I purchased a car from them in July 2024 and what followed has been months of stress, financial loss, and complete disrespect from multiple staff members. I am now writing this review after recovering to warn people from them.
At first, everything was great — helpful, polite salespeople (of course, they were getting my money). I used almost all of my savings to buy the car. Less than 2 months later, in September, the engine warning light came on due to faulty spark plugs. I was told they couldn’t look at it for four weeks and to “just drive it — it should be fine.” This, despite a clear warning on the dash. No concern at all for safety. I had to pay out of pocket to an independent garage to get it fixed right away.
Then in November, I broke down completely with a major oil pressure fault. The car had only done 1k miles since purchase and became undrivable. When I called Evans Halshaw, I was told I was “a week out of warranty” and there was “nothing they could do.” This was after already having an issue under warranty!
After getting legal advice from Citizens Advice, I contacted them again and pushed to speak to a manager. Eventually, Andrew Smith (Aftersales Leader) returned my call and asked, “So what are you expecting me to do when it’s not our fault?” — completely patronising and dismissive. I was made to feel like I had done something wrong.
I had to pay to tow the car to them myself. It turned out the problem was a timing chain fault — something that clearly should have been spotted before selling the vehicle. They "fixed" it, but I had to cover my own transport costs, and even the hire car during the wait.
Then in January 2025, the same engine fault reappeared. I contacted Andrew directly — his response? “So you’ve just stopped driving it as a precaution?” Yes, because I value my life Andrew. His attitude was rude, arrogant, and completely lacking in basic respect. I was left in tears.
My partner contacted the CEO (Gary) — no reply — but within 24 hours we were finally contacted by the Head of Business (Ben). We were offered:
• Another repair (absolutely not),
• A full refund if we bought another car from them (no thank you),
• Or a partial refund (our only real option).
We accepted the partial refund but lost a significant amount of money — plus all recovery fees, garage bills, and transport costs from being without a car for weeks. The entire process has taken a huge toll on both my mental health and finances.
Staff consistently:
• Avoid calls and messages
• Promise call-backs that never happen
• Hide when you visit in person
• Speak to you like dirt
They are happy to take your money, then leave you to suffer with a dangerous car and no support, disgusting for a big "reputable" company.
To top it off, I recently received a recall notice for faulty airbags on the same vehicle — months after returning it. I only hope whoever they fobbed it off to is safe.
Evans Halshaw Walsall has shown zero accountability, zero professionalism, and zero customer care. Please don’t make the mistake I did. Buy your car elsewhere.

Well received on arrival by Service Receptionist Steve who kept me informed of progress throughout the day. Telling me of any issues that arose and outlining the options in a clear and concise manner.
As usual, the service to the vehicle was excellent.

This company will improve if they are honest with the customer! The amount of times I have called and no one picks up and when they do I am not getting any answers to what’s happening with my vehicle. It’s been in fir repair over a week and still no answers with what is wrong with it. I was meant to get a courtesy car while mine was being repaired and wasn’t given one.
I am left without a car which I need for my line of work, what more frustrating is that every time I talk to someone at ford they have no idea what’s happening with my car or when I will get it back.
I am shocked and very upset with the service. It’s not like me to write a review but this has really stressed me out.

Excellent from start to finish, they went above and beyond to get my vehicle back on the road.

I took my car for a service at Evan’s halshaw Walsall, they found loads of jobs that needed doing, which cost me a fortune. One of the jobs they said needs doing was an oil leak, so I paid for the diagnostic and they said they’d found the leak, I then paid for them to fix it.
I got my car back, the screen wash hadn’t been filled and the coolant was below the min line, which rang alarm bells as I’d paid for a full service.
I took my car to an independent garage for the MOT, as I’d lost trust in Evan’s Halshaw. The garage said my car has an oil leak!
I’ve contacted Evan’s halshaw, they told me that they couldn’t look at my car for another two weeks! I would have taken it back to the independent garage but I’ve already paid Evan’s halshaw to fix the oil leak.
I’m really disappointed with the service that I’ve received. I used Evan’s halshaw as I wanted to make sure my car was safe for myself and my family.

I took my EV in to get my cherished number plate changed as my plate did not have a green EV stripe on it.
I specifically asked for the old plates being taken off to be put in the boot of my car as they hold great sentimental value to me. The cherished plate was bought by my wife for our 10th wedding anniversary and were fitted onto the 1st brand new car that I have owned.
I was assured that the plates would be put in my vehicle, but instead they were cut up and put in the bin.
To say I am disappointed by this is an understatement especially after specifically asking to take the old plates with me and being assured that they were put in the car, sad times indeed.

Bought a car from the team and within 11 day it had already failed twice. I gave them chance to repair it once and the car failed again within a day with another issue so as I was within my 14 days with and 30 days under consumer rights I requested to reject the vehicle. I tried to look at buying another car and nothing took my fancy and the current car was leaving me out of pocket to be sat in their car park. Communication was shocking and head office just bat it back to the retailer to deal with so no use there either. You get told one thing and find out what you've been told isn't even in the truth, after weeks of back and forth I ended up going down in person to resolve it and have been left with no car, no courtesy car as I understand they need to be returned and no eta of a refund. Pretty disappointed. They need to work on their Communication and reasoning skills and they'd be a good dealer in my opinion

🚩 1 Star – Absolutely Disgraceful Experience! Avoid This Dealership! 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩
Evans Halshaw Walsall has been nothing short of a nightmare. 🚩They completely misrepresented the condition of the car I purchased, leaving me with an unsafe, faulty vehicle and no support when I needed it most. 🚩
I purchased a car from Evans Halshaw Walsall on 23rd November 2024, under the assumption that it had passed a 123-point mechanical and quality check, as they assured me. However, within 2 days, I discovered severe, undisclosed issues, including:
🚨 A dangerously faulty passenger seatbelt – The police stopped me in January 2025, and told me the seatbelt was illegal and not MOT-compliant, and that I had to fix it immediately.
🚨 Worn-out front brake pads – I was LIED TO by KIERAN NOOR that these had been replaced and it was a coding error on my BMW system, but my MOT failed, showing that both brake pads were dangerously worn, posing a significant safety risk.
🚨 Multiple other defects – These included broken glovebox, damaged speakers, insecure wing mirrors, misting headlights, a damaged driver’s seat, worn out wipers, and a dirty, unclean interior that had clearly not been valeted as promised.
2 keys were advertised and only 1 was given and was told by graham Lowe that this was a 'value car' so nothing can be done for a 2nd key. make it make sense...123 point inspection where?
I reported these issues within the first 5 days of ownership, expecting Evans Halshaw to take responsibility and resolve the situation. Instead, they arranged for repairs 1 month later given that I'd receive a courtesy car delivered to my door and closer to the date no courtesy car was provided and I had to reschedule the repairs. Michael stamp claimed they tried to contact me but I am still waiting for an email response for repairs from Kieran Noor since 24th January 2025.
I was misled into buying a car in terrible condition, and even after presenting the dealership with clear evidence of the issues, they did not prioritise to fix them or offer much assistance considering the car was in a dangerous condition. I was also told that the car had passed an extensive inspection, but it clearly had not.
To make matters worse, when I attempted to get the car’s issues fixed, I was left without support, and the dealership failed to prioritise my repairs. I was forced to obtain an MOT which failed and my insurance is now void, and the car is unroadworthy, all because Evans Halshaw sold me a car with serious, undisclosed faults.
This has been an absolutely frustrating, stressful experience that should never have happened. Evans Halshaw Walsall is completely irresponsible, and they clearly don’t care about customer satisfaction or safety. I am now having to escalate this case to the Financial Ombudsman and Trading Standards to try and get any resolution.
I just found out on the 10th march from the BMW app that the battery in the car is near to failure and won't be able to start the car in extreme temperatures or with heavy loads and it needs to be replaced immediately. the problems just keep flooding in...
I am yet to hear a response from Michael Stamp who seems to be avoiding my emails which I have been sending since 6th march. I want my money back and this car gone ASAP!!
I strongly advise anyone to stay far away from Evans Halshaw Walsall. They are unprofessional, dishonest, and downright dangerous to work with. hopefully this review will get them to respond to me

Was interested in one of their vehicles so I made an enquiry. I was emailed by them asking how they could help me so I replied with a few questions. Never heard back so I have bought elsewhere now
