Not happy with new refurb

Please add West Bridgford / Wilford Nottingham to the list of locations if you dare!!

From a visual impairment point of view the newly refurbished gym is terrible. Everything is BLACk!! It’s dark and gloomy and depressing. Why did any of the management not conduct any focus groups before changing the previous layout. You have completely alienated a whole group of older and diverse members by changing the layout and colour scheme from when it was ROKO.

It’s awful. I’m glad I’ve cancelled my membership. I suspect a may not be the only member who feels the same. It’s not a pleasant place to cone anymore. What a shame after 7 years.

Everlast definitely know what they are…

Everlast definitely know what they are doing when people want to cancel it’s like jumping through hoops and if you aren’t careful you’ll rack up ridiculous arrears even though you don’t use the gym and have tried to cancel. Pathetic

⭐ 1 Star Review

⭐ 1 Star Review - Chiswick Everlast Gym
Title:Great Staff, But the Facility Is in a Terrible State

All the staff at Everlast Chiswick (formerly Roko) deserve real praise. They’re friendly, professional, and doing their best in an incredibly bad situation. Sadly, the club itself is dangerously outdated, unhygienic, and deteriorating fast.

The spa area is in a shocking state. The jacuzzi is dirty, often covered with a bubbly, discoloured scum. The tiles are cracked, and there’s mould everywhere around the pool and spa. The steam-room door is broken, letting steam escape and creating scalding condensation that drips from the ceiling onto people below. The sauna benches were replaced, but the job was 'poorly done'. The room remains filthy and the temperature often becomes 'dangerously high', leaving members dizzy or faint.

The 'pool area' is covered in 'mould and damp spores', a breeding ground for bacteria. The mosaic tiles are chipped and broken. I cut my foot on a tile shard in the pool and later developed 'hot-tub folliculitis' on my face, confirmed by my doctor, who prescribed antibiotics and advised me to stop using the facilities.

Although the steam room was “renovated,” it looks like a superficial fix. The overall spa area feels tired, unsafe, and unsanitary.

The gym equipment works but is 'very old', and the space feels neglected. Everlast took over in January 2025 and promised a full refurbishment- first for June, then August, then September. It’s now October 2025, and still nothing has happened. The club continues to decline.

Meanwhile, member benefits have been reduced but fees remain the same. Free towels and swimming-costume dryers have gone, and the gym now closes 30 minutes earlier, cutting member access by around 14 hours per month with no fee adjustment.

The classes are excellent, especially Pilates and yoga, but the studios are dirty, with worn mats and dusty air vents.

The car park, though large enough, is made of rubble and floods heavily in wet weather, creating deep puddles that are unsafe for both cars and pedestrians.

Most of the staff remain friendly and welcoming, but they’re bearing the frustration of members who feel let down by Everlast’s lack of care and unfulfilled promises. I’ve even witnessed reception staff in tears after being confronted by upset members.

I’ve attached photos on Google Review showing the poor condition of the club. Twenty years ago, this gym was first-class; now it’s a sad shadow of what it once was. The current management seems to prioritise profit over people, neglecting essential maintenance and customer wellbeing.

This is an honest review - the situation is getting worse every passing month!!!!
Come on, Everlast - where is the renovation you promised 10 months ago?

I would NOT recommend CHISWICK club London to 'New Members'.

Have visited this gym on 3 occasions

Have visited this gym on 3 occasions, on the first occasion I came out with 2 varrucas on each feet, I only took my sliders of to get changed, the 2nd occasion it was a shared pool with a keep fit/aerobics class where the lady running the class approached me and a friend telling us if we want to talk loudly can we come before or after her lesson, baring in mind she was pumping out very loud music to the point we couldn't hear one another talking so had no choice to talk loudly to one another, then this morning I'm told I have debt even though I paid for a month and only ever used the swimming pool on 2 occasions. The place has undergone upgrade so I decided to try again with a friend thinking it be cleaner however it's still as dirty as before in the pool sides, the staff on reception this morning were the final straw telling someone I came with that I have a debt, one it's nothing to do with anyone else and 2 it's un true, the place needs closing down. Will never return again. No wonder the management are pushing leaflets down Uxbridge street, the worse area for the worse gym.. don't even deserve one star tbh. Avoid the place guys. Oh and forgotten to mention the big hole in the ceiling above the pool patched up with some tape or whatever it is they used, it looks as though someone has actually fallen through it at some point? Also the jacuzzi is not available anymore, apparently they cost to much to run according to the staff.

The worst gym to cancel your membership

The worst gym to cancel your membership I have come across. I have been to many different gyms.

You cannot do this on the APP.
You cannot cancel through the online website.

If you go the website, it states to contact the Gym.

When you contact the gym, you are given an email address to the General Manager to cancel.

You also have to give one months notice as well in order to cancel which is a method to squeeze additional revenue.

In February I emailed my notice to cancel my membership so my last DD payment would have been 1st March. I sent two emails to cancel to the email address supplied. Just to be cautions I also cancelled my DD as well after paying the months notice.

As of now, mid October, my membership is still active and I am in debt according to their App. I attempted to contact the company directly through the company website, providing the details requested including my membership number. However, they ask to supply all your personal sensitive data and information to send by email or they won’t discuss your issue. I refuse to confirm sensitive data by email. A membership number is more than sufficient but they demand all sensitive data not considering emails are exposed to identify theft.

So I won’t be wasting anymore time on this. They can carry keeping my membership for as long as I could care. Won’t be paying a penny to their debt collectors if they decide to recover a dead membership if they cannot sort out their own issues.

Everlasting have a poor way of communicating. Extremely poor system to cancel memberships. There needs to be a system in place where you can directly request for closure of account.

So far you have to email the manager. So what happens if the manager doesn’t read the email or disappears? What happens if there is a delay? Bear in mind if you just paid your DD, you will then have to pay the next DD for the month’s notice.

My advice of this company that messes you around like this? Give your notice, don’t wait for any response and then CANCEL your DD. That way they cannot take you for another £30. If they refer this to the debt collectors just ignore the letters and let this company learn the value of customer service.

If I had not cancelled my DD there is no doubt this gym would continue to bill me and generate as much revenue as they can unethically and most certainly not refund me. This company baffles me how they allow a doormat account that has not been used of over six months, not paid anything since that date, and allow the membership to continue and do nothing about it? Absolutely poor responsibility with management.

A gym that is old fashioned, outdated and not 24 hours, needs an openness to change their CS compared to other modern gyms. Very poor.

Almost got kicked out for bad reason

It was my first time going to this gym with my bf and I wore a flexible dress. After some time the person that let me in “Hannah” an older lady with red hair, told me that I can’t wear a dress and there’s a dress code that I need to put on sports wear and if I have nothing else we need to leave and after looking at my phone she mentions i can’t record. I would’ve left if my bf didn’t ask to see this in the terms and conditions, she said she’d go down and find it. After around 10 minutes one of her colleagues comes to us and asked us to not to record unless we ask permission. We said that we won’t and asked about the “dress code” and told us they didn’t have one. And we almost got kicked out because of her. P.s this was in Cambridge

WEST BRIDGFORD EVERLAST GYM

Today I had a new experience trying a free day pass for the new West Bridgford Everlast gym, and I am disgusted.

Firstly, the ladies on reception were not nice and not friendly. I stood in the queue, and there were two people complaining about the service. I came in, and I saw one of the personal trainers, a beautiful girl with black hair and a lovely shape. She was coaching an old lady, which I think is a hard challenge, but she really impressed me. I was waiting for her to finish working with her client. After some time, I did want to go up to her and ask her if she could possibly be my personal trainer, but what I saw, I had never seen before.

She was hovering all over the big floor at the top of the gym, then she mopped everything, then she put the very heavy weights in place, and in the end, she was cleaning the whole treadmill area on her knees, really? I do understand that maybe a tiny bit of tidiness is important, but that was absolutely too much. It really upset me, as in the Netherfield area, West Bridgford has cleaning staff, but the personal trainers don't clean. I found that a lack of respect for her, as she is qualified to do her job, not to be used for the purpose of the gym. I went to the reception ladies, and they were not nice at all, and they said that they have to do it as well. No, they don't; they didn't even help this poor girl. They had fun chatting with smirky smiles on their faces and doing nothing at all. When I tried to talk to them and pass positive feedback for this girl and complain about the receptionist ladies, they completely ignored my feelings. In the end, I asked if I had a 3-day pass, could I come back tomorrow and Tuesday to explore the place. They told me no, as I only have a one-day pass, really? I've never seen anything like it, where the atmosphere in Netherfield is just amazing; the staff is happy, helpful, friendly, not cold and nasty like in the West Bridgford one. Very sad, as that is a new gym, and the reception team should care for their new potential customers. Because I have experience in a gym environment, as I've been training for a very long time as a professional bodybuilder for years, I will definitely be giving bad feedback for this place. Because you can see how the staff has been treated there.

Excellent pool and facilities

I did a trial session in January, staff were friendly and helpful. I'm a swimmer and the pool is big enough for a proper swim. Steam room and sauna a real bonus. Large changing rooms with good facilities.

Avoid this gym like the plague

Avoid this gym like the plague! The service is abysmal, with ridiculously long waits at the front desk due to inadequate staffing. I've waited 15-20 minutes just to be served, with one lone staff member struggling to cope while the manager and assistant manager sit idly by, chatting away and showing a complete lack of interest in helping out. It's appalling to see members being neglected in this way. The steam room is perpetually out of order, and don't expect a courtesy notice from the lazy staff. You'll find out it's broken after you've already changed and made the effort to get there. The lack of customer care and blatant disregard for members' time is staggering. Save yourself the frustration and take your membership (and your money) elsewhere. This gym is a total waste of time and money.

A Dump.

Just left Everlast after several years. Joined in 2017 when it was DW fitness and transferred my membership here from Byker. Covid hut and DW went bust and Mike Ashley takes over and like everything else the man touches it just went down hill.

The place looked a bit rough in 2022 when we were all promised a full refurbishment was coming "soon.". Then in 2023 the hot tub closed for "temporary maintenance" and would be fixed "soon." Two years later they've built plastic decking over it and it ain't re-opening.
Only 3 showers ever work and if someone uses the one next to you, you water goes off. Soap dispensers and toilet roll never replaced in toilets. Same rubbish in the changing room for several days. The showers are covered in mould and stink of drains.
The final straw was there was a wood screw lying on the floor of the changing room for over two weeks in exactly the same place giving me the evidence needed to confirm the floors hadn't been swept or mopped in this time. This is not acceptable.
This place is a sad reflection of its former glory and it's lost by business. I won't be paying them a month's notice either.

I worked at Canterbury gym for 15 years when it was DW it then was everlast .after a long while I had to leave as was repeatedly underpaid ...this july under completely new staff and was asked to come in to cover and potentially do some new classes ...I did 6 classes in july and it is now October and still no payment....I was asked to do more classes 3 more times but I said I d be a fool to do more until paid ...the girls at desk are sweet but obviously can do nothing and it seems the same for the managers who keep promising me payment but nothing....the main manager just passed me off saying not his responsibility!!

Neverlast Gyms

I’ve been coming to this gym since it was the DW, From broken equipment to a £40 a month membership only for the steam room to be off 3 times a year ( for “2 weeks”, and the pool constantly being busy it’s starting to go downhill massively this place, Showers smell like shit, dirty unclean floors and as I mentioned £40 a year for half of the activities not to be on offer, 0 compensation for anyone effected by these condtant problems that get neglected and left. This gym used to be amazing now it’s crap. Standards have really dropped here

Islamophobic business spreading hate on social media. No doubt posted without thinking and will probably hide behind ‘my account was hacked’ BS. There is no tolerance for racism or Islamophobia. You’re uneducated and spreading your venom about things you know nothing about is only further fuelling the fire. BOYCOTT THIS GYM. They don’t care about children being murdered and would rather blame everything on Islam. Typical roundabout painter racist.

Everlast Chiswick – A Masterclass in Misleading Advertising and Poor Customer Service

I joined Everlast Chiswick primarily for access to the jacuzzi — a feature prominently advertised and central to my decision. What I got instead was a string of broken promises, substandard service, and a membership that steadily lost value while the fees remained unchanged.
The jacuzzi has been out of order for months, with no clear timeline for repair. The towel service and swimsuit spinner were removed, and members were expected to accept these losses without compensation. These amenities were not “extras”, to quote Emily from the Chiswick branch, they were part of the offering that justified the price point.
To make matters worse, I was overcharged for two consecutive months earlier this year. It took an unacceptable amount of time to resolve, and I had to chase repeatedly. The lack of accountability and transparency is staggering.
When I raised concerns and requested to cancel my membership without penalty — citing the Consumer Rights Act and the significant change in service — I was met with rigid policy talk and a dismissive attitude. The club insists that broken or removed amenities don’t breach their terms, despite the fact that they were key selling points.
If you're considering joining Everlast Chiswick for the jacuzzi or any of the advertised amenities, be warned the jacuzzi is a “supplementary amenity”: it may not be available, and you’ll be left paying for a diminished experience with little recourse.
