Excellent service from the moment we stepped onto the forecourt looking for a car. Tony was very professional and thorough answering all my pre sale questions making the experience enjoyable and stress free. Taking care of all the paperwork from the sale to registering and taxing the vehicle. Highly recommending Evans Halshaw Kirkintilloch to my partner and niece who are looking to trade in their vehicles shortly.

Can’t compliment Tony at Evans Halshaw Kirkintilloch enough - he was extremely helpful throughout, nothing was a problem and was very polite and courteous from the moment I walked in to the moment I drove my MINI away. Will 100% be returning when it’s time for my next car!

Initial meeting got off to a bad start, Tony thought the car had a completely different engine (which would not have suited), a rattle was explained as the metal number plate when the boor was closed (turned out to be the underside exhaust shield which was sitting loose on top of the exhaust. He also advised tax was £20, on picking car up I discovered I had to pay £200 to tax.
Agreed to purchase and then was forced to sit through a 20-minute talk on finance, extras etc, even when I said at the start it was a cash and trade in deal and I did not want any warranty or finance I still had to endure it as he said he "had to cover it off". I eventually agreed to the fabric and paint protection as was assured the stains on the driver seat would be removed and any small swirls and light scratches would be buffed out and he discounted the price. Long story short, the car was in and out for issues and had a new clutch (Dustin is hell bent on pushing their extended warranties and now I know why, he came over during the initial sale, mentioned it on 2 subsequent calls and then again face to face!!!), flywheel and slave cylinder fitted, sloppy handbrake sorted and dash light investigated. Picked car up and within 20 miles light was back on and car was not registering the fuel put in. back to EH, this time they need to book it into a specialist as they could not diagnose, they sent it to Arnold Clark!!, waited 2 weeks to get it booked in, handed back after 2 days but nothing sorted AC said they did not see a light and simply road tested and returned. Back to EH and then to AC, this time they did see the fault, ran the code and I got the shock that the car was beyond economical repair, refunded me but I was left high and dry till I found a new car (they did let me keep the courtesy car for a couple of days longer). The paint/fabric protection was a waste of money, stains, and scratches still evident. They did not even attempt a repair after the clutch/flywheel were fitted and the engine light was on even though the problem was relatively common on many make of car, instead it had to be booked elsewhere.
Tony was heavy pressure and is clearly targeted on selling every extra going, he came across as the “typical” pushy car salespeople (even slagging off other dealerships). His communication was poor. Dustin (Sales Manager) and Tony simply washed their hands and fobbed me off to the service department.
Kieron (quite new) was good to deal with as he had to pick up Tonys issues when he was off and the Head of Business (Gordon) were decent people to deal with along with Ainslie in the service team, other than that you get the impression that once they have your money they do not want to know.
Full refund and bought a new car elsewhere, even though I have a more local EH dealership I lost confidence in them.

Vehicle booked in with no lengthy delays for a slot. Service completed within timescales advised (actually had it done ahead of shedule which was great as it was a commercial vehicle) Fair price and no pushy add ons to the job. All in very satisfied.

I knew what exact car I was looking for and unfortunately the only one I could find was at Evans Halshaw. I reserved the car online, got sent a video walkround to point out any issues, signed paperwork online and paid for car. It was meant to be delivered but when I didn’t hear anything over next couple of days I phoned to check to make sure it would be delivered on agreed date and time but was told it unfortunately wouldn’t be and he would contact me know the next day to advise. This didn’t work for me as I would be back at work by then so I asked for refund of delivery fee and made the 2hr trip to collect. At the garage, the salesman was arrogant and had an awful attitude. He needs to work on customer service skills, understand paperwork and the implications of asking someone to re-sign something they have already signed showing they owe a balance that has already been paid. Telling me if I don’t sign the paperwork and I don’t get the car even though everything was already signed online. The paintwork touchups that he insisted had been done ‘must’ve been wiped off’ or so he said. There was a dent in a wheel and gouge out of the tyre that wasn’t shown on the video (only a small scuff) and when we asked for MOT tester to confirm this was ok to drive he was very defensive and insisted it had been MOT and was fine. We just wanted reassurance it was safe to drive as this looked like it had been done recently. Eventually he did take it to be checked. The car stunk of smoke which they had tried to cover with air freshener (unfortunately I didn’t noticed this until I drove away) will therefore have to arrange our own professional valet and hope that helps.
Luckily the sales manager stepped in and did the rest of the handover with us as I was ready to walk away and get a refund. He also arrange the refund of the delivery fee and sent me details or warranty which the salesman hadn’t bothered to do. I’ve worked in the car sales industry and also purchased several cars but never had to deal with a salesman with such a poor attitude. I could go on about other comments that were made but it’s not worth my time as leaving this review won’t make a difference anyway. Looking at other reviews I obviously was unlucky with the salesman I dealt with. Had it been another my experience might have been different. Maybe this guy was new although he did insist on telling me several times he’s been doing the job for 25yrs. I hope no one else experiences the same treatment I did and I hope he didn’t get his commission.
