Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 237 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Customers frequently reported poor facility conditions, including broken or poorly maintained equipment with slow repair times. Many also noted significant cleanliness issues, such as dirty changing rooms, mould in showers, and unhygienic conditions. Essential amenities like air conditioning, saunas, and steam rooms were often out of order for extended periods. Reviewers felt the high price did not justify the poor service and facilities, citing unexpected subscription increases and unwanted contract issues. While some people found staff unhelpful or unprofessional, many others praised specific instructors and found staff members friendly and supportive.

Gillingham (ex Roko) in serious need of refurbishment. Often dirty, broken lockers, broken machines, broken spa facilities. A lot of the equipment , mats etc past their sell by date. And Everlast call this a premium gym? It isn’t.

I am very disappointed with Everlast…

I am very disappointed with Everlast Gym. It’s clear they don’t care about their existing customers, only about income. They closed the gym to film something and didn’t even bother to send an email or inform members in advance. This shows a complete lack of respect and consideration for the people who pay monthly memberships.

Halifax Branch Needs Serious Improvement

The equipment at this gym is very outdated and limited, especially when compared to a proper Everlast gym. At other branches, the machines are modern, well-maintained, and there’s a good variety, but Halifax feels neglected in comparison.

On top of that, the steam room has been out of order for months, and it’s quite disappointing (and embarrassing) that management hasn’t addressed it.Other than, we are waiting for a quote…

For the price they charge, you’d expect better facilities and being similar to what an actual Everlast gym should be like. Honestly, if Halifax had another gym with a swimming pool, I’d switch immediately.

Signed up because it had a steam room

Signed up because it had a steam room. Its been shut now for over 2 months, when asked staff when it will be fixed they seem totally disinterested. Its a shame because otherwise its a good gym with a pool and decent facilities.

Cancelled classes

Be careful of joining up based on the classes. Lots of people joined up purely for the pool and Aqua classes. Few weeks later the classes have been reduced. The gym don't care and neither do the complaints department.

Avoid working here at all costs!!!

Avoid working here at all costs!!!

I got hired here and on my first day I wasn’t given an induction, I was told to get on with my work without being told anything about it or shown what it was I was actually supposed to be doing didn’t even know where I put my things, I wasn’t given no logins or work email, I was meant to of started on the 1st September and the day before I had to ring as no one bothered to get in contact with me, I didn’t know my rota, they also put me on my first shift with a male who wasn’t able to show me the women’s section so they are very backwards in regards to this, I wasn’t given break times, what time the pool shuts nothing! and the manger was highly unprofessional and arrogant. I’ve then tried to ring three times to let them know I will not be going back and I got ignored, I also sent an email explaining and that also got ignored.
If you’re planning on applying for any cleaning role I really wouldn’t bother wasting your time with this place, it’s clear why everyone is leaving so quickly.

Poor gym facillity

I have been a member of Everlast in Leigh since they took over from DW. Since taking over the gym at Leigh it has unfortunately gone badly downhill. The major problem is lack of air-conditioning which has not worked for months, and they cannot give a date for a repair to take place, in fact the management have actually lied about the repair date.
In addition to this the facility used to have two Jacuzzis which are no longer available.
The steam room is filthy along with much of the changing room and showers.
Previously there has been a good selection of classes which have recently been removed along with a very popular PT .
Machines in the gym area are constantly breaking down and can take months to repair .
Complaints are ignored or bounced between head office and local management; the outcome however is generally no action.
Most of the staff are indifferent to members and sometimes downright rude.
I will be looking elsewhere!!

Skin infection waiting to happen

The gym is a hairs breath for a major skin infection our worse.... in a word, it's filthy. Steam room is beyond dirty!!! Pool side is not much better. Some equipment has been broken for months on end. I would honestly pay more for a cleaner place to train. I go to this gym because it's within walking distance from my home. And I don't own a car.

Dilapidated Gym

Came back to this gym after a break of a couple of years only because it has a pool but found it's filthy, often has broken machines, the pool ceiling is taped together from since I left, lockers don't work, no spray or roll in the gym area, the steam room has been out of service for months, they used to have a jacuzzi but shut it down, the showers don't work tiles are broken shower doors don't close and they smell and make weird noises. The staff are hideous and never acknowledge you a hello or a goodbye. Don't waste your money here. There absolutely nothing good about this place.

Place has hit rock bottom

Place has hit rock bottom. Recent manager was keeping the club afloat. Jo the current manager is awful! Hygiene issues, rude and has no idea. Spends most of their time at a computer and not looking after the club!

Poor Customer service, Rude manager

I called the gym at the beginning of this month to cancel my gym membership as I am a student and going back to uni. I gave exactly 31 days notice and was told that I would not be charged further. I then see a pending direct debit for the 1st of September, so I called the gym again asking why I was being charged to then be told that the membership was not cancelled correctly and that there was nothing they could do about it. The manager was very dismissive and clearly did not care and a knowledge the fact that this was an error caused by his member of staff. There is no reason why I should pay for another month when I gave 30 days notice and I won’t even be in the area to use the gym.

Tricked into 12 month contract

Put on a 12 month contract despite making it very clear I wasn’t going to be living in the area for even half of that. Getting in contact regarding the contract enquiry takes days and multiple email chases. Now stuck on a year contract when I don’t even live in the town!

Multiple machines broke at a time. Has the bare minimum for beginers…
