You could get a surprise huge bill, here's why....

I was a free efax user for years. Was happy to pay the monthly fee when they required that.

Here is why I cancelled and an important thing you should know to avoid a huge unexpected, credit card bill.

1. They have you credit card on file.
2. If you go over the limit off incoming pages you will be charged for each addtl page.
3. You do not have the ability to see that the fax conatins 75 pages or 25 pages and not accept or open to avoid the charges.

Say you ask your Doctor to send you last exam notes but instead they send 10 years with of info, many, many pages. You will be stuck with a huge charge on your credit card. Thats a legit fax but you dont want it when you see how many pages. What about a wrong # or solicitation? Your screwed.

4. I asked the lady if I get a huge fax and before I open it can I request it be deleted to avoid the charge? Answer, no once it's received you are billed no refunds.

Very risky, you've been warned.

Incoming faxes are automatically delivered to your account regardless of length. Unfortunately, we don’t have a way to notify you in advance of the number of pages being sent before the fax is received. For this reason, it’s always a good idea to communicate with the sender in advance especially if there's a possibility the document may be large to avoid unexpected charges.
We understand your concerns, especially when it comes to unexpected large faxes like medical records or wrong numbers. While we don’t currently offer the option to preview or reject incoming faxes before they are processed. Thank you for your feedback, and we're truly sorry to see you go.

The ease with which you can use internet based faxing is great. Customer service support was great even to downgrade as extensive service not needed.

Impossible to Gain Access to Account

Impossible to Gain Access to Account. Everything is an auto response, nothing gets read or answered by a human. Say to chat with them online but it doesn't work. On the phone you're on hold forever and then they can't help you. Trying to get someone to help me gain access to an account that we're paying for each month (for at least 12 years) but can't get into.

Stefan provided excellent services

Stefan was a great help. It took a while to find my account since the credit card number was an old one. Stefan was patient and customer focused to solve the issue. Incompetent finance department

We are a non-profit and in 2024, after several years of working with these people, we were hit with a $910 bill for invoices we were never given. This was from most of 2023 and part of 2024. So, we gave them a credit card to continue with payments so this would not happen again. Then, shortly after, we cancelled with them. Now, June 2025 and we are told we owe them more money from last September!? They need to hire competent finance people as no business should be receiving invoices from a prior year, especially two years in a row!

Unable to cancel service

I am unable to get anyone to cancel my account. I sit on hold forever when I call them, they don't respond to support emails, their online chat is useless. I can't find the account cancellation link from my billing page.

To clarify, if your account has no past-due balance and you're on a monthly plan (not an annual subscription), you should be able to cancel directly from your Billing tab. Here's how:
Log in to your account.
Go to update account or account details then Billing tab.
If eligible, you’ll see the option to cancel your subscription.
If you still don’t see the cancellation option or are running into issues, please double-check that your balance is clear and that you're not on an annual plan. If everything looks good and the option still isn’t visible, we’d be happy to assist further—please message us at: socialsupport@efax.com and we would be happy to assist!

TERRIBLE service and a complete…

TERRIBLE service and a complete rip-off. They charged me $10 for ONE PAGE over my piddly 10-page allowance for the subscribed month. They didn't send a receipt to notify me of the charge and it isn't under the Billing info on their page because they want to run up a bunch of charges without you knowing. They refused to give, or even consider, a refund.

Also, you get so much spam! I wouldn't be surprised if it is from them to eat up your page counts.

The website is very clunky and buggy. I needed to fax a request (a kind of big ask) and efax sent that fax 11 times! The recipient that I was asking a favor from was bombarded with 77 pages.

Also, both customer service AND I cancelled the service, and they STILL charged for another month.

Do yourself a favor and find another service.

UPDATE: efax's reply to this review is a smoke screen. I reached out to them multiple times, including at the email address provided.
