I had a terrible experience with Check 24 and Europcar when booking a rental car. I reserved a car with Europcar through Check 24 in Copenhagen for EUR 232.21 and paid a deposit of EUR 63.11. Despite clearly providing my Danish address when making the booking, I was informed upon arrival that Check 24 bookings are not valid for residents of Denmark at Europcar, something that was not mentioned during the booking process.
As a result, I was forced to make a new reservation on the spot, which came with worse conditions – a smaller car, no unlimited mileage, and an inflated price of EUR 375.83. On top of that, the deposit I had already paid was not taken into account.
The entire situation was frustrating, and their lack of transparency and poor customer service in addressing this issue leaves much to be desired. Despite multiple follow-ups, I’ve had no resolution for the additional costs I was forced to bear.

I had a few bookings with europcar, the majority went smoothly but one was a disaster. I had a booking through booking.com for 14 days for appr. 2,200kr . That was a really good offer. So when we arrived in Billlund and picked up the car, they charged me 4,900 kr. I didn't ask anything because I thought that is the deposit. Later I had to extend it with four days and it was around 3,700 kr. I accepted it, because I got a bigger car in Billund for the same price and for the additional 4 day I had to pay more, actually the original price (It's still strange the fact that 4 four day is much more than 14), anyway after that I asked them what was then the 4,900, is it the deposit? First they didn't know, and they said the deposit is 2500 kr and after a few email somebody said it was an authorisation. There was that premium insurance, I paid the price from the booking and again the premium insurance, what I think should be integrated in the main price, because There was just the deposit and the one way fee for additional costs on webpage. In the and they charged me the whole amount again and released the others. Most of the other, there was one with I had to wait, because the europcar said they finished the contract and the bank said they don't know, if the company doesn't want that fee until 1st of october I'll get the money back. It was chaotic, they charged many times and released and charged in the and again, like in game and it was hard to follow. I asked also the booking.com, they answered me with something different, with the daily km , I drove more or something like that, but If I made a calculation I was below the line. So I started with around 2,200 kr and ended with 6,222 kr summary and they kept the booking price also, so around 8,422 kr. I can accept that the initial price was low,and there is some additional price, but I can't accept that the final price will be 4 times bigger in the end.

Billing extra for a tiny superficial 3cm scratch. I left the car at the airport, nobody there to check the car with me. There were no scratches when I checked the car myself. I’ve never had any car rental bill me anything for the 15 years of renting cars regularly!! So I didn’t take any photos. Two days later they ask me to fill in a damage report and send me photos of a tiny scratch they found on the bonnet. Expecting me to declare this damage that I never had and applying excessif fees to earn more money!! No thanks, NO MORE EUROPCAR for me my friends and family!!!
In your last email you claim an excess of 5000DKK and 375 DKK for repairing a superficial 3 cm scratch, that's way to much. So far you've only written emails and sent a photo. I'm still waiting for the following documents (yes I had to list them to you):
1. A formal joint report, the form should be signed by you and include space for my signature as well
2. The estimate or the invoice of costs for repairing the 3 cm scratch on the bonnet
3. The expert report
As asked from my insurance.
It's incredible unprofessional to just send emails and a photo and claim an excess of more than 5000DKK.

charged $1200 for almost invisible scratches (some miscoloring of the paint rather). Three of them. One could somehow have happened at the supermarket, but three in different places could not have happened as I did not get into any accident or tight spaces (they were not the kind you get from vandalism). You cannot protect yourself because you cannot see them when getting the car. Even if somehow the scratches happened while I had the car, the fee is outrageous for something totally superficial. I doubt that they actually fixed it. Not surprised if they charge the next guy and the next. AVOID!

(Unfortunately, I only got a picture of front of car at delivery. I think I cannot upload it here, but I did email it to Europcar.)

Everything had gone smoothly - booking the car, picking up the car (although we did not get the class of car we requested), and dropping off the car (which due to an early flight was before the rental center opened). But then we got an unpleasant surprise. We were told there was damage to the car... a small scuff on the bumper, which I'm pretty sure was there when we picked up the car. We were charged about $420 for a new bumper. There was no possibility to appeal.
The initial inspection, which showed other damage on the car, was dated 5 days before the date we picked up the car. I am doubtful if they actually replaced the bumper. The next time I will take a detailed video of the car before leaving the lot.

You cheated us when picking up the car. the car ended up costing us an additional DKK 2,804. We have paid a total of DKK 6,400 for 15 days. We hope you enjoy cheating people.

Bottom line, this company creates false damage claims and because they are so hard to contest, they get away with murder.
I rented a car in Billund Denmark inside the airport terminal then had to walk a few hundred yards to find my car. During the checkout, they gave me a damage sheet with "ALL" the previously acknowledged damages. Now note that the car had 15,000 kilometers on the odometer so there were hundreds of tiny marks everywhere. Nobody was in the pick-up car area.
LUCKILY, AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BE STANDARD PRACTICE, I WALKED AROUND and videoed the car. Don't take this lightly, as they claimed I damaged their car (paint chip) underneath the front bumper. Yes, this is really true. So video up down, low, from the top, everywhere you can think of.
After returning the car, again with nobody there, they said I damaged the car in an email a few days later. Total BULLCRAP!!! I went to my video and luckily I found this small scratch prior to driving it off the lot. So I replied that I had evidence that the damage was prior to my rental.
Of course, I have not heard back after 5 days of sending my email and after they charged my credit card more than $500.
I probably won't hear back from this DISHONEST BRANCH because they were caught red handed in a lie and they are hoping I just go away which I won't without a refund, an apology, and some additional compensation. I would ask for the Service team to be disciplined and fired from their job but I am sure management approves of this fraudulent behavior.
Anyway, I am SURE I am not the only one getting scammed by this dishonest company. BEWARE of Europcar especially in BILLUND, DENMARK!

I advise not to rent a car from Europcar Denmark!
To begin with, we were happy with the service by Europcar when picking up the rental vehicle at Aarhus airport Denmark. The person on the desk was very friendly. She gave us a sheet which clearly showed damage to the driver’s side door and scratches to the rear bumper which we were asked to acknowledge and sign. She also asked us to take any photos if we found any more damage but the form appeared accurate.
We were staying in a house by the coast in Skagen where the car was parked on its own. It was used mainly to get us to and from Skagen where once we arrived we used bicycles for transport. Therefore the car was scarcely used in public places and no damage was caused to the car throughout the rental.
When we returned the car there were 3 people in the office and we told them that all was well, the car was great and there was no new damage, and asked if they would like to examine the car but they said there was no need and wished us a safe journey.
On returning home, they contacted me to inform me that they had dscovered damage to the car, to driver’s side door, scratches to the rear bumper and a superficial scratch across the whole bonnet. We were aware of the damage to the door and bumper, both of which were recorded on the sheet we had been asked to sign on collection, but not the surface of the bonnet. There was no damage to the bonnet when we returned the car.
We asked for a copy of the signed damage form we had signed on collection, and which we eventually received by email after 2 requests It does not appear to be the same as the original form I signed, as the damage to the rear bumper is not shown although the damage to the door is there, and was there on collection.
After looking through recent reviews this seems to be a regular issue with Europcar Denmark! Had we insisted for one of the staff at the drop off point to examine the car, this would not have happened. But as the car already had damage it seems very strange that we are now being accused of causing the damage that we were asked to acknowledge when collecting the car at the start of the rental (for which we did not ask for a copy /were not offered a copy ourselves).
Our view is that we are being asked to pay for damage caused by someone else. It is our word against theirs and they have our credit card details which they have charged with a huge amount despite our claim that we did not cause this damage.
My conclusion is that I will never rent a car from Europcar Denmark again, especially after seeing that this is not an isolated incidence. The risks are too high for an unsuspecting renter.
Interestingly we rented a car from Europcar Switzerland a week later and the experience was completely different. On returning the car it was examined and signed off and we had complete confidence that we were treated correctly.
It seems that these issues are commonplace with Europcar Denmark which is a great pity as we are part Danish in our family and so disappointed to have been taken advantage of on our Danish visit by Europcar Denmark. Let this be a warning to others!
Europcar Denmark has since been in touch with no offered solution. This is a fabricated claim.

Be Careful Renting from Europcar, Denmark
Initially, we were happy with the service by Europcar when picking up the rental vehicle at the airport (Billund) Denmark. The lady on the desk was working alone but very efficient. I would advise that you film your car on arrival unlike us as it was dark and couldn’t really see. The parking of the rental cars is a good 5 mins walk from the terminal, through the car park and out the back.
We have had family members charged in the past for damage to their vehicle and as such we were exceptionally careful where we parked the car.
Then when we returned the vehicle, we had to return it to the unmanned area of the airport, no person their to check the car back in, like when i’ve returned cars in Spain and Portugal. We left the car parked in what we thought was a safe environment and inspected the car on departure.
On returning home, they contacted me to inform me of damage to drivers side bumper, small chip of a stone or something smaller less than 5mm of damage, something we were unaware of. The car park is not tarmac all the way round and is covered with stones. The damage to the vehicle could have been caused; after we returned the car. I have asked for the photos they sent to be time stamped or dated which they have not sent yet! Or acknowledged, Other than an email detailing the cost. We took out extra insurance too! Which doesn’t seem to cover the cost of this.
After looking through lots of reviews it seems to be a common occurrence! Had there been someone at the drop off point, then this damage might have been discovered or even been proven not to be there!
So be careful when hiring from this company, as they could be trying it on, and there is no proof, so I’d recommend video an arrival and when returning the car!

Rented a car to drive from Copenhagen to Frankfurt. They charged me a one way fee of $672 USD (4.600 DKK). They wound up giving me a car that was less fuel efficient than what we reserved that had German registration, so clearly we were doing Euopcar a favor by bringing it back to Germany for them. They exploited us for $672, on top of providing us with a car that cost us more in fuel than what we had reserved. When I emailed them, they stood strongly by their actions. I will never rent from this agency again, and we like to go on vacation in Europe. This organization happily exploits its customers, which is a very shortsighted way to operate.

I was super pleased with my experience.
The car I was given was basically brand new, and this is not the first time I have been given a newer/upgraded car free of charge. I always receive great vehicles with Europcar. The staff was very friendly and serviceminded. The process when I arrived at the airport was quick. The deposit taken from my debit card was fair and I usually receive it back within 5 working days.
There were damages to the right tyres of the vehicle, but they made sure to inform me of that before i drove off. I will definitely be using Europcar and Europcar Billund Airport again.
Thanks guys!

Initially, I was happy with the service by Europcar when picking up my rental vehicle in Denmark, but then when the returning the vehicle, we had to return it to an unmanned are of the airport, in a field about 15 minute walk from the terminal, which was unexpected, and not ideal for older people who struggle to walk!! On returning home, they contacted me to inform me of damage to both front road wheels, something I was unaware of, as I was most careful with my driving. I have since read other reports, and it seems to be a common occurrence! Had there been someone at the drop off point, then this damage might have been discovered or even been proven not to be there! So be careful when hiring from this company, as they could be trying it on, and there is no proof, so you just have to roll with it!! Make sure you take out some Insurance to waiver the excess charge.

We rented a car ongoingly from Europcar Denmark (monthly subscription). We knew we were going to buy our own car within three months so we specifically told them when we picked up the car that we only needed it for three months (which they confirmed - again, there was no scenario where we would have renter it longer). When we dropped the car off to be within the period of three months, they told us we had committed to 7 months minimum and that we had to pay a penalty fee for returning it too early. I cannot stress enough that we specifically communicated when we rented it, that we only need it for three months, which they said was perfectly fine and that the moment we returned it, all would be well. So… not a happy camper with their services. Also, the car we got was of very poor quality.

I'm writing this to receive an official receipt or explanation for the repeated charges in my card.
In case I don't receive it, i'll have to take legal actions, as it's unnaceptable that such a well known company is still performing unauthorised card payments, after my rental is over.
There were 2 large payments performed after the rental, and I'm afraid that the company will remain charging as their wish, since there's no comunication being received.
How can you not send a receipt or any comunication, explainning what are you charging?

We arrived in Billund, having booked a small car because we don't need much space. The service woman was very friendly and asked if I can drive an automatic car too, which I confirmed. She then gave me the keys to a Nissan Qashqai and said "free upgrade" which really was nice, because the car was extremely comfortable including navigation, heated seats, cameras, sensors and so on.
Only thing to note is that they charged an "airport surcharge" after the booking which they later told me was already paid with the booking beforehand, so they refunded me instantly.
