I decided to join a gym just under a year ago. I'm middle aged, was a 20 a day smoker, weighed nearly 13 stone (i'm only 5'5'), and was finding simple, every day tasks like walking up a flight of stairs or a slight hill incline or bending down to tie my shoelaces really hard. My leg muscles would be screaming and I was constantly out of breath. I decided to take the bull by the horns, stopped smoking and joined Energie Fitness in Dumbarton with a friend and have not looked back. It was not easy at first because I was so unfit, but with the support and encouragement of all the instructors and fellow members, I have stuck with it and slowly but surely my health, stamina, flexibility and general well being has greatly improved. The staff in this gym are just fantastic. They encourage and, if you want, push you every step of the way. They are very approachable and friendly and never make you feel stupid or embarrassed. They take great lengths to make sure you are doing the exercises correctly to avoid any injuries (something that a lot of gyms don't/can't do as classes are often too large for instructors to keep an eye on beginners or people who think they're doing the exercises right but they're not). I have a friend the same age as me who has completely "wrecked" her knees simply by doing squats and lunges incorrectly. Full marks here. I love it!!

Love this gym
Love this gym. Have been a member since it opened and its a great addition to the community. The facility is large with plenty of top of the range equipment with a large free weights area and yard area which has ropes, trx and punch bags. There are plenty of varied classes and the steam roam and sauna is a nice addition.
The staff are all brilliant too.

Really pleased with the gym on the whole. Enjoy all the classes - good value for money
Always friendly and welcoming - good instructors.
My only criticisms would be since you have asked :-
Sounds petty but quite often the white paper roll has run out and you have to ask for it to be filled to clean machines - an eye should be kept on it as I've noticed a lot of people don't bother to clean machines after use and especially just now with all the media coverage on coronavirus.
Toilet area isn't always as spick and span as it used to be when it opened
Priority booking should be given to existing members who have been there from the start - there is no scheme for loyalty to those of us who have paid every month and have to go on the waitlist for classes since the new year and all the new year resolution folk have been going gym crazy - I know it will soon die down. Its unfair to ask us to pay for the more expensive membership when we mention it - we have been your regular bread and butter for the past year.

Newly joined for the past 2 months. Can’t commend this place highly enough. I have been welcomed, made comfortable and enjoyed the classes I’ve booked. My entire outlook on fitness has changed and I enjoy it. It’s a friendly non judgemental free space and I look forward to my classes.

The only reason I have given these stars is that I am pensioner so I only go to 2 classes which is yoga but is very difficult to get a place as it is always full, and there isn’t enough classes for us oldies

Gym is great
Gym is great. The place looks pristine, it’s like it only opened yesterday! Only issues are that the weights sectioned is often too busy, the hr monitor on the step machine has only worked about 10% in the last 5 months and the cardio area is too hot. Apart from that, top notch. I recommend to anyone looking at joining a gym.

Bins always full, paper dispenser empty
I have deducted a star because every time I’m in, the bins are full and staff need to be prompted about the bins and the paper towel dispenser being empty. Staff should be vigilant in checking these

The reason I have rated this gym 5 star…
The reason I have rated this gym 5 star is because it's an outstanding gym, staff are very helpful and it's always clean when I attend first thing in the morning as well.
The set up in the gym is brilliant as well, it's very spacious and even has a yard situated right at the back of the gym to workout as well which is brilliant. And I love the fact it has a sauna and steam room which I use regularly. The juice bar is handy to have as well, getting refreshed before or during a workout is ideal 😁.
