Their technician came for annual…

Their technician came for annual inspection of furnace. Scoped it and claimed the heat exchanger was defective. Issued red tag A and declared the furnace unusable. He then started pushing us to rent their furnace or heat pump at ridiculous prices. And threatened us if we don’t act now, the gas to the house will be shut off. Had to get independent HVAC company to install a new unit to resolve the tag. The independent HVAC confirmed that there was nothing wrong with our furnace. It cost me a few hundred dollars plus time and time without heat. Can’t believe such a large company would scam people like this.

The company failed to maintained the HVAC and respect billing agreement

The company failed to maintain the heating and air conditioner properly, on 4 visits only 2 technicians seem competent. The support staff for the billing are incompetent and not to be trusted. I had contracted a maintenance plan for heating and air conditioning to test the quality of service prior to replacement of the system this year and they failed miserably.

I spent 1 hour and 52 minutes on the…

I spent 1 hour and 52 minutes on the phone with Enercare today, Feb 26, 2026 on behalf of my mother. It was the most painful 2 hours of my life listening to the lies and deception. Buy a water heater from a reputable company. DO NOT RENT EVER FROM ENERCARE!! When my mom purchased the home in 2019 she did not know the water heater was rented. She got her first bill in May of 2024, 4 years later. No call, no bill, no notice, no inquiry... nothing. Everyone was sound asleep at Enercare for years during Covid. The bill was outrageous. We negotiated a 300.00 deduction from the rental amount owing (over $1000.00) in May of 2024. Fast forward to today That agreement. Yes have the case numbers. It was not honoured. The full amounts re-appeared on the bill. She paid it. They ALSO said the rental contract would end in 2025,November. Today I was advised by Laura, the ENERCARE manager that we owed 672.00 plus tax 739.32 to buy out the equipment and end the rental agreement for a buyout, I think... it was so confusing. I asked her to send me the details via e-mail and she explained that this was confidential information. Specifically, the model number of the water heater was confidential because there were other buyers with this model number and they could be comprimised and the contract was confidential because it was signed by the previous owner of the home and she could not share the details. Before getting to speak to the manager, we spoke to a rep who lied and lied and lied. It was great that my mom kept all of the case numbers from previous calls because once he realized he was caught, he put the manager on the call after multiple delays. One hour of... I am trying to find a manager but they are busy. He said there were no previous cases and when I started naming all of the previous case numbers he knew he was caught. They rely on your ignorance. Write your CASE NUMBER, THE DATE, THE PROBLEM, AND THE OUTCOME. KEEP TRACK!!! End result, we got the basic info we need to sell the house honestly to a new owner. Shame on Enercare who was unwilling to share information that rightfully should be shared with a new homeowner. Case number 42214176. I have no blame or anger on the previous homeowners. Bless you for geting away from this nightmare company. A new, owned, hot water heater installed costs $2200.00 taxes in. With Enercare, this contract has been $4,800 and there is 7 years left to rent. Borrow the money and use a reputable company if you must. Shame on you Enercare.

Every year these crooks are increasing by the bills, every single year!!! Stay away from this company. We have water tank rental with them and a couple of months ago also got the water filtration system. So 2 months later after the purchase they increased the cost. Unacceptable!

Lucas G to the rescue ...

I took the day off work to have a condensate pump installed. Customer service arranged for a technician and not an installer. :(
Fortunately, 30 minutes after I was told this - the assigned technician (Lucas G) said he was going to install it himself. This technician has come to my rescue a number of times when other Enercare technicians have not. He is highly skilled and extremely due dilligent. His custmer service demeanor is beyond reproach. Thank you again, Lucas!!

I have been making monthly payments for…

I have been making monthly payments for 2.5 years due to a contract that was entered into by the builder without my knowledge or consent. To date, I have paid approximately $1,900.
I clearly stated that I do not have a signed agreement. They have been unable to provide any contract bearing my signature, and instead have attempted to negotiate a settlement. Initially, they requested a buyout amount of approximately $2,200, later reducing it to $1,500 + HST. They also stated that they would remove the tank only if I signed a confidentiality agreement.
I have already paid approximately $1,900 for a unit with an estimated market value of $1,000–$1,500. Despite being unable to produce a signed agreement, they continue to demand an additional $1,500 + HST. They are continuing to charge me unfairly without proof of an authorized contract.

Recent experience indicates they are not following professionalism

Recent experience indicates they are not professional about their services. On January 28th, 2026 a service was booked for regular furnace & AC maintenance. Technician called me and told he will be here in about 15min. He never showed up. Later Enercare send me email invoice. Though invoice bill was $0.00 as I had contract of rental equipment with them. I replied through email and said, nobody showed up for maintenance. I called their customer service and talked to him about this issues and requested to speak with their Supervisor. Supervisor was not available until 9am. I requested him to ask his Supervisor call me back. Since then I didn't receive any call or any update on this matter from Enercare. I lost confidence on their service standard and didn't call for further maintenance yet.

Please DO NOT sign up, Enercare Protection Plan for Furnace or Air-Condition

Please DO NOT sign up, for Enercare's Protection Plan for Furnace or Air-Condition. Speciously, Do Not enrolled into promotions... free for 12 months. Enercare will send the technicians upon customers' request if any issues arise to diagnose and fix Furnace or Air-Condition as part of their maintenance plan, BUT "be Cautious," that you might take a significant risk of loosing your entire unit. Most of the time technicians declare,"Fail to Operate" during inspection, more over, suggest you to fix with larger bills or even try to convince to buy and install their own units for profit. In addition, customer service will continue to bill you even after the free promotion has over. Even though, you have called and cancel the services before your term ends. Enercare customer service team members are well trained to not to follow proper protocols.... even on their managerial level....SCAM SCAM SCAM.

Zero customer support

I have been trying to find a person to talk to about the ever increasing cost of our water heater, with no success. They don't even come out and service the thing. It's getting older and the cost just increases. A very frustrating experience.
