Elan refuses to be helpful

Elan is absolutely the worst among card issuers. Every question that arises results in a card being closed and reissued. Elan’s antiquated and inefficient systems have only one solution, close and reissue with new number. This is doubly annoying because the clowns do not assist with transferring recurring items after they close the card. I use the card for business purposes and pay the balance in full monthly. A question about an unrecognized $40 charge and card is closed. I was promised Saturday delivery for the replacement card and oops they set it for Monday. Unfortunately, two recurring charges hit while card is in transit and now I must deal with corrections and fees. All could have avoided if they had met their commitment to deliver on Saturday. The solution from Elan/ they will not authorize the charge or provide information over the phone for it to be paid but will offer me useless rewards points. This company is a complete failure. Any bank allowing Elan to issue cards in its name does not care about its reputation or customers!! The pathetic excuse for a service representative suggested the problem is probably where I live, perhaps no service on Saturday. Amazing since I received both UPS and FedEx delivery from better companies today.

Probably the worst. run away and don't look back

With the exception of one experience with a kind person in customer service a month ago, this has been by far the worst financial service I have ever dealt with. Phones can ring for an hour at a time and nobody will pick up. I have been yelled at by them for asking a question about a term that they blurted out. If you enjoy being confused and abused, this is the company for you.

Atrocious experience

Atrocious experience. Technical issues that created delayed payments that impacted credit score. Agents lying and making it difficult to file disputes, pointing fingers at their partners when they can resolve the issue for the customer vs making them go between. Just awful.

Update: the only method to file disputes is through fax or letters mailed, which is clearly Elan Financial Services making it hard for customers to file disputes. Who does this? These methods pre-date the internet!!

Horrible company...

Horrible company...I've been with Elan Financial for over 10 years and never had a problem until now. I've been told in order to increase my secure cc and add a joint person (my husband) I'd have to submit a request in writing through the mail along with a money order. I've done so and now a month later they claimed they still haven't received my request at first..I called back and then they say underwritten rep told me that they received something but don't know what it is and that I should stop the payment on the money order. That was very disturbing to me as to not being able to explain to me why. I called back and Elan told me that they never received anything and going to investigate it. Was told the next week that they only received my money order and that they are going to escalate my account and to call over the weekend. I called and now they are saying that they never received anything again. I'm worried because there's now a breach of me and my husband's personal information. Need help please

Update: It's been over 2 weeks now and still no help and was told to put stop to the money order. I don't trust them anymore..

Cancelled my VISA card without warning

I have had a VISA card through my credit union for over 15 years. Elan Financial Services services this VISA. I keep this card for emergencies and rarely use it. I recently received a letter from Elan telling me that they closed my account due to inactivity. I was never given a warning. I called to get the account re-opened, but re-opening it would be a hassle. CS wasn't very helpful so I think I'm better off without this VISA through Elan. (And I've read nothing but negative reviews about them.) I have excellent credit so I doubt this closed account will hurt me.

Their service has gone to crap

Their service has gone to crap, and they take the easy way out and blame Covid. I had extra security on my account because my online account was hacked, and they turned it off without my permission. They lady who answered my call didn't even know the extra security existed. The reason I wrote this review, was today for the first time in 15 years as a customer, they texted me at 2:00 AM to tell me my statement was posted. Who texts people at 2:00 AM and wakes them up, besides drunk ex boyfriends?

If I could only give this credit card company MINUS five stars

If you have a choice between credit card companies, ALWAYS choose against Elan. They are incompetent and have created immense problems with improperly managed payments, credit holds for messed up and even fraudulent reasons. If you are stuck with them, sorry for you, but if you have a choice, avoid them like the plague and choose more customer-centric and competent credit card providers such as Chase Bank or Citigroup credit cards.
