Today they ripped me off with the price…

Today they ripped me off with the price of a catalytic converter, it came straight off a 2017 Vauxhall Combo 1.7l diesel van, the first price quoted was £252 then changed to 3/4 of this price after giving some nonsenical reason. The question is, is this a common occurence at EMR Metal Recycling ?

5 Stars from start to finish

Process from start to finish couldn’t have been simpler.
Put my Reg in. Was quoted a price online. Received a call within 1 hour and advised to upload v5. Uploaded docs, 1 hour later I received a call saying it would be collected by 1pm. At 1:05pm I received a text staying the payment had been made.
Within an hour the full balance quoted online was paid into my account.
Great 5 start service

Absolutely great experience with my day…

Absolutely great experience with my day return to Derby from St Pancras. Polite and very helpful staff, clean trains and excellent timings. Would have gone by car but so much easier to use this train company. Thank you all at EMR for a wonderful stress free day out.

EMR -5

I along with 5 (out of total of 10 staff) other Staff were made redundant in EMR Brentford in 2020, this included the depot manager, Weigh Bridge administrators (one of which refused to work on a Saturday) ELV Operative, Forklift/Shovel driver and a part time crane operator. Furloughed was started around late March/April 2020 and the depot at Brentford was closed for a period of time due to the lack of business, ( I understand this unusual time ), I now see advertised on LinkedIn and Total Jobs the positions that were made REDUNDANT 6 MONTHS ago are now being re advertised on the above web sites through different agencies. Can somebody out there please let me know if this is the correct working procedures or is there a case of UNFAIR DISMISSAL (During the extended furloughed scheme) for the 6 staff who were made redundant, any advice would be helpful, Many Thanks

EMR are advertising again for a weighbridge administrator (am I surprised not !!!), this position is a very confrontational and abusive job, the public you deal with can be on occasions very, very awkward and without the support of the depot/area/general manager, they would rather stab you in the back than lose money from the business, I would recommend anybody to stay away from this position having worked at Brentford for six years (2014 to 2020) because you have to work on your own with virtually no support) email me if you want a chat about this advertised job (overworked under paid, stay away if you have any common sense)

I have received a reply from EMR (I don’t know who asked me to reply, I have asked for a contact name, but no joy, I’m not surprised) and they asked me to reply and I named names times and dates (over two weeks ago) without a reply.

Scrapped my van and was quoted £225.00,
When i took the van in everything was as quoted.
I subsequently got my payment 3 days later but was only paid £209.00. so much for there (WHAT WE QUOTE IS WHAT WE PAY) I phoned up three times and was told that they would look into it, I have never had my calls returned as they said they would, I have also emailed them and not had a reply.
Absolutley terrible service and OUTRIGHT LIARS.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Hi Peter,

I understand you've now spoken to one of our vehicle managers to resolve your situation. We're sorry the original payment was incorrect, due to an administration error, and hope this has now been resolved to your satisfaction.

Cronyism rules...

Worked here for 6 months, some very good people but some far from.
Cronyism is rampant, definitely who you know as opposed to what you know.
Massive breaches of both environmental law and H&S regulations.
I was unfairly dismissed, area manager took no action against another employee who committed far more serious breaches of company policy than what l was dismissed for.( I genuinely did not know l had breached the rules due to poor training and seeing the yard day manager doing this and far more on multiple occasions) This day manager took a dislike to me and tried all he could to make my position difficult.
When l was dismissed l provided the area manager with video evidence of this manager committing many more serious breaches of EMR's H&S, after he told me that what l had done was such a serious breach of EMR's own rules he had no option but to dismiss me. (Coincidentally my position was given to a friend of his) When l committed this breach of EMR's H&S l was immediately suspended, leading to investigation and dismissal. After providing the area manager with the above-mentioned video evidence no actions were taken against the yard day manager. I appealed the dismisal and this was conducted by the general manager, who when l asked him what would have happened if it was him who did what l done? He replied he would have been dismissed the same. I then asked him to explain why the yard day manager had not been suspended investigated or anything as l had been following the clear evidence that l had provided to the area manager weeks earlier. He said he knew nothing about this so something that the area manager had no option to dismiss me did not even get a mention to the general manager!! I don't know whether he did or did not, but it shows the level of cronyism at this very high level of managment.
As and when the covid19 allows authorities like H&S, and the environment agency to give full attention to reports of wrongdoing l have some very damming evidence showing some of EMR's working practices. This was told to the general manager at my appeal who wanted me to provide but l know it would be so he could know exactly what l held and do a damage limitation exercise....
Will be interesting to see if the higher level of managment wish to respond, meet and learn more about the way the company operates....

An absolute disgrace

An absolute disgrace. I decided to try EMR as a potential new business proposition and tried the Gloucester branch out by taking a set of 5 alloy wheels and some other aluminium pieces.

I turned up with my 2 year old fast asleep in the car and was told that I had to get off the premises because of my son.

This was around 11:20am on a Saturday morning.

Ok, rules are rules... I turned around and took my son home and drove back to do as requested.

I turned up at 11:43am and was told by the staff (very abruptly) that they'd closed.

When I pointed out that the website stated that they were open until 12pm they replied that they finished at 11:45am and it was tough.

I spoke to the office staff who had asked me to leave the premises just 23 minutes earlier and he wasn't interested.

A complete waste of time and space. A wasted morning and obviously they won't be receiving my trade. I'll continue to use my existing recycling centre for my business of waste aluminium... which is a lot more than a set of alloys as I run an aluminium/steel stocking company.

I would avoid this business at all costs and look to other recycling centers who are actually interested in doing business.
