As a student, I invested in a one-year Envato subscription, only to have it abruptly suspended due to alleged “security concerns.” Despite repeated requests, I never received a refund or a clear explanation. I’m extremely disappointed—this feels like my hard-earned money is being unfairly withheld. I only used it on two computers and never even shared it anywhere

A lot of projects on Envato are not working and after purchasing the developers are asking for a lot of money to make them work.

Stay away from Envato/Codecanyon

If I could give this company NO stars, I would. This company is a SCAM. I purchased a subpar theme and attempted to submit a refund request the next day. I was pushed around to different customer service personnel for a month until I was told that the product indeed worked. First, there is no such thing as customer service; they do not listen to the customer, and therefore, they do not have to stand behind their products, allowing them to sell faulty merchandise.

i cancelled my subscription since mounths ago but i find they charged me today 34€ from my card!!! This site is pure extortion!

This website is deceptive with its pricing. Says $16.50 and then the button "Get Started", but when you click you realize that the $16.50 is only available for the Annual package. It's actually $39 a month.

Envato displays a prominently featured $8.99/month price with no clear indication that this is only available with annual billing. There is no visible mention of “billed annually” — no asterisk, no explanatory text, nothing. Yet I was charged $17.99, which was not shown anywhere on the screen.

Their response? “That price is only for annual plans.” Then why not say so up front? I asked for a refund and cancel my subscription and they responded "you can switch to annual if you want to pay 8.99$"

Decent, cheap themes. But you get what you pay for. The support is often lacking, most themes are not well optimized nor very customizable. But the worst part is if you have issues with a developer (for instance refusing to provide support), then Envato will do nothing to help you other than offer a refund.

Rude and arrogant customer service. Delay responding to emails to wear the customer out and will still not solve your issue. Will keep going in circles and waste subscription money.

Those ppl who review videos does not have any knowledge about video!

SCAM!!!! Reeled in with a student rate, ended up paying double & unable to download purchase. Customer Support replied once and never heard from again after I called them scammers/scum of the earth. Also now unable to cancel subscription, they have removed this option for me - ‘Cancel subscription’ is not in the location it’s supposed to be. No contact number. Can’t buy anything online these days.
Had to cancel my card so they don’t take more money!! Asked my bank for a refund, should receive it in a few weeks. Complete waste of time & energy.

Very disappointing experience. Customer support does nothing beyond sending automated replies. I was looking for an online platform to edit video templates—something like Animoto—and ended up on Envato. Initially, it seemed like the subscription was $16/month, but I later realized it’s actually $42/month unless you commit to an annual plan. On top of that, it’s not even an online editor. You only get to download the templates and then need software like Adobe After Effects to edit them. I canceled right away and requested a refund or at least a partial refund, but the response was a simple and firm no. Definitely not recommended.

Recently, I purchased a plugin from Codecanyon.net with Item ID: 11453104, paying a total of $42 USD including charges. Unfortunately, just a few days after the purchase, my account was disabled without any notice or explanation.

I tried contacting their support multiple times, but I never received a response. I didn’t even log into the account after purchasing — I didn’t violate any rules. Then why disable my account? Isn’t this a form of digital fraud — taking payment and then disabling the account?!

This isn't a one-time incident! One of my buyers faced the same issue a year ago. He purchased a source code for $62 USD, and shortly after, his account was also disabled.

When the purchase code did not work, I contacted support for help I even gave them access to my website so they can see that the purchase code does not work they kept insisting I contact the author for better assistance, but the author did not get back to me. I filed a Charge-back dispute with my credit card issuer and was able to get my money back plus the seller was hit with a penalty fee. I tried this code for 5 months on 30 websites it just did not work. I'm so glad banks give you up to a year to file a dispute.
Now they are asking me to make a Video of me trying the purchase code, what a joke...

Purchased a Wordpress theme, only for them to lock my account and therefore my access to the product and its license. Now i'm losing time and money having to stop work on a client project, because i'm being told that support could take as long as 7-9 days to reply to me.

I purchased a faulty WordPress module on Envato and never received a refund, despite providing clear evidence. The support team delays responses for days or even weeks, seemingly to push you past the 30-day refund window – after which they demand even more proof.

I spent hours trying to install and troubleshoot the theme. After I sent detailed screenshots of the issues, I received a response weeks later, asking for new screenshots. By then, I had already uninstalled the broken design, and I would have had to reinstall the faulty product just to reproduce the errors again.

This process feels like a deliberate tactic to wear down customers and avoid refunds, while sellers are never held accountable.

Never again. Envato offers no real buyer protection, slow support, and a deeply frustrating refund process.

I purchased multiple products from Envato Market, and when one seller ignored my support requests, I opened a PayPal dispute.
Instead of helping, Envato locked my entire account, blocking access to over $300 worth of unrelated purchases.
They punish buyers instead of fixing real problems.
Their platform makes it nearly impossible to get proper support, and they protect bad sellers over honest customers.
Be careful — you risk losing everything you buy if even one dispute arises.

This platform is a waste of time. I poured weeks into building a WordPress plugin, complete with a licensing server, a full demo site, documentation, preview assets — the whole package. They hard-rejected it in under 10 minutes. No feedback, no review notes, not even a generic reason. Just a cold, dismissive hard rejection.

If you're a serious developer thinking of submitting here, don’t bother. They don’t value your time, your effort, or your work. You’ll get ghosted and discarded like your project means nothing. Save yourself the energy and go where authors are actually respected.

once you got their subscription no way you can get out of it so stay away. they charge me every year even i have cancelled and their support team ll never get back to you so if you are ready to for life time subscription sign up
