Great service at a reasonable price
I must say that I was a little apprehensive sending off my airbag ÉCU but the service I have received was absolutely amazing.
ECUTesting arranged collection which comically took 6 minutes! The DHL man was down the road when the job came available, which was very amusing when he turned up at the door as it was the 1st April!
The unit was fixed the next day and sent back straight away and when fitted back it worked perfectly.
I therefore felt compelled to write a trust pilot review and recommend them on my motorhome Facebook group too.
Absolutely brilliant from my experience.
Absolutely fantastic company with great…
Absolutely fantastic company with great staff. Took my BMW dash cluster there. Quick and efficient at the reception. Spoke to both Karen and Emma and they were both totally professional and informative. I would not hesitate to take any other items there that needed testing or repairing. I really cannot say how impressed I was with them. Completely satisfied and happy with my experience there.

My ECU needed repair under warranty…
My ECU needed repair under warranty with these guys and the work was done in their usual quick and efficient way. It was picked up and returned all no charge. Great service highly recommended.

Would not bother
Despite giving a lot of information to this company about my ecu problem before sending the unit, ECU Testing still accepted my unit and then told me it was unrepairable, doing more research since I have found out from other sources that the unit in question is always unrepairable and has to be rebuilt 100% of the time. I spent quite a lot of money to send it to them from outside the UK, they then charged me almost 3 times as much in postage to send it back to me.
Complete waste of time and money

Lies
Lies. A male opperative said he was familliar with our 2002 land cruiser ECM but whoever took over from him when the unit was taken to them became useless. I could not talk to any higher up person with more forthcoming data. It is like the secret service as usual with big companies like them. Absolutely abysmal customer care.
They are posting me the unit back but their internet chat does not know why it was a waste of fuel and time to travel 20 miles to take the unit to them because the operative said we can sort it out but then could not but could not confirm why.

Amazing customer Sevice
I made initial contact after buying a MK2 Ford Focus and it breaking down after a week.
After doing a bit of research found the instrument cluster is a common fault on the MK2 Focus. Unfortunately, it was over the Christmas period and the dealership I bought it from were not helpful at all, basically saying they wouldn't take the car back or even look at it.
I was put on to ECU testing from the Ford dealership in Chesterfield.
I called and spoke to Grant. He was simply amazing. I am autistic and was having a bit of a meltdown at the time. He was so patient and explained everything I needed to do, clear guidance and gave me prices, just generally so reassuring.
I also spoke with Joe the same day also great customer service.
I spoke to 2 other people to arrange the collection and everyone just lovely.
I got the cluster out and dropped it too them, I had a phone call the next day saying it had been rebuilt.
Not very reliable
Not very reliable. Pump failed after 12 months and they would not honour the warranty as they had already given me a refund to change my negative feedback to good feedback so most of the feedback they have is fake

Would I use ECU testing again NO DEFINITELY NOT
My background
I am a retired Electro-Mechanical Engineer [H N D] with a degree. I now repair laptops to keep my brain happy, so I am more than happy around electronics and its circuitry, why I am telling you will become clear later on.
I have an Audi A3 1.9Tdi which upon investigation (not only by me but by a vehicle diagnostics company) we both came up the same answer “this is an immobiliser fault” so the instrument cluster needs to be sent away to be tested and repaired.
So I did some internet research and came across a YouTube video ECU Testing who have 56 videos.
Upon viewing some of their videos especially relating to my immobiliser problem I contacted them and sent off my instrument cluster for it to be returned after I had paid the £208.50 plus VAT @ 20% £41.70 £250.20 (the VAT element I will come to later)
On the invoice it states Tested and repaired.
I was overjoyed I would now finally be able to get my car back on the road, plugged in the instrument cluster connected the battery (undertook a quick OBD scan with my VAG com) and tried to start the car, - - - - result NOTHING.
It still had the immobiliser fault.
So I straight away contacted ECU testing only to be told “your cluster needs to be cloned to another replacement cluster” so I purchased another cluster and sent them BOTH back to be cloned.
ECU testing contacted me and told me that “the ECU is locked”
I was somewhat mystified by this explanation especially when I had viewed a number of their YouTube videos and the website ecutesting.com and seen a considerable amount of their testing equipment and the 30,000 square foot facility.
As an example if I have a broken laptop in front of me on the bench the fault is there in front of me NOT anywhere else, I use all my skill, knowledge and experience utilising my various pieces of equipment, i.e. microscope, various DVM’s, oscilloscope, slave monitor and various testing rigs all of which bring me to a satisfactory conclusion fault identified and rectified.
Throughout this whole saga ECU testing have steadfastly REFUSED to supply me with any kind of report or diagnosis, even though they are aware of my comprehensive electronics knowledge, in an email response to my request “Our test report, however, is the document you have already received and is the full and only format of report we provide.

Audi TT instrument cluster re-fit instructions
Upon refitting this cluster, the vehicle’s immobiliser may prevent starting the car.
To prevent this from happening please scan the engine ECU and instrument cluster and delete all fault codes present.
Common fault codes stored include:
17978/P1570 – engine start blocked by immobiliser
18058/P1650 – powertrain data bus - missing message from instrument cluster
01314 – engine control module – no communications
Once this done: cycle the ignition and the vehicle will start.
>
In a word FAILED
They suggested I purchase a “donor cluster” and they would clone it for me.
Long story short that FAILED their response “the ECU is locked”
With regards to the VAT element addressed earlier.
On their ECU testing Invoice they have charged me VAT @ 20% £41.70 yet NOWHERE on the invoice does it show a VAT number.
A VAT-registered company is legally required to show its VAT registration number on all the VAT invoices it issues. This is a mandatory requirement from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) for ensuring proper tax compliance and allowing customers to reclaim input tax where applicable.
Found on the website but NOT on the invoice is the VAT number

Trustworthy company.
Sent in an ABS module for repair but after testing it was found not to be at fault. My payment for repair was returned minus an inspection fee and postage. Very professional and quick turn around.

Very poor communication and wrong info on initial contact
After a garage diagnosed a serious fault with the ECU on my van I contacted this company and spoke to a man who, after I gave him all the details including the part number of my ECU, stated they would be able to test my unit and had an 80% success rate with repairing them. Consequently I delivered the unit to them and a couple of days later received a call stating they did not have the equipment to test this type of ECU and that I should collect it from them.
When I collected the ECU I explained what I had initially been told only to be told by the lady who served me that the man I spoke to initially should not have said what he said and that she would 'listen to the telephone call I made to them'.
Not a lot of use really and it set me back over a week while I found another ECU company who were able to sort out the problems I had within 3 working days.
