While we don't verify specific claims because reviewers' opinions are their own, we may label reviews as "Verified" when we can confirm a business interaction took place. Read more

You keep sending me lists of lenders who I am pre approved for a loan only for me to be refused. The hard search that they carry out adversely affects my credit rating.
When I have asked you why I have been refused I am told to contact the lender and when I do they tell me to contact you.
This is a joke and it just wastes my time.

I contacted Experian's customer service regarding an open case and got stuck in a loop where they keep sending me the same request to send them sensitive personal information over email, despite my explanation that I wasn't happy to share such sensitive data via an unsecured email channel.
I've told them:
- that I'd be happy to provide that information over the phone (they refused)
- that they shouldn't be making claims that my data was secure when it involves external channels that they don't own or control
- that I request an escalation of this matter to someone from their data security team who can have a more informed conversation about their process and the above unbacked claimed and propose an alternative
- and that they didn't really need authentication at all because they have the details of the case and as the problem was in communication between them and a financial institution, they could contact them directly to verify and correct my information without my involvement.
All I get every time is a copy and paste request for the same information, completely ignoring anything I say in my emails.
It's crossed the line from unacceptable service to passive-aggressive trolling.

Do not rely on Experian for support if you become a victim of identity fraud. I was given conflicting information for months and felt forced to pay for a subscription simply so I could access updated credit information in real time and try to get the issues resolved.
Despite filing a police report, most of the work had to be done directly with the organisations incorrectly reporting information on my credit file, and the process has taken months to untangle. Even after obtaining written evidence from a company confirming I had been incorrectly linked to another individual, Experian still failed to take meaningful action and instead continued shifting responsibility onto other organisations.
What should have been a straightforward correction of inaccurate data has turned into an exhausting and stressful experience. I never expected to have to consider naming Experian in legal proceedings simply to have inaccurate information properly addressed

I've used Experian a lot over time and have found it to be useful.
However, last week I got an unsolicited letter in the mail from Aqua Card.
They got my details from Experian. "Experian collects consented information from the edited Electoral Roll and third parties and passes it on to businesses, who can use it for marketing purposes. Details on where Experian collects the information and how to opt out can be found on this page."
In order to get my name of their list, I have to fill in all sorts of personal details, which I don't want to share.
In this day and age, we get a lot of unsolicited scam calls and e-mails. It doesn't help if Experian starts sharing your personal information with dodgy credit companies.

The dirty no good ignorant scammers sent me junk mail by post. They refuse to answer the phone and explain where and how they got my address.

I had cause to contact Experian as I’d had notification that a hard search had taken place on my account.
I spoke to a very nice person called Tom who explained and put my mind at ease as to why the search which was all very legitimate had taken place Equally Tom explained how to keep safe in these worrying times of scams. I was completely happy and satisfied with contact I had with Experian and would recommend their services.
