up and drop-off point

Good value rental

We hired a car for 23 days in October 2021. The rental charge was significantly lower than the competitors. We picked up the car at around 9pm when there was only one staff member on duty. Fortunately, there was only one other person ahead of us so that the process was completed without too much delay. The staff member was polite and helpful.

The car was almost new and there were no problems throughout the rental period. The return process was quick, simple and straightforward. The Easirent office is a little further away from the airport but the shuttle bus service was fine and dropped us close to the terminal building.

I found the car hire very good value for money and would use the company again. I have received no incentive for writing this review!

Reserved with Easirent Luton Airport…

Reserved with Easirent Luton Airport via a third party. Upon collecton 1500 pound deposit required, card was declined even though funds where available so the only option is to pay an extra excess of 50 pounds per DAY. It basically feels like a scam and this company seem to make their money from selling way over priced insurance or from over pricing for minor repairs. Overall I would say even though their quotes seem competitive its far less stressful and risky just to reserve with a reputable company.

Incredibly disappointing pick up and…

Incredibly disappointing pick up and drop off process.
I was due to pick up the hire car at 8am on the day of hire. When I arrived there was no one there. When the gentleman turned up after calls to the dept he was very polite and efficient. However waiting for 40 minutes until he arrived was very frustrating
Similarly at drop off the number to call to arrange transfer from the drop off point back to gatwick terminal wasn’t answered at all. After trying a numerous times and failing to contact anyone in person on any other numbers, I made my own way to the terminal via public transport.
All in all a disappointing experience

Great service!

Professional staff but also very welcoming. Philip went out of his way to meet our needs and he made our experience with Easyrent a pleasant one. We will certainly return to Easyrent when we need to hire another car. Thank you to all!

All the stars!

What can I say, easirent by name, easirent by nature. The process was so simple, so smooth and efficient.
Every member of staff was friendly, really put a smile one your face from their interactions. I didn’t get the guys name at the desk in Manchester but he was professional, kind and lovely. Made sure I had all information before I left.
The guys at the return office in Luton went above and beyond looking after me. Big thanks to Phil and Julian the dynamic duo!
Easirent has gained a new frequent customer.

Stay away from them!

I was due to return the car at a certain time and i gave plenty of time to get to the drop off point and got stuck in a massive traffic jam. I received the car with half a tank and due to traffic, couldn’t refuel it and I explained it to the staff but they charged me £79.50 for literally 10 litres worth of fuel. This company is running a extortion racket. They have absolutely no sympathy for their customers. Please stay away from them
As they will overcharge you for every thing. There are much better companies out there.

Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs, you have been warned!!!!
This company is just out to make money in whatever non humane possible way they can.
We booked a car and when we arrived to pick it up we were told the booking was cancelled as we arrived 5 hours late. Needless to say, our flight came in late, and we still arrived on the same day. We even tried to call in and noone answered the phone as expected.
We had to argue for a whole hour with the manger who clearly told us they so not care about how people feel and that reviews don't matter.
First the manager argued he could do nothing, then after continued pressure he agreed to reinstate the booking, giving us a much worse dar and adding another 100 pounds fine for late collection.
Any company that aims to provide any service would have not cancelled a booking immediately and tried to call the number and check with customer if they are actually coming to pick up the car
Overall we were talking to robots.very dissatisfied.

I will give it out that the manager in Luton after a long argument did provide us a small discount but he could have just reinstated our original booking as he well knew he could!

Quick, Easy Car Rental Booking Process

The booking process is very simple and straight forward. We are also able to manage our booking online easily, meaning a quicker pickup of vehicle which is an added bonus. The range of cars is excellent as is the price. All in all a very quick and easy process.

Car rental at Luton airport

Car rental at Luton airport. Miles from the airport, courtesy shuttle bus is a joke, waited over an hour at terminal. Finally got to the easirent porta cabin and it was closed. Tried phoning the company numerous times but no answer. Had to them book a hotel to stay overnight at the airport and rebook another car through a different hire company. Stay away from this company absolute rip off.
