Our tour guide Luc, was excellent, very friendly and knowledgeable, but some of the hotels and restaurants were very cheap and low quality. Not a lot of options for food and in Greece we pretty much ate the same meal everywhere we were, not a lot of diversity. In Italy the pizza restaurant we went to was maybe a 2 star restaurant, very small and the food wasn't good, which being in Italy you expect a better pizza... That was very disappointing considering the amount of money we pay towards the trip itself. Some of the hotels were also poor quality, in 100 degree weather the room's a/c did not work for most of our stay in Italy and in Greece the hotel a/c took over an hour to start cooling off. I love all the places we visited and the tours were amazing but the food an accommodations need improvement.
Would do it again! Scheduling on travel days could use some tweaking so that we aren't too tired to enjoy.
Just got back from the 10-day Greece and Italy tour with EF and it was incredible. Our guide Yorgos was so friendly and made the whole group feel comfortable from day one. Any time we had questions or needed help, he was right there, and he was really flexible whenever plans had to shift around. You could tell he genuinely cared about making sure everyone had a good time. The trip itself was well organized and hit all the highlights without feeling rushed. Would book with EF again, especially if Yorgos is leading the tour!
We had a great visit to Greece and Italy. I hightly recommend EF Tours.
The excursions were great. There was an incident that was not handled properly and caused me and my daughter anxiety for the remainder of the trip. It’s hard to have to still share the experience with someone that open threatens you in front of everyone. No one from EF checked on me or discussed how the situation would be handled.
Loved seeing the historic sites and getting to experience Athens, the monastery atop the Meteoras, Florence and Rome. We also added the Madrid extension but wish there was more planned to do there as wandering in extreme heat was rough.
I had a lot of fun exploring all the archeological sites and I appreciated that we weren't limited to exploring only with a guide, we had free time in the sites. Our tour director, Angelos, was fantastic and made the trip ten times better simply by getting to know the travelers and sharing his personal experiences and knowledge of the locations we visited. Only downside is that sometimes the dinners were a little less than good.
