Trouble at t'mill
I'm so glad I made my purchase through PayPal as Expert Verdict did not refund the item I returned, and did not reply to any of my emails chasing it up. So I had to make a complaint and then escalate to a claim via PayPal who thankfully sorted it out and finally I have now got my very delayed refund. When I first made the order back in November of last year I didn't even get an order acknowledgement from the company so I thought something was off right from the start. I've ordered a couple of things in the past from this company and didn't have this kind of problem then, so I think there are issues with the business. Scotts (2023) and Woolovers are involved with this company now, who I have always thought were reliable businesses, but things seem pretty chaotic.
Bad service
Returned an item 9th Oct 2023 to Expert verdict for a refund £24.96. Phoned the company 26/10/2023 & they confirmed they had received it & a refund was going to be sent to me. I have sent them a letter via recorded del chasing 11/12/2023 also several emails! No replies from them.

Terrible company! Appalling customer service!
Ordered a cutlery set for my elderly neighbour living with terminal cancer and received a roll of tape instead with the value the fraction of what was really ordered. Enclosed in the parcel was an invoice with all the correct product information on. Despite multiple attempts to contact via email all of which were ignored and being left on hold for 10 minutes whist paying 7p a minute for the call I have given up and accepted my loss! I will never ever order from this company again! I am disgusted that a company who targets the elderly and vulnerable do not take more time for customer service!

Failure to replace defective kettle
I purchased a kettle in February which developed fault. Spoke to customer services who agreed to replace the item. I returned the faulty kettle in the prescribed manner and followed up with e-mail. Called customer services who confirmed receipt and promised replacement would be despatched. Made repeated calls to Customer Services throughout summer and was promised call backs that never happened. Finally in October after further call I was advised that Scotts of Stow, Expert Verdict's parent company, had gone in to liquidation back in March and was now owned by Wool Overs and that I should contact the Administrators - Resolve - made several attempts but phone never answered. As Expert Verdict and Scotts appear to be trading as normal I have made a further call to Customer service who once again promised to call back. I am still waiting.
This is appalling trading practice. Who now owns this company? as I understand Wool Overs have themselves been taken over.
Where’s my dvd player?
I ordered a dvd player online on 21st Sept
2023 and have still not received it as of 4 th Oct . I called their premium rate number to ask where it was and kept being told it should be arriving soon.Rang again

Absolutely shocking service. Elderly grandparents ordered in February and are still waiting on their items. Every time they chase it up with ExpertVerdict they get told a later and later delivery date. Avoid at all costs!
Still sending catalogues to someone who died 6 months ago
My late Mum spent hundreds of pounds buying useless, overpriced items from this company which I only discovered after she had passed. I used the Bereavement service which informed all mailing companies of her death and requested her address be removed from any mailing lists. Every single one except Expert verdict and associated companies have since stopped all mail to her address but Expert verdict have continued sending numerous catalogues to her address. It’s upsetting enough to keep going back to take care of her house without having these catalogues in her name constantly greeting me on her doormat as a reminder she is no longer here!!! I have tried on numerous times to get through to customer services to inform them of her death and despite being on hold for long periods of time, I’ve never been able to get through. Incidentally this isn’t a free phone number so I have accumulated many charges on my phone bill yet still keep getting the catalogues through. I’m guessing that if you’re placing an order with them they answer the phone promptly. Or maybe not if they’re charging elderly, vulnerable people a lot to ring them up with orders because lets be honest these likely form much of their customer base. Every other company I have dealt with has been compassionate and helpful but not Expert Verdict.
Fraudulent company from my own…
Fraudulent company from my own experience. They said the items ordered were out of stock (very likely never in stock), still no refund several months later. I've contacted them by phone and email several times, only to be lied to. This company cannot be trusted and should be banned from trading. Any good reviews on here must be written by their own employees. They also display the paypal logo on their websites which was not even a payment option during the checkout process, so must only be there to gain the trust of potential customers.
Warning. Avoid buying from the other names they trade under which are:
Scotts of Stow, Expert Verdict, Bloom, Gift Discoveries, Viva Vitality (targeting vulnerable and elderly people), Aston & Rose, Traditional Garden and supply company, and The garden fragrance company.

Their latest excuse for not refunding my order payment is that they went into administration in March. Even though they are still advertising and selling products online. They gave the following suspect contact details of the "administrators":

These people just made up excuses for the company and apparently don't think refunding customers for out of stock items matters? This kind of treatment will lose them hundreds of pounds in orders just from the people I know, so they will be the losers at the end of the day.
If you don't want to be ripped off you should avoid shopping with this scam company, and add the above details to your retailer blacklist immediately.
I'll let you know if they ever do refund the money they owe me.
Unscrupulous company
If there was a - rating for Expert Verdict it would get a -100, your customers service is a joke, it takes 20 mins for them to answer the phone, then after they ask for your address, they cut you off, it's very strange when you call to place an order, the phone is answered straight away, I'm still waiting for a refund from something that I paid for back in February, by the way they took payment for something that wasn't in stock, so be very careful with dealing with this unscrupulous company.
Awful customer service
Previously ordered no problem, but have been waiting 12 weeks for an order now. 4 weeks ago contacted them again for an update, and they "couldn't give me any information" there and then and said they would contact me "some time in the next 10 days" - that's not a reasonable time frame when a company is sitting on £100 of your money and refusing to tell you if the product you needed weeks ago will arrive and when. To add insult to injury they never called back. I've just rang and cancelled the order and allegedly am getting a refund in 3-5 days - I very much hope that goes ahead as promised. This time they blamed the supplier not being able to keep up with demand which is funny, because in the meantime I've purchased directly from the supplier who saud they had no manufacture or supply issues, and it arrived within 24 hours.

The website to place an order was very difficult to navigate. I was asked multiple times for my email address, my pass word etc. The, in order to claim the 'free delivery' I had to enter it all over again and still I could not place the order. The tone of the questions was was unpleasant. In the end, I placed the order over the phone at the cost of 7p per minute. Not a pleasant experience.
