Really impressed

Really impressed with these guys. I have used them twice now, most recently for my MOT and they are so friendly, professional and really helpful. They are clearly very honest professionals and just want to do a good job for you rather than trying to get you to pay over the odds for things you don't need. I would highly recommend this garage and will be using them for all my car needs in the future.

Poor experience

Had my brake discs and pads replaced. Car was pulling to left, which was not the case before. Took it immediately back. They suggested I give it a week to let it bed in, if it doesn’t they’d fix it “no questions asked”. No improvement, so had to take it back. I was then told it was a wheel alignment issue  which they charged extra to fix. They wouldn't even do a road test with me to check if issues remain. Not a good experience at all. Can’t recommend, sorry.

I popped in on the off chance as I was in need of a couple of tyres and it was my only day off. I’m so glad I did as I couldn’t be happier with my experience! They managed to fit me in even though they were busy and their customer service was great! I was served by a man called Adam who was super helpful and very polite. Would definitely recommend, great service and I will be back in the future!

Absolutely first class service to resolve an air conditioner fault on my Audi from the Norwich team.
Special word of thanks to Sean who went out of his way to get the repair done despite staff absences

Warranty Dodgers

On 17/09/21 I had a new clutch, flywheel, clutch fork, ball pin, ball pin plate, fitted by your branch at 81 Barn Road, Norwich NR2 4UB, of which the cost came to: parts £880.12 labour £453.15
This was financed through Payment Assist £999.92, and an up front cost of £600, total £1599.92 spent.
This job took them the best part of 2 weeks, and I was told by one of your members of staff at the time that Danny, the mechanic who had fitted it, was not confident and probably shouldn’t have done the job.
On your website, you state clearly that this work is under warranty, under terms and conditions - warranty information: “Clutches - 2 Years or 24,000 miles”.
The Clutch felt stiff after, but as someone who has no experience of having a new clutch fitted, I assumed this to be normal. However I have since been advised by trusted mechanic that my clutch should be smooth and not stiff, he has driven it and was shocked how bad it felt.
My vehicle recently broke down on the road on the 1st May 2023, the clutch peddle went down and would not come back up, and I have only done 12k miles and has been 1 year, 8 months since the new clutch was fitted, this is not acceptable. Therefore the clutch is still within the warranty period.
RAC recovered my vehicle to a local garage, as they advised me that the master cylinder had gone and needed replacement. The mechanic replaced this but once fitted, the slave cylinder broke under the pressure of the now working master cylinder, proving that the hydraulics worked as they should, creating pressure. However, this pressure should have moved the clutch, had it been operational. This did not happen and the rod in the master cylinder was bent due to this pressure against a clutch that would not move. Brand new hydraulics should not fail like this, and it was the force of the working hydraulics that bent the rod against the clutch which clearly hadn’t moved with it.
Due to this, and the stiffness of the clutch before it went, the mechanic could now diagnose the clutch failure.
The mechanic did not touch, work on, open or in any other way intervene with the clutch, in other words he did no work that would invalidate the clutch warranty. All he replaced was the hydraulics, which were not included in the warranty, or the list of parts paid for at the time of the clutch being fitted.
The vehicle was recovered back to formula one to claim the warranty on the clutch. The car was delivered to them on Friday the 12th May.
The manager, Adam, accepted the warranty claim to begin with, with no argument, and led me to believe that the part would arrive on Monday the 15th and the job would take no longer than 2 days and I would have my vehicle back by the weekend, as I had said I need to travel to see family at the weekend.
I called Formula One Tuesday 16th May as I had not heard from them and they said they were “looking at it” and didn’t know how long it would take.
I called them again on Wednesday 17th and they said it would not come under warranty as it had been “worked on" (it hasn’t, only the hydraulics which weren’t part of the warranty) and that they believed the clutch was fine. I don’t know how they were able to test this as the hydraulics were now not working thanks to the clutch, so it would be impossible to test in this way. I asked how they had tested this and was given no answer.
My mechanic contacted the area manager, Danny Burch, and found out that they were not even aware of they’re own warranty terms and conditions, which are clearly stated and easy to find on your website.
I feel that I have been palmed off as I am a young female and they don’t want to do the work or pay out for it, when I am well within my rights to claim.
My mechanic is happy to provide you with any information you may need.
I expect you to get back to me with a solution very soon, as I’m sure you understand I have now been without a working vehicle for 19 days thanks to the branch’s refusal of doing the warranty and potentially due to an inadequate job fitting it in the first place.
I will be taking this further, opening an investigation with Trading Standards, and informing Payment Assist who I am aware you do most of your trade through of this failure to provide adequate service, if you are unable to rectify this situation within the next couple days.

Wasted trip as not told MOT ramp broken

Booked an MOT for the Norwich branch on 6th May to be carried out on the 13th May (for my daughter).
She took her car to the Autocentre for the MOT on the 13th to be told, “our MOT ramp has been broken for two weeks so we can’t do your MOT”.
Thanks F1 for the wasted journey and subsequent scrabbling around to book an MOT before the current one runs out.

If the ramp had been ‘broken for two weeks’ then it was broken when the MOT was booked, surely it should not have been possible to book such a service under the circumstances?

You had a whole seven days to advise us not to attend, which you stated you were unable to do was as you did not have a telephone number - You did however have an email address that you sent the confirmation booking to, and in that email it stated “We will contact you if there are any issues”, so that doesn’t stack up either…

Never been told that part will cost you £1000000000 million and £600000000 million labour always been given a fair price compared to previous places.
Would highly recommend this garage and have done to everyone I know

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE SERVICE

Absolutely terrible service, pre booked my car for an appointment, dropped it off in the morning to be fixed and said they would call once it's done but never did, I turned up to the garage at the time it should of been finished but told me to come back next day as they couldn't fix the problem, so came back the next day but he says the same thing, I believe the mans name was Tommy who is the receptionist or manger. They have no respect towards a customer and their time and I strongly advise no one to go here.

Avoid

The rudest and quite frankly the most useless group of people working for this garage. On two occasions we were told to come and collect our car, this involved taking time off work bringing our young child and all sorts to get pick the car up. On both occasions the car was still up in the air with the bonnet up still being worked on. If I asked the staff why I’ve been told to come up they didn’t seem to understand the problem with it. Not only this the staff on several occasions were unbelievably rude to me and my wife.
When she asked how long the car would be after waiting half hour (after being told the car was ready) she got grunted at and then ignored! She found this incredibly uncomfortable.
Avoid at all costs, rude staff, changing quote prices and complete time wasters.
Now have been asked to contact customer service, it has to be said I have already done this and all they done was responded apologising for the time took not actually any of the issues raised in my complaint. I made them aware of this by 2 emails but both have been ignored

Great savings on tyres booked on line…

Great savings on tyres booked on line fitted (check for discount codes and offers on line) I couldn't make my first appointment, phoned up and moved it later that day with no problems. Car went in soon as I arrived, all 4 tyres changed and balanced up within a hour. Was worried as seen reviews of some customers, but I must say I personally couldn't fault them. Great friendly staff 👍

The regional manager called me

The regional manager called me after I had expressed my disappointment at the communications from their Norwich branch concerning an MOT. I received an apology, a refund and a goodwill payment. Clearly F1 Auto cares about it's reputation and responds positively to comments. This prompt action is commendable and I'll be returning for the good value and normally excellent service.
