Went to the used car department for my first car accompanied by my mum, we were greeted straight away by the staff and they were so helpful. Untruthful salesman
I bought a used Kia from the Evans Halshaw Ford East Kilbride branch. I was told by the salesman on the day that the car has a full service history, which was imperative in keeping the car's 7-year manufacturer warranty and it was the main reason for buying the car. But once I purchased the car, the service book was empty. There was no service history as initially claimed. And this salesman has since claimed in his email response that the records were conveniently 'lost'. He claims to be a family man and has a son, one of the many things he said during the sale to make himself seem more personable and trustworthy. How low does a salesman have to steep in order to close a deal?
I have since requested Evans Halshaw to offer their Premium Guarantee/warranty for the car for another 24 months as remediation, but I have received no response. I have also submitted a formal complaint via their website. Still, no response after more than 48 hours.
I am currently in the process of pursuing further action firstly via the motor ombudsman, and if necessary, pursue through legal routes through the Simple Procedure/Small Claims court process for false advertisement and for misleading the customer.
For those shopping for a car, avoid Evans Halshaw at all costs. Their employees are morally inept and as a company they adopt questionable sales tactics.
