For the love of God people please avoid this place like the plague. I bought a corsa 24 plate 22.5k on it.firstly on the day I went to collect the car a light had come on on the dash, collision warning light, a young chap said to Gary Brown"salesman " the car thinks its been in a crash! I was assured it'd just be a sensor and they'd get it booked into evans halshaw kilmarnock as thats vauxhall to get it sorted. I noticed the steering wheel didn't sit straight when driving and it had a pull to the left,I thought it was just the tracking and id get it sorted at kwikfit. I also noticed a chunk out of rear tyre drivers side and the plastic mudguard around same tyre was broken, noticed these a few days after getting car. Separately these things don't get the alarm bells ringing but when I took car to kwikfit they could NOT fix the tracking, the chap said there's something wrong with this car, add these things together and I began to think this cars had some kind of bump/bang before they sold it to me. I also complained about the clutch, initially I thought different car, different clutch and id get used to it but no, it was obvious to me the clutch was badly worn but I was continuously told thats how its meant to be.i was fobbed off. I now know the clutch in these cars is meant to be a wee bit high as I had to rent a car and it was a corsa but still the difference was night and day. It confirmed the clutch in my car was badly worn. This was confirmed by the engineer at evans halshaw kilmarnock but they couldn't change the clutch without permission from evans halshaw east kilbride who by this point were not getting back to me. Then the car broke down. Engine didn't stop but I pulled into my drive and the steam started pouring out from the bonnet, the container that holds the coolant was boiling like a kettle, evans halshaw kilmarnock booked it in for a week later and found nothing wrong?? It wasnt overheating like that for nothing. There was no leak and the cooling fan was working so figure that out?? It was at this point I decided to leave the car at evans halshaw kilmarnock and involve the finance company to try get my money back. The salesman Gary Brown had gone on holiday at this point and I was left to deal with his manager Graham Dowd, I spoke with him once and could tell he was not remotely interested in helping me.HE chose to stop getting back to me. Totally ignorant and this is a manager? All this whole situation needed was communication to address the problems with the car but no! Oh wait I forgot, when I was in the process of buying the car the salesman Gary Brown told me the car had 13 months manufacturer's warranty remaining and could he interest me in purchasing a further 2 yrs cover, I thought that was a good idea so yes I took it.a bit later when I finally got started doing the inside of the car with matts and seat covers etc I looked for the service book. There was none so I contacted Gary Brown. He said he'd find it for me. Turns out the car had NOT been serviced before I bought it and so it came with NO manufacturer's warranty. I've had a terrible experience I've been treated like a bit of crap. Theres only me and my sister, we're both carers so a car for us is not a luxury, its a necessity! I thought it was investing in a car that would allow us to do our jobs hassle free but now we're struggling with work too. We're not rich, we're not even well off, we get by! On top of both struggling with work my sister has alot of health issues, latest 1 is a shadow on her lung. Theres always hospital appointments which we now struggle with too as this situation continues, I've also a very ill dog who had a stroke some time back and lately has not been good so I'm paying taxis front ayr to maybole for vet but does anyone at Evans Halshaw care about the impact this CONTINUES TO HAVE On our lives? No! I reached out to help@evans halshaw.com for help, they answered quickly enough and thanked me for all information provided and someone would be in touch, that was 8th July, not a word! Please people, protect your money and stay away from Evans Halshaw Ford east kilbride.

Submitted complaint online 3 weeks ago following issues experienced while buying a used car from them. I was given wrong information on multiple issues which resulted in additional costs to me. Website says you’ll be contacted within 48hrs, I’m still waiting. Clearly not interested now they’ve got my money. Based on my experience I would not recommend Evans Halshaw East Kilbride.

Sold me a car and let me drive 168 miles in a car that could have had brake failure, told me to get it repaired and they would reimburse me £3072 and was basically told to do one, now taking legal action towards them in the hope i get my money back.

Bought 2 cars from here, nothing but trouble with them both. One needed a new engine and I ended up rejecting the car. Other one has been into the workshop several times and needs to go in AGAIN. Tricky when we are working full time. Each time car goes back the communication is practically non existent and we need to borrow a car to get to work. Shambles. Will never deal with them again.

Apart from their deception, factual omissions, indulging themselves in high commissions for their services,
I can't praise them enough as they are the best at what they do best.Ripping people off

Dear directors- get those P45s out
I went into this garage with the plan to buy a Ford Explorer… a cash sale and trade in… what a waste of time!
After viewing the showroom car, by a first class saleswoman. I was handed over Jason by the what I took to be the manager. His couldn’t be bothered attitude was a great start. I found a vehicle I wanted one year old and he wanted to view, photo and inspect my car..
he then spend the next ten minutes with the finance manager to say we need to send it off to head office for a price. Ok I said call me.
Not wanting to lose out on my purchase, I called next day - told still waiting.. then next day spoke to a manager to be told I will get Jason to call you or I will call back later - still waiting.
I called on the Friday, told the finance manager has access to the figures so don’t know - still waiting.
Called on Monday no one available will call you back…. Come on have a guess (still waiting).
Do you want to sell cars? AWD Explorers up to 60k. The answer is still waiting.
So, to sum up…. Hopeless, unreliable and if you have ordered are you still waiting?
Looking forward to hearing from a group director… as your branch needs a staff revamp! I’m waiting.

Worst experience ever. I bought a 2019 BMW 1 Series 33k miles from Evans Halshaw Ford East Kilbride on the 12th January and after 3 weeks of ownership (February 6th) the car alarm started going off randomly while driving and parked. The dealership has been no help and has had me running around trying to sort the issue myself. BMW have confirmed the cars coding had been manipulated to cover 96 faults (including safety faults) before I bought it. I have had no car for the last 3 months and Evans Halshaw have refused to give me a courtesy car multiple times. Meanwhile they have also refused to approve any work to fix the car (after they said they would approve it) leaving my car stuck at BMW. As a young university student who commutes I’ve been unable to attend a whole semester resulting in me filing mitigating circumstances due to extreme absence. This has also caused me to be unable to care for 2 of my disabled family members as I now have no way of transportation. The lack of support is genuinely unbelievable. I even tried to return the car (when purchasing it I was told I could do so at any time) in which Evans Halshaw had told the finance company I have “wrapped the car” and “not fixed the cracked windscreen” both being untrue. I had the windows tinted (which can be peeled off) and the windscreen was replaced due to the crack. I’ve never been more devastated and helpless.

This is for anyone considering purchasing a car from Evans Halshaw or who has bought a car but experiencing problems.
I bought my car - a Kia Sportage (2020 plate) on 1/3/25. Paid £16k. It had 28k on the clock - from EVANS HALSHAW EAST KILBRIDE.
Alarms bells were actually clanging in my head when I went to pay and the card machine was "playing up" so couldn't pay by credit card. I wish I had listened to those alarm bells. I had to do a bank transfer - BIG MISTAKE - please folks, always pay at least part on your credit card as it gives you extra protection.
The car had not even done 4k miles when it went BANG! on a busy dual carriageway in Dundee. Oil exploded everywhere. The con rod had snapped. I could have had my little grandson in the car with me.
Initially I contacted Kia - who couldn't be more obstructive - be warned - your warranty is not worth the paper it is printed on unless you track down all your receipts and invoices from previous owners etc etc... yep you read that right. But I did it anyway and found that the car had an engine re-build at 12k miles. New turbo at 26k miles. Wishbones etc etc. Previous owner handed it back. Parks Garage East Kilbride then sold it to EVANS HALSHAW. Who were made aware of its history but were happy to have it cheap to flip a few bob regardless of it being an absolutely dangerous piece of garbage. One that could have cost me my life...,
After getting some brilliant advice, I have now taken the decision to sue EVANS HALSHAW. They lead me to believe it had a full service history and was still covered by the remaining warranty from Kia - it wasn't and there service history was incomplete. It was "Used Approved" - it wasn't. Their card machine wasn't working so I couldn't pay by credit card. Interestingly, I have seen other people report similar experiences (see Piston Heads), and the speculation is generally that it stops customers getting the extra protection afforded by their credit card company.
The car is now back with them as rejected- if you don't believe me - it is probably under a layer of dust in the car park. It is red. Number plates are off (it is SORNED and my private plates removed).
I am more than willing to go to court I will "name and shame" - salesman Steve Ruthven. Gary Armstrong Managing Director who couldn't pass the buck on this quick enough. Head Office - none of them could find rocks big enough to hide under fast enough. It has now been handed over to Gabrielle Spence in Customer Services at Lithia. She got my email today confirming that I am going to court. I have had enough of paying out for tow trucks, (total £490), car hire £780, legal advice, plus bills for other maintenance on the Kia etc etc. I don't see why I should be out of pocket to this extent because they misrepresent their cars and put dangerous vehicles on the road.
Don't buy - tell your friends / family not to buy from ANY Evans Halshaw branch. Look at other reviews - look at Piston Heads - their reputations stinks.

Bought car within 2 days had to take to garage. They sold l own faulty car and lied about it ECU showed proof of them trying to clear codes. Lied about oil change and new filter as it was as black as coal not to mention them saying they didn't do work on car but on further investigation showed they had. Awful sellers

Would give negative if possible. Bought a car in March 2025 and the car broke in October 2025, as the car was, barely, outside the 6 months of purchase they refused to do anything to help us, we took out an extended warry and was again told they wouldn't do anything due to the fault. I believe the car was sold to us with a fault but was told to 'prove it' The staff have all been so unhelpful throughout, I will forever tell everyone to avoid this dealership

I had been looking for a car for a few weeks and never found anything that I really liked and could drive.
I met Gary at Evans Halshaw EK and he immediately found a car that was suitable for me to drive. I was really impressed with his patience and knowledge and with no pressure from him I found my ideal car.
I really appreciate all his hard work on my behalf and glad I decided to try Evans Halshaw and I would recommend Gary to anyone.
