WARNING – READ THIS BEFORE BUYING
I bought this car in late October and have had nothing but problems since day one.
• The brakes squeal even when driving in a straight line.
• Turning corners? Genuinely dangerous. The ESC fault light is on, and it randomly slams the brakes with live traffic behind me.
• The rear seat doesn’t fold down to access the sixth and seventh seats—despite three attempts to fix it. It’s now in pieces, with loose screws sitting in the front of the car.
• They disabled the airbags and told me I was fine to drive it like that—for nearly a month.
• A red steering warning light is constantly on. I was told the steering is broken and advised not to drive on winding roads, motorways, or long journeys.
• I was even told not to put my kids in the car—which defeats the entire point of buying a 7-seater.
Let’s add to that:
• ESC fault
• Start/stop fault
• Rear traffic alert failure
• Blind spot monitor failure
• Front assist and lane assist faults
• It sometimes doesn’t register fuel unless I put in more than £50.
It’s now been over 5 months, and they still expect me to wait even longer for it to be fixed.
This has been a total nightmare. Avoid at all costs.

I part exchenged my 2020 Mercedes CLA220d with them for a 2024 Audi Q4 on 17/03/25. I eventually became the registered keeper of said Audi on 25/04/25 when I finally received the V5C.
As a result of my experience with them I would recommend the following:
1. When they assess your vehicle for a p/x quote, check any issues they say will reduce their offer, like damaged areas. Apparently mine had damage to the rear but I was unable to find any and didn't ask them to show me.
2. Get their valuation in writing as I didn't and when I went purchase the Q4, my valuation had dropped by about £300 due to 'a mistake'.
3. Before the purchase process starts (with the transfer of your vehicle ownership to them via your V5C) check the presence of a V5C for the vehicle you are buying. I didn't and the Q4 didn't have one as it was a 'disability vehicle' which I had not previously been told although there were no apparent modifications. Being a disability vehicle, the previous owner/driver didn't have the V5C as it is held by the Motability Scheme. As the previous owner was apparently an Evans Halshaw manager he must have been able to circumvent their sales procedure which requires the V5C. The procedure for obtaining road tax without a V5C was known to them so I assume this is not an infrequent occurence! It took 28 days before I got the V5C during which time I could not obtain a local resident pass to use the Runcorn Widnes Bridge so had to pay.
Whilst the sales person I dealt with (Kas) tried his best to placate me and succeeded in getting the Q4 taxed before the 01/04/25 increase from £0 to £615. What I found disgraceful was that had there been a £25 charge to re-register the vehicle, I would have to pay it and Evans Halshaw would (eventually) re-imburse me.
4, Check that the User Manual is available, as mine was for the Mercedes. I didn't check and it wasn't! I was told the User Manual was available online, not much use if you don't have a phone signal or even a phone! They got me one off e-bay where I noticed there is a quite lucrative market for used User manuals.....
As I complained to them about their customer service, lack of V5C and User manual and bridge tolls, they gave me a free GuardX treatment which frankly didn't make much difference but I got a free 'handbag'of cleaning stuff.

Update- 4 hours after speaking to Dan and requesting a call back from Matt I have had to call back and is unavailable. You couldn’t write it😂😂😂
I don’t usually leave reviews, but I feel compelled to warn others after experiencing the worst service of my life at Evans Halshaw.
I was promised repeatedly that my car would be fixed and ready since Tuesday. Every day I was given excuses — missed parts cut-offs, shifting timelines, and empty assurances. I was told I’d be kept updated by the service manager, Matt, who then left work on Friday without informing me of anything, leaving me completely stranded.
Because I wasn’t told the car wouldn’t be ready, I had to cancel important meetings, miss a family trip to Wales, and rely on trains and Ubers just to get around — a huge inconvenience and expense.
To make things even worse, the fault has now come back, meaning after all that waiting, stresso, the issue hasn’t even been fixed.
This experience has been nothing short of disgraceful. If you value your time, money, and sanity — avoid this place.

Took my car in for a service 22nd jan still waiting for it back. Been given so many excuses as to why I'm getting really upset now and frustrating. Been given a courtesy car not fit for my use. Which was only given to me because I was starting a new job. I just want my fiesta back.

Recently went to Evans to get an MOT on my car which I purchased last year from Evans Halshaw Warrington.
Matt the service manager could not be more helpful, unfortunately one of the tyre pressure sensors had failed on my car so it would fail thhe mot due to the warning light on my dash, Matt explained this to me and assured me it would be a cheap and easy fix for them, and that I wouldn't have to take it to the Volvo main dealers to get this sorted, car now has a fresh MOT and would like to thank Evans Halshaw and especially Matt the service manager for making this a quick and easy job turn around.

Well where do I start.
This is an honest and accurate review
I can’t believe this is happening to me to be honest but ok this is what happened
Car number 1 was purchased in January 2024 from Evan’s halshaw Warrington it’s wass a Vauxhall Astra diesal.
When I received the car it was leaking exhaust fumes inside the vehicle from a dpf filter that must have been fitted and aligned incorrectly , even though the car had a fresh mot and the dpf filter check was part of the mot so they obviously didn’t do it .
Long story short it took 6 months for them to take the car back they only did so because I like today left a honest review online mentioning their manager s name Gavin as being the culprit that simply refused to take the car back I also got the ombudsman involved
Even though I had the evidence ( a full diagnostic report stating the fault) and the fact that me and my young family could have DIED through carbon monoxide poisoning.
At first Gavin tried telling me that the car had now depreciated and he was unable to refund my £2000 pounds deposit and it would now work out a lot less and I could use that as a deposit onto a new car.
At this point I was so desperate to get the issue resolved that I agreed.
It was only when a guy from my finance company had him on the phone for 2 hours explaining the law to him that I had a full unwind and my money back after 6 months of of stress, nearly losing my job because of no transport and it actually made me feel quite ill in the end .
Anyway the issue was being rectified and I was relieved .
Instead of refunding me directly gavin suggested the deposit went on a new car with these guys to be honest I just wanted a car and end to the matter so against my better judgment I agreed .and also he asked can I do him a small favour and remove the review witch I did
Car number 2 a Vauxhall Astra and diesel
After 6 weeks a engine management light appeared so after the last experience with Evan’s halshaw Warrington I made sure i let everyone know ( finance company and Evan’s halshaw Warrington in writing (emails) as I know I needed to cover myself because these guys would definitely try it on .
It was booked into Evan’s halshaw cardiff and they did a full diagnostic report which stated an adblue system fault.
They said that they had turned the engine management light off and road tested it and it seemed ok but if the fault reoccurred then they would have to replace the adblue tank and injectors.
Ok I took the car and 2 weeks later the fault reappeared I then had to wait another 3 weeks to book it back into Evan’s halshaw Cardiff who confirmed it was adblue system fault again
When it went in I was phoned in the afternoon to be told by Evan’s halshaw Cardiff that Warrington had refused to pay for the repair and it would cost me £4000 I obviously refused to pay and was told to pick the car up unrepaired .
Which I did and it went into limp mode on the way home . It is now undriveable and outside my house
I phoned Gavin and asked him to sort this out as consumer law states that within 6 months the dealer is responsible for the fault and as it was a failed repair they are still responsible.and this fault was identified within 2 months of purchase
I did speak with him and he said he would look into and phone me back but he didn’t he emailed me and said he’s not paying
I’m quite shocked Gavin someone on your position fails to understand the law.
So iv now passed it on to my finance company who are fully supportive by the way and have confirmed that I have the evidence and the law on my side as you are fully aware.
I am now in limbo paying for a car I can’t use while my finance company waits for response of this man
I know this will get sorted in the end because we live in a country with laws against this behaviour
PLEASE BEWARE because honestly if your car breaks they will try anything to get out of paying for it.
They will also try to sell you an extra warranty that they can change the terms and conditions of at will .
They used this as an excuse because I refused to purchase it .
Anthony

After a comprehensive review of the car I intended to buy by April at Warrington, James followed up my enquiry & subsequent secured a sale.
From intro to completion, April & James were a pleasure to work with. They were honest and true to their word.
Both assets to Evans Halshaw.

Outstanding, never been so relaxed when getting a new car! From start to finish it’s been such a smooth process. Dan, was honestly so easy to speak to and offered outstanding customer service! Buying a car can be stressful, however Dan has made this such a positive experience! Great guy and would highly recommend this place! 1st class start to finish.

Started well. Reserved a car I liked and got a call first thing about it, booked me to go in the same day at the time I chose. Welcoming when I got there. Test drive the car then went to speak about the finance. I told them how much I had been offered for my part exchange and also told him I had been offered 9% apr on basically the same car but a different colour so with that, that was my budget. Was offered from them £600 less on my part ex and wouldn’t budge this. Even Arnold Clark offered more and Carsa who I did go with in the end. Also lowest APR they went in with was 13%. Took 2 days to tell me the overall price and it was no where near as good as the deal with Carsa. They are arrogant and are not bothered about losing a sale. I also had to chase my £99 holding fee as the person I dealt with had to get authorisation to refund it. The 2 stars are for the friendly sales man but other then that I have had better experiences and the other 2 dealerships I’ve dealt with.
I’d give zero stars is possible!
AVOID this place at all costs. You may as well drive down the motorway, open the window and throw your money out. What me and my partner are experiencing with place is nothing but horrendous! Purchase nearly 5 year old vehicle in Jan 2024. After a month noticed rust on seals of driver and back passenger doors. My panel beater brother said it had been in a crash. Doors not respirated or sealed correctly. My partner contacted them 12 times via phone/email each time being fobbed off, so we went to finance company. It took the finance company from Feb to May to send an assessor. Report findings confirmed what my brother had said along with a turbo in its way out along with head gasket. He REFUSED to test drive it. Garage refused to tow it in to repair so finance company agreed to do so, but three weeks on it wasn’t happening. We called AA who agreed to tow to garage where it has been as of today (28th June) for two and a half weeks. Ringing Matthew the Service Manager who will not return calls all this week. We have earlier been told a part is in back order with Citroen and been told the sprayer is coming in one day then oh he’s not turned in to just being giving the absolute run around is an absolute joke for a car we have been told we still have to pay monthly payments on. The car has been condemned not to drive for over a month and it’s costing me £150 a WEEK to get to and from work which is not much short of my salary. Yet, these cowboys and fraudsters DO NOT care. Please, please do not go near this place. I wouldn’t wish anyone else to suffer what we are.
I recently purchased a 2019 Audi A6 from Evans Halshaw Warrington (previously known as CarStore) in May 2024. I was informed that the V5C (vehicle registration document) was not available but was assured that obtaining a new one with my name on it through a V62 form at the Post Office was a standard procedure.
However, my experience has been anything but standard. The Post Office staff rejected my V62 application multiple times due to incorrect postcodes provided by Evans Halshaw. Despite making five trips and using five different postcodes, I was unable to get the application accepted. Eventually, I had to contact the DVLA directly, who advised me to send the V62 form along with a SORN request, as the vehicle cannot be taxed until a new V5C is issued.
The DVLA informed me that processing the application would take approximately two weeks, leaving me unable to drive my new car for at least 2-3 weeks. Throughout this ordeal, Evans Halshaw has repeatedly promised to escalate the issue to their management team, but no tangible action or compensation has been offered. I am left without a means of commuting to work, which is 25 miles from my home, and there is no available public transport.
This entire situation arose due to the negligence of Evans Halshaw's staff, and their lack of support has been deeply disappointing. I strongly advise potential customers to be cautious and consider their options before dealing with Evans Halshaw Warrington.
My advisor and Sales agent Daniel Jones did great job thanks so much

From beginning to end or warranty i have had the unprofessional service. I can't believe i missed all the red flags. Very unprofessional. There aftersales are terrible after 2 days of purchase i had three issue's with my car to be booked in for repair I have sent several emails + several phone calls keep getting told they will call me back later which never happend. I would not recommend CarShop to anyone. My experience was one of the worse I had in my life... I'm glad I didn't get the after care as I never got the warranty care as it expired. I felt as they were forcing me to get the 2 years after care.
I bought a Mitsubishi outlander in November. The MOT was until January and the manager told me to do it at a service closer to home and that they would pay for it, when i did the MOT closer to home and contacted them they didn't want to give the money back. I don't recommend this place.
PS. They didn't tell me the radio doesn't work either.
Bad experience. Bought a car from this store back in July 2023, no issues the sales guy Kas he was nice. Drove away with the car and next day tried to use the aircon and it didn’t work, it was currently 30degrees and I had a newborn baby. I contacted and organised to bring the car in few days later, within that few days I had a problem with my clutch and it got stuck down to the floor whilst i was driving across a roundabout with my baby in the car. So when I took the car i told them about the clutch issue as well as the aircon. They said it was probably the clutch master cylinder and that the aircon gas was low and they needed to check for any leaks Ect. The service manager said he would give me a call in 5 days to book me in for them both to be done the following me.
It took 14 WEEKS of getting passed pillar to post, repeating the situation to numerous staff, I could barely use my car because it was too hot for the baby and being worried the clutch would get stuck again.
14 weeks later I take it for the appointment to be told it would just be the clutch they were doing and the aircon guy was on holiday and that they’d sort that the week after, I laughed and said it’s winter soon I won’t even need it. Nearly a year has passed I still don’t have my aircon fixed and the heat is back, I contacted last week and shock still no contact from them.
Shocking that I was expressing to them that I was scared to drive my car because of the clutch and the heat and it took them 14 week todo anything, and nearly a year later one of the issues not being resolved and still getting ignored 👍
Went to Warrington Car Store to trade in my car. After finding the vehicle I wanted to test drive, the staff were unable to locate the keys and took my details and said they would ring me when they found the keys. It has now been several days following that conversation without any contact from them. I just feel that I wasted my time visiting Car Store in Warrington and I will take my custom elsewhere.
Great experience and kept their word
We bought a Kia at the end of February. The sales team were friendly but not pushy, offering drinks and time to think once we'd had a look at our chosen cars.
We had an issue that needed to be resolved with the car we chose, but it didn't need to be fixed immediately. Gavin promised us it would be done.
The car was delivered the following day by James F and all was good. It took a little bit of time to organise the timings of the repair we needed but Gavin and James have been good to their word and the repair is now complete. So we can report excellent service, a friendly team without pushy sales pitches. Yes, there were some standard sales information, but it was minimal. Happy customers.
