Show Treka 2008 - a little gem

I have a 2008 show treka which i have now owned for 2 years. I bought it as a fill in when i sold my big horse box whilst i looked for a 4.5 tonner. Ive got to say ive been impressed (which takes a lot) as i didnt rate equitrek before owning one. Its nothing flash, and the interior reminds me of a 1970s caravan, but its proudly done the job. My daughter and I have done pony club camp and had great nights sleep in it as well as using it for whole day rallies. Ive warmed up big pans of chilli, cooked breakfast made tea and coffee and done everything i ever did in my lorry. Weve put in a leisure battery with a solar panel top up and got mobile charging points, lights and plug in for a travel fridge. Ive put a port potti loo in the horse area and got a gazebo which we put on the door side of the trailer . It tows well, although not as nimble as a standard Ifor, and the horses love it. I thought they may object to travelling backwards but no problems and they are happy to stand on trailer with side door open. It scrubs up well with some bio washing powder and the interior always wipes down. Its made it hard to find a lorry that has justified the extra £20k spend, so from a hasty purchase to tide us over for a few months - its still here!

great team at Equitrek

I recently bought a 2014 second hand Equitrek sonic excel - delivered to Ireland. The ease of ordering and collecting it was amazing. It arrived safely and on time.

The inside of the truck is like new - as though the entire thing had been upgraded.

The set up is excellent - there is a separate section for all of the gear and tack and then lots of space for two ponies. The extras are very helpful also - camera, LED lighting etc

I am very happy with this purchase - the team are excellent to work with.

Thanks all @ Equitrek

EQUI TREK SHOW TREKA M

EQUI TREK SHOW TREKA M
I purchased this trailer brand new in 2010. It has been fantastic. I only ever travel one 16.2hh horse and we have been out and about every year sometimes 4 times a month but mainly 3 times a month. I have it serviced annually. I have had no problems with it. It has to stand outside as I have no inside facility. I love the big front window, the seating and the gas cooker to have tea or heat up a meal I have brought with me. The tack locker 'table'in the horse area is marvellous to feed a bucket feed on to my boy. The partition, gates and ramp are easy for a lady to do on her own. It's cleaned out after every use and I 'air' it on fine days so it doesn't get a musty smell in the damp winters. Now I have a new, bigger horse I'm looking at the Equi Trek Equinox horsebox.

Very helpful Parts team - Super quick delivery!

Had to contact Equi-Trek to obtain some parts for our trailer. First touchpoint via email was a very helpful chap named Dave who helped answer my enquiries before I called through to order over the phone. Parts received next day in the post. Thanks again Dave!

Not a good company - aftersales dreadful

Not a good company - bad customer experience - a blame the client culture. Not very impressed with the quality and their attitude to people who have purchased from them. I bought one of the smaller trailers and didn't use it for two years because of ill health - it was minimally moved about so wasn't static and then used just after the two year warranty ran out.

I was furious when after use and out of warranty that a lot of the screws fell out around the top and bottom of the frame. Added to that I wasn't given a handbook at transfer which explained I needed warranty checks (3 months and at apparently 6 months - don't they trust their product????) which I would have had to pay for. The dealer said I would have been told about these at the time which I actually hadn't (and why should I have to remember that - I should have had a handbook - and an email or text message may have been helpful) - hence I missed them as I knew nothing about them - it is however irrelevant as the screws should not have fallen out at any time. I find in my blue plastic folder (following a conversation with my dealer), a blank Transfer Note that has not been signed by me. Apparently it wouldn't have been signed by me to say that I had received everything - I certainly wouldn't run a business like this - let's hope they have a signed copy and they should have given me one too - I'm awaiting it now.

I have now had to pay (half as I made a fuss) for screws to be put back in and now for rubber stops that have perished - this trailer is as new - a horse has been in it once. I am extremely unimpressed - if screws fall out it is not fit for purpose and neither should rubber perish so soon. Overall very unimpressed with something that cost over £6000.

The full story Never again will I buy anything from this company

The full story Equi-trek

Absolutely stunned by a conversation we had today with the CEO of this business.

At the beginning of April we went to buy a trailer from our local dealership. However as we needed to finance this we had to go direct and not through our local dealership. This meant paying £250 more and a £1000 deposit for the trailer to be built in a 5 week build time. So you can imagine our surprise when just days later we get a call telling us the trailer is ready to collect from our local dealership.

We then find out this is the exact same trailer we had seen days earlier, and told we couldnt have as they could only finance a brand new ordered to production trailer, that we had to pay an extra £250 for and a £1000 deposit.

So problem number one; we have just been lied too and paid £1000 deposit unnecessarily as this trailer was already built and did not need £1000 to get it into build.

Problem number 2; we are also now expected to pay an extra £250 for the exact same trailer. Clearly this was not acceptable so we refused to have this trailer and insisted on a new one from the production line; which we have paid for!

Problem number 3; we look unprofessional with our local dealership! As all horsey folk know this is not good for our reputation given we run an equestrian business.
After much conversation and explaining to our local dealership as too why we weren’t wanting there trailer (slightly embarrassing), we finally are told that our trailer is now in production and we will be kept updated.

Problem number 4; we get an email from our local dealership to inform us that our trailer is now ready to collect from equi trek’s main showroom in Sheffield (yes we agreed too collect from Sheffield instead of paying for delivery) so this is all great!

Due to our busy schedule and limits on who could legally tow the trailer home we had arranged a day (a Saturday) that between us we could collect the trailer considering we are a 2 hour journey away.
Having recieved messages from our local dealership that we have been dealing through as to when we would be able to collect the trailer from sheffield, we informed them on the 4th that it would be the weekend of the 15th and confirmed this on Monday the 10th (4 days before we wanted to collect to allow time for necessary arrangements) we never heard back with regards to this so assumed that all was ok!

On Friday the 14th out of pure good manners we called to check that we were ok to collect the trailer on Saturday the 15th. We were told; they don’t have any sales staff there to do the handover as all at a show. (interesting given that there was no comment on either there social media or website to explain that the showroom would not be open for sales that day or had we been informed!)

We then gave them 4 options!
Option 1; they made sure somebody was around to do the handover as we had heard nothing too the contrary.

Option 2; we would happily go to the show and collect the trailer.

Option 3; they delivered the trailer too us this week free of charge.

Option 4; we cancel the order and they refund all money including the deposit.

On returning a call, we are told the gentleman we have been dealing with has gone home and was asked what the problem was. On explaining, the chap on the end of the phone became very argumentative, didn’t see our problem and clearly had no respect too us as a customer. We therefore ask for the name of the CEO as felt it appropriate to inform him of the attitude of his front end staff.

Too our horror, he informed us he was the CEO!

This then progressed too what can only be described as a heated debate, getting absolutely no where. This resulted in him blaming the dealership, informing us that the problem was between us and the dealership, for us too resolve and nothing too do with him as CEO OF THE BUSINESS!!

He provided no resolve and told us that he could not speak to the dealership on our behalf and this was our problem. Funny given that the dealership is an approved equi trek dealer and he apparently couldn’t speak to them!

His only solution was too arrange for us to go and pick the trailer up at there convenience and our cost!

We really struggle too understand how this company is even in business!

By the way, we still don’t have our trailer or any idea of when we will!

We are now currently £1250 worst off as well as having too pay an additional £329 for the VAT on the deposit of £1000??? (What’s the current VAT rate?)

We personally recommend the nobody ever deals with this organisation! And sadly understand we are not alone.

Dreadful

Having hired a couple of Equi-Trek vehicles on several occasions we have been left with the overwhelming impression that this company neither knows, nor cares about the practicalities of transporting horses. Build quality is utterly appalling, attention-to-detail is non-existent, and quite frankly I'm surprised they're still in business!

The Atom we hired over a recent weekend is a case in point. This was a 2019 vehicle, with 200 miles on the clock and we were the first users. As usual, first impressions were that the loading area was flimsy and ill-thought-out. The over-cab storage is all but inaccessible unless you're 7' tall, or use a step, and is completely inaccessible with horses onboard anyway. Access to the load area vents is to all intents impossible with horses loaded (and there is no ceiling-mounted ventilation fan, so if you're stuck in traffic the horses are going to overheat due to the pathetically-inadequate vent sizes). The tack lockers have hinges straight from B&Q's bargain bucket and will buckle and come away from the vehicle body in a heartbeat as the rivets are pathetically-inadequate. Why they aren't designed to be accessible from the rear, and hinged from the top is anyone's guess. The rear access step is flimsy and will most likely buckle at some point (if it doesn't fall off first) The rear access is a trip hazard due to the high threshold lip, and the rear door has no latch to prevent it swinging closed. The side guards for the loading ramp intrude onto the ramp area itself, and are actually a hazard as you can easily trap a foot under them (not brilliant if you happen to be trying to leading a horse on, or off the ramp). The latch is positioned at the bottom of the side guard too, meaning that when a second horse is loaded your head is at risk of being hit by the guard if the horse moves sideways (don't worry too much though, you won't know much about it as you won't be able to see it coming) Cabin equipment is lousy too . . . . no sat-nav, no A/C, not even cupholders. Stowage in practically non-existent, and what there is is either inaccessible to the driver, or worse-than-useless anyway. Tie-back rings on the outside of the vehicle are provided, but the rearmost one means that the tack locker door will hit your horse, with the potential for injury and/or damage. CCTV is available, but a far simpler, cheaper, and more practical solution would be a horizontal window at the front of the loading bay, and a rear-view mirror in the cabin. There's glass at the back of the cab anyway, so why this wasn't done is anybody's guess. The ramp edge seals invariably come away from the ramp when latching it closed (and no locks exist, so locking the rear door is a pointless exercise as all anyone needs to do is lower the ramp to gain access to the loading area) The tack lockers are adequate given the available space, but more thought could be given to making them useful from inside the load area too. Simple guards around the top would prevent hay-nets from being pushed out of reach of the horses (which inevitably leads to them stretching over the bar to try to reach them) The furthermost tie-back ring is a nightmare to reach, and at some point someone IS going to end up injured as result)

Yes, this vehicle has the best load capacity of its class, but to be honest the overall design and execution leaves an awful lot to be desired, especially given the prices Equi-Trek charge. I'm afraid I wouldn't have one as a gift, and any further vehicles we hire (or indeed purchase) certainly won't be from this company unless things change dramatically.

equitrek trail trekka trailer…

I have an equitrek trail trekka trailer that I bought from new. The build quality is poor, rivets shaking loose around the front nose cone and the roof panel. This has resulted in the roof cracking where it began to lift off before I noticed that the rivets had just fallen out- obviously at roof height they were not easy to notice. Lots of screw covers have just dropped off too leaving dirty rust stains on the outside. Disappointing quality when you have paid a quality price. When I contacted customer service previously they weren't very helpful but now the roof has cracked I am trying again!

We bought an Equitrek Sonic in 2009 new…now 16,000 miles and 9.5 years later it is almost unusable except for short runs.

We bought an Equitrek Sonic in 2009 new from Ralph Bailey who were excelent, the box is great and a great designe.
I think if you were able to replace it every few years there would be no problems.
Our issue is the De lamenating of the panels because of poor workmanship in the fitting of the side windows and water ingress into the laminate of the panels.
The first issue was just the side door lifting/ supporting struts which would not hold the very heavy weight of the side door, a call to equitrek and a ££££ later they were sorted.
But no such luck with the call about the panel delamination which we sent several pictures to there service manager who said( sorry only 12m warranty) and at this point the box was well out of that 12m period.!!
A good friend of mine manafactures box body’s for Dog grooming and food delivery vehicles buy the way and offers 10 year body warranty. Not Equitrek as they obviously know about there build problems.

There was no offer of any help/good will to rectify there problems, now the vehicle at 16,000 miles and 2009 is almost useless !

Do Not Trust This Company

I entered into a year long rental contract with them for an Equi trek lorry. I was told it had breakdown cover. Sure enough, it breaks down, luckily for me at the yard. When I called the number given to me in the event of breakdown I was told the vehicle had no cover what so ever. After what I can only describe as a heated discussion with Equi they begrudgingly agreed to send out a breakdown firm. Needless to say I told them to take their lorry back. Taking umbridge at this they tried to charge me for the breakdown alleging it was my fault. The matter is now in the hands of the court and trading standards.... I also found out they had failed to tax the vehicle for part of the time I had it out on rental. Be careful with this unprofessional company.
