Beware wanting to add extras to flights after booking packages
Booked a package flight and hotel to Copenhagen, with the intention of adding baggage later (because we didn't need the full 'add-on' packages for the whole family). Once confirmed, I went back to booking to add baggage and was told I needed to book direct with airline, but once you get through to Norwegian Air they tell you it can only be added through agent when a package has been booked. Expedia is not clear on any of this until I spoke to their bot-like customer support who have basically told me it's tough and we'll have to add at the airport - doubling the cost of adding the luggage. They won't help at all and don't care that their website has lies and misleads you. We've saved hard for this break and extra costs cause us issues - not to mention the fact they are misleading customers. It has made me question their entire model and I don't think we'll book with them again as we won't ever know if we're being duped.

Had to cancel hotel due to illness. Provided hospital letter stating that I was unable to travel.
Loads of back and forth with email and calls to be told that they could not get in contact with management from the hotel and could not issue a refund.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience using Expedia.
I booked a ticket and accidentally selected the wrong date. I requested a refund on the 19th of March, and I was told it would take 7–10 working days. It is now the 8th of April — well over 20 days later — and I still have not received my refund.
Instead of resolving the issue, I have been passed around in circles with no clear answers or accountability. The communication has been frustrating, inconsistent, and honestly unacceptable.
At this point, it feels like I have been misled. Promises were made but not kept, and there is a serious lack of transparency. This experience has made me question the company’s integrity — it feels like a scam, and customers should be cautious.
I will not be booking with this company again. If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, I strongly advise looking elsewhere.

Do not hire a car from Expedia
We paid for a hire car via Expedia from Sixt. How it seems to work is that what ever you paid Expedia they send a credit note over to Sixt for that amount, however Sixt then charge you directly the cost of the hire car minus the credit note. Therefore you have no idea how much it’s going to cost to hire the car until you pick up your car! We ended up paying an extra £70 on a £200 hire just because Expedia hadn’t worked it out right. It would have been a lot cheaper to go direct to Sixt.

Very disappointing experience with Expedia.
I booked a flight and hotel together and paid in full, but immediately after, I was notified that my return flight was cancelled. When I contacted support, they told me to deal with the airline myself and refused to help or cancel my hotel booking.
I ended up rebooking my flight at extra cost and dealing with everything on my own, which caused unnecessary stress.
This makes me question the value of booking through Expedia—there was no real support when things went wrong.

Terrible Customer Service in time of Need!
Terrible Customer Service in time of need! We were stranded in Dubai due to the conflict and Expedia were unable to re book us onto another flight when ours was cancelled due to the system being unable to. They didnt event try to book us onto a new flight and have been so unhelpful throughout the ordeal.
The chat bot is terrible and when you get through on the phones they just say things will get actioned and then you do not hear back. Tried to make a complaint to the supervisor and they just put the phone down on me!
Would strongly advise to never book with Expedia as if something goes wrong you are on your own and will never get any help or proactivity. Awful Company!

WORST TRAVEL AGENT EVER, AVOID AT ALL COST.
I booked a round trip to Sri Lanka through Expedia (flight only). Emirates, the airline, informed me that the outgoing flight has been cancelled and asked me to contact Expedia to change the flight. So I contacted Expedia who refused to change the flight saying that they haven't received an update from the airline informing them that the flight is cancelled. The person I spoke to said that he will contact Emirates and asked me to call back in couple of days. However when I contacted two days later, still the same story. Very unhelpful call handlers. They just want to pacify you without actually doing anything about the problem. So still waiting to see whether they will change my flight. However based on some of the reviews I have seen here I feel this is unlikely to happen. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
Nightmare to get a refund
Booked a hotel for work and they had to turn me away due to a powercut - trying to arrange a refund has been an absolute nightmare. I was speaking to the hotel and Expedia at the same time and their stories weren't matching up. Sanobar on the live chat obviously had enough of trying to help me and ended the conversation without a resolution.
It looks like I shall have to go through the tedious process of making a claim through my bank.
Will Never Use Again!
I used Expedia to book return flights to Kochi, India following cancellation of my Emirates flights when the Middle East erupted into chaos.
I arrived safely on a Virgin flight. The trouble started when Etihad cancelled the 1st leg (Kochi to Abu Dhabi) of my return flight. I received an email from Expedia requesting that I call to "find a new flight"
"Please note: This cancelation only affects the flight(s) listed below and your other flight(s) may not be affected"
The 2nd leg (Abu Dhabi to Heathrow) was showing as confirmed. So I bought an Air Arabia flight to Abu Dhabi but wanted to double check that the 2nd leg definitely was confirmed.
I called Expedia on 5 occasions
7/3 37 mins incl. wait time (agent sounded as if they still had sleep in their eyes) - no alternate flights available only action is to cancel
8/3 38 mins incl. wait time (very enthusiastic agent who told me that the flight was still active)
8/3 2 hours incl. wait time (only recourse is to cancel and obtain a refund. I got cut off before the task was completed
9/3 45 mins incl. wait time - flight cancelled and refund requested - could take 7-10 working days to process
29/3 11 mins incl wait time - 15 working days have passed, refund still pending, agent to escalate to back office.
Using a travel consultant, I managed to organise a very expensive return flight using Air India, arriving 24 hours after my original return date.
Expedia only works if there are no issues. It's a glorified search engine that I will never use again.

Excellen customer service
While on my trip in London my handbag and documents were stolen, I had to come back home earlier and had to cancel my booking with Expedia. Customer service was incredibly supportive, they contacted hotel , cancelled my booking which was non refundable and issued refund . I am very grateful as did not expect I would get a refund. It is nice to know that someone treats you like you are a human being and not just 'a customer'. Thank you Expedia.
Expedia do not honour large TopCashBack claims
I have had a large TopCashBack claim declined on a holiday booking with Expedia. No specific reason given, just generalities. Facts:
TopCashBack know that there was click through on the link. Expedia know there was a booking made at the same time. Still it was declined with no review, appeal or explanation.
In view of the facts it seems that they do not act in good faith to process a large claim. Beware! You cannot rely on them to pay out and TopCashBack tells you tough, there is nothing you can do about it.
