Customer Service
Went there a month or so ago to buy a rear light bulb. They found one in a box, fitted it and then didn't charge me, amazing service. Went back today to have a new battery and another rear light fitted and service was equally as good, they had to invoice me this time though, Ha ha!! Very nice people to deal with.
Great service friendly helpful staff
I went in for advice on my making sure my tyres are safe and all the staff were very friendly helpful and informative can't rate them highly enough 👍

Poor experience
1. Booked car in for Service, MOT and to replace the valve on Tyre pressure monitor sensor (TPMS). No problems with the booking. Attended in person to do so.
2. Arrived on the day at the specified time to be informed that someone has phoned in sick and they will not be able to carry out the Service but will do the MOT and TPMS. Annoying, but fine.
3. Received a phone call several hours later to inform of the cost of repairs/replacements needed for the car. This was upwards of £800 following the Service they’d already advised me they wouldn’t be doing. Front break pads and discs urgently need replacing and rear pads the same. This is without completing the MOT at this stage.
I felt they attempted to scaremonger me into committing to get the work done by using language that suggested my car would not be road safe. I was informed the pads were 3mm thick.
3. Had not looked at the TPMS because they report they were not informed of this (they were. On the time of booking and time of leaving car with them for work). Turns out they didn’t have equipment for it anyway. This element not completed and advised to go elsewhere to another branch.
I made it clear I would like to take my car elsewhere for any repairs or replacements as felt so far my experience was inconsistent, frustrating and was being exploited.
Left my car with them for the MOT which then conveniently fails. By this point I have arrived in branch to wait for and collect car. I was greeted by the same man who I’d had the “pleasure” of having a phone conversation with. He informed that they’ve had “trouble with the car” and it has failed. He called the person who performed the MOT to explain to me what it has failed on. Something to do with a Lambda. They put a probe in the exhaust and it gives them a reading (in laments terms). He wasn’t able to explain why this element had failed but could be any number of reasons (he listed about 3 possibilities) but also said it could be because the probe was put in when the car was cold. This information was given to me under the watchful eye of 3 men who work there. Probably a further method of intimidation. At 36 weeks pregnant, my only intention is to make sure my car is road safe in time for the birth of my baby.
I would like to add that I’m aware of the legal requirement of the break pads and know that 3mm is double the legal road safety requirement.
I also know that the probe should be placed in the exhaust when the car is at its running temperature. NOT when it’s cold which he openly admitted he did.
I shall not return

Avoid , unprofessional and rude.
Aside from being rude and treating me like an inconvenience, my car was left in a dangerous state after two staff members had had a go at doing my wheel alignment.
They should have come and said that they can’t do it but instead they tried for an hour and then gave me the keys said there you are, no paperwork nothing.
A day later took my car to my garage as it wasn’t stealing properly and he rang me an hour later took ask if I’d won the lottery because I must be so lucky not to have had an accident. Track rod left not tightened and everything wobbling.

Helpful & Great Sevice
I previously had a slow puncture, which I had repaired & as the problem continued I ended up getting the tyre changed in the Stevenage branch.
I went back to the Hertford branch as it is close to my work place to get the tyre checked as the pressure went down again drastically. I left my car with Michael to have the tyre checked. Even though he could not find a fault, he resealed the tyre & replaced the valve to prevent any further problems, at no extra cost. I was very pleased with the service and helpfulness of Michael. I would not hesitate to go back to them if needed in the future or to recommend them.

Do not under any circumstances use Formula 1 Autocentre in Hertford. Our car was towed to the garage by the RAC having broken down at the end of May. We decided to scrap the vehicle based on the garages advice that the repairs would be too costly. We received no paperwork to confirm this and mostly spoke to one member of staff when phoning the garage. Whilst on the phone to formula one, one of their employees said ‘we can scrap it for you’ under the pretence that this was legitimate and through formula one and offered us what he claimed was the scrap value of the vehicle but we didn’t receive the payment. This phone call took place on the formula one number whilst he was working at the garage. I chased payment for this and I was advised that the member of staff I spoke to had since been fired for ‘dodgy dealings’ at the garage and to report our vehicle as stolen to the Police, which I have done.. The vehicle was left in their care and they cannot tell me its whereabouts but they are taking no responsibility. Head office are claiming it’s a ‘civil matter’ and will not return the vehicle or money owed. I have been treated with utter disrespect.

AVOID F1 !! Second branch in 1 week !
After my last review on how poor the service is and dangerous to people who don’t know what to look out for.
I was booked in to Hertford branch to correct all the errors they made just fitting my tyres, after a hour of wasting my time driving there the tyre fitter had not turned up so only service techs there and he said we might be able to squeeze you in later but his not a tyre fitter!!
Absolutely shambles of a company and how on earth are they still in business!
I could run these places with my eyes shut, it’s a disgrace

Just closing but still fabulous
Just before closing tonight I rocked up with a flat tyre on my little Fiat 500 and Sam and Adam very kindly popped in a new valve and got me back on the road within two minutes.
So grateful. Such great service, highly recommended!
Shocking service
Shocking service. Told we had to wait 4 hours for tyre replacement having booked a 1hr slot. They then put the tyres on the back instead of the front and instead of apologising just said the rear ones looked more worn when clearly they had been told they were for the front! Very rude staff.

Hertford Formula 1 Garage - Brillaint
Took my car to the Formula 1 garage in Hertford to have all 4 tyre valves changed as I’d put metal valve caps on which had ceased on. They changed them all and it took around 45 minutes and they didn’t charge me anything. Brilliant service and could not recommend them enough.
Shady
Car broke down, alternator and alternator cord went. Got car recovered to the Formula One garage and called them first thing… said they could do work, wanted to charge over a thousand pounds to do work, but queried the total, asked for a breakdown of parts, cost and labour etc. next thing I speak to someone and they refuse to do the work…. Had to pay to tow the car to another garage and as I suspected, it cost a lot less than they were quoting! Dodgy!!! Will certainly not return to this garage.

Very disappointed
I am extremely disappointed with the service at the Formula One Garage Hertford.
I left my car on June 1st today at the garage to replace two front tires and front wheel tracking. I decided to go earlier and was in front of the garage at 09:40 after about 2-3 minutes a man (team member) came, politely asked me if I had an appointment, I explained that I had an appointment at 10:00 to replace two front tires and compete two wheel tracking. Team member offered me to leave the car, he took my phone number and said he will call me once the car is ready and once garage is open at 10:00 my car will be first.
At 12:54 I decided to go and see what was happening with the car and to my great disappointment the car wasn’t moved and was left in the same place where I left it in the morning and no one had bothered to start working on my car.
The man and another member of the team when they saw me they quickly entered the back of the office, when I entered the office the team member with whom I left my keys told me that they had opened at 11:00 and that is why they had not started my car. I want to note that I had an appointment for 10:00 and I also want to say that when I passed by the garage with my wife and her car at 10:18 the service was open. When I kindly asked why my car had not been started and garage is full with cars, the team member told me that these were cars from yesterday…. really…. I don’t believe that and why I have been given appointment for 10:00?? The cost for two new tyres including replacement and two wheel tracking cost me £334.96 and all stress that is definitely not worth it at all. I had to call work to change my shift because I did not expect changing two front tires and two wheel tracking to take a whole day.
I am extremely disappointed with the service and attitude of the employees. I felt really discriminated and disappointed. I cannot accept the excuse that the cars that are inside are from yesterday and they started doing them today. I can’t accept when you leave car for any work no one should call and let you know the car is ready…..
I never received a call to let me know that my car was ready and I didn't receive any document/ invoice showing what services were performed on my car, I collected my car at 15:30, 30 min before garage close.
Extremely disappointed and definitely will not recommend the garage to family, friends, colleagues….

I booked an MOT at the Hertford Centre. I phoned to confirm and had an email confirming but when I arrived the staff members were swearing and said no managers were in and no technicians.

Had 2 new front tyres fitted which resulted in having a wheel nut damaged and not replaced and a month or 2 later I could hear a knocking sound from my front offside tyre. And when looked at by another garage was told the wheel nuts were not tight enough and my wheel was loose. NOT IMPRESSED!!!!!

Very poor service
Very poor service, went there in February had great service, so went back on 26-04-25 had booking time between 12.00 / 13.00 to have 2 tyres fitted ,hour and half later, they said they couldn’t find locking wheel nut , it was on passenger seat, got out of there at 14.30 , when I got home 2 missing wheel nut covers . Will not be returning and do not recommend, language not very good from fitters working on cars in work shop

MOT booking system needs fixing
Booked car in for MOT online, and then half way through the MOT, was advised they could not continue as the jack/lift could not raise my vehicle, and they had had same issue previously with same make of vehicle.
Beg's the question with on line booking why they can't put a simple algorithm in place to not accept vehicles they cannot MOT due to their lack of equipment. Wasted whole afternoon taking time off work, and then having the inconvenience having to book elsewhere and take more time off, when all could have been sorted during booking process. And then typically they cannot sort out a refund as it's the weekend, so they have your money longer in their account, rather than yours. And then will probably take a week for the refund to arrive in your account.
Normally had no trouble, with F1, but this has left a bitter memory. Working in software, this is a simple change to the code, so this cannot happen.
And as garage said, I was not the first.
It's not the garage staff fault, but a company fault
‘‘It’ll be ready today,” yet ..
‘‘It’ll be ready today,” yet nothing was ever done. They kept my car for 7 days, no phone call for an update and when I rang to find out if I could get my car, Jay kept assuring me, ‘it will be done today by 6pm’ as it would take him no longer 30 minutes to do it. 7 days later still nothing was done. Constant excuses along the way; at 1st, the part was in their stock, 2nd conversation; no actually it wasn’t in the stock, then 3rd call, the part would arrive the next day with a courier, 4th call (4 days later) the part had arrived at the garage half an hour ago and would be fitted by tomorrow and on the final conversation he tells me that he had told me he won’t have the part for 10-14 days! Unnecessary. Why can’t you just be honest with your customers who have busy family lives and rely on their cars.I had no choice but to take my car elsewhere for repairs in the end. An absolute waste of time. To make the matters worse, because Jay dragged it out past the 14-day MOT retest window, they wanted to charge me for another MOT! You wonder if this was the plan all along. Absolutely unacceptable.I rather to give my business elsewhere. If you value your time and money, go somewhere else—this place is nothing but stress and false promises.
