Jacopo, our tour leader was AMAZING. He was very knowledgeable and kept us on track. However, the tour itself was just ok. It appears that EF Tours took it upon themselves to cut corners on our entire experience. The hotels were subpar, but nice; however the entire food experience was a fail. Our entire menu consisted of pasta with sauce and nothing else. I understand most Italian food consists of pasta, but that is what we were offered - every. single. meal. We were excited about trying out different cuisines, but we were given the cafeteria food version of the tour. The menus looked great, but not our meals. Lucky for my son, I was able to take him away from the tour to try out different restaurants and different types of food that Italy had to offer. The fact that most of our hotels kept us out of the main cities also limited our experience as so much time was spent on the road to our destination and/or hotels. The fact that a tip amount was requested AFTER the fact also bothered me. It is my understanding that there is no tipping overseas. I think this rate should be added to the initial cost rather than the tour leaders asking for tip money from each participant. I appreciated the small size of our group and would consider going again if these things were noted.
I feel like our tour was so rushed and the hotels were not good. The guide was very knowledgeable, but it seemed like we were a "group" and not a tourist. We were made put out to accommodate other tourists, so it seemed. I would like to go back to Italy and do things on my own as to enjoy it more.
Loved this trip! Our Guide Jocopo and all the audio guides were great. I wanted more od the history. Would of liked to go into Peter's Basilica. maybe add another day in Rome and less time in Venice.

If you're interested in traveling and exploring the world with students (while you get a free trip!) EF is the team you need! The pre-trip team is stellar: they explain the whole process, all while guiding you through recruitment, timelines, and logistics. Once the travelers are signed up, they coach you through meetings with the kids and parents, ultimately leading to families that feel safe, and kids that are excited and ready to go! The tour directors are capable, friendly, and can problem-solve on a dime! The care that EF takes with its clients is evident, and the fact that I have many repeat travelers means that word-of-mouth amongst students works wonders for planning future trips. I will be adventuring with EF as long as I continue to teach!

The choice of hotels were poor and in bad neighborhoods. The food quality lacked and to be charged for services the hotel offered was bad. We had to walk in trash just to get to our hotel, our guide was very helpful and kind. The hotel offered swimming pools but charged us to use it or was closed when the kids got back (closed at 8pm), audits asked to use showers no bigger than a closet, and water didn't drain from the shower. I have done EF tours before and had no trouble but would not recommend this tours to anyone.
This tour was full of adventures and a wonderful way to see some of the most beautiful cities of Italy in just a short amount of time.
