DISCRIMINATED AGAINST!!

Was told a house was not for rent as landlord was taking it off for good, this was after I had told them a few day earlier I was on full disability so did get housing benefit. I asked if he was going to put it back on again anytime soon and was told no as he didnt want to rent it out ever again. The next day, it said on the house it was Let agreed! So they clearly discriminated against me which they are legally not allowed to do anymore. I'm just as good as anyone else and trustworthy as anyone who works, but with being disabled I sadly cant work. I was extremely upset. This should not be happening in 2022!!

Avoid At All Cost!

Honestly if I could give them zero stars I would. Absolute complete time wasters. I went to view a property on behalf of my sister wanting to relocate near me. We were told the property was chain free at the time of viewing. Turns out the seller hadn’t even found a property to buy! Communication was truly dreadful throughout (I’m talking contact them several times a week with not so much as an acknowledgment that they’ve got your message dreadful). And if by some sheer miracle they do get back in touch with you, they sounded so rude like they were the ones doing you a favour. How this company is still running, I’ll never know. All the staff either needs sacking or some serious customer services training. To top it off, after 6 months of waiting, the sale ended up falling through. I’m guessing through their lack of communication with both parties because seller said ‘he was fed up’ HE WAS FED UP?! Must be having a laugh. My guess is their communication with the seller was just as sh***y as their communication with us. Save your money and list your property with someone else. Wish I’d read their reviews from the start. No surprises they are mainly negative.

Absolutely dreadful not apply

Absolutely dreadful service n aftercare after I became a tennet, there was no customer care and no help or support and it took ages to fix every problem n I would never use them again. They took 3 months to sort out blinds n over 8 months to solve a little damp issue. I advise people to stay away

Would I recommend Farrell Heyworth Morecambe…

Would I recommend Farrell Heyworth Morecambe – Yes but with some caution!
My main issue is they tried to overcharge by £516.72. When this was raised with the Assistant Manager I received an email confirming their charge would be the agreed price, only for them to present an inflated bill to my Solicitor a month later. I raised this inflated final bill with the Assistant Manager who gave an unsatisfactory response and did not address the problem of the over charge. This was escalated to the Branch Mangers attention who, after investigating, claimed this was because ‘the house would sell itself’ and a discount had been applied at the start of the sales contract. Regardless of this an inflated invoice had been presented to the Solicitor for payment and the problem of the overcharge had not been accepted or addressed to my satisfaction.
In addition to this, they proved to be slow by not updating their portal with accurate and up to date information. An example of this would be, 4 x days after completion and handover the portal still shows that searches agreed, enquiries, exchange date agreed, exchange of contracts and completion are still outstanding. This is not the case, the house has sold!
Their bill will be paid for the agreed price however having attempting to overcharge, when this issue had already been raised with Management, I find this unacceptable given that I am supposedly paying a well-established and professional company for services and expertise.
Had the correct bill been presented, feedback would have been more favourable.
Please ensure you check your final bill before instructing your Solicitor to pay, it may be wrong especially if a discount has been applied.

Unreliable agents

Absolutely horrendous customer service, no communication, the phrase "doesn't care less" springs to mind. This review is regarding the Cleveleys branch!

Appalling customer service with zero…

Appalling customer service with zero moral compass. We bought a house that was being advertised by Farrell Heyworth. Firstly they wouldn't let us even view their online video until ours was sold, yet when I called up again another day I was allowed to view the house in person. It seems the rules depend on which person happens to answer the phone.

We had our offer accepted on the house; it immediately changed to sold stc on Rightmove. Approx 8 weeks into proceedings, after thousands of pounds in solicitors fees down, we think we're just waiting on a move date and have begun packing. I by coincidence go to look at it on Rightmove and it's back on the market again. I call to find out what's going on and after a lot of to-ing and fro-ing I'm told the vendor decided it was taking too long and told them to resell it. Farrell Heyworth didn't even have the decency to let us know this; we'd have been oblivious if we hadn't seen it ourselves. They claim they called, but we had no missed call and no voicemail. Our solicitor was equally as oblivious.

So we were stressed out of our minds, frantically trying to hurry everything along at their insistence (bearing in mind the average sale takes 12 weeks and we were only 8 weeks in, with Christmas in the middle) while they think it's acceptable to still show people round and consider offers elsewhere.
They continued to advertise it as available even though our solicitor gave assurances everything was going ahead and still even after we had agreed on an exchanged date.
We had even accepted a lower offer on our own house to make it move as fast as possible to meet their ridiculous demand to exchange quickly. Whenever you call them for an update whoever you speak to doesn't know what's going on. Every single promise of a call-back never happens.

Fast forward a few weeks and we've all agreed an exchange date. We've booked in a removal company, packed our entire house up.... Only to get a phone call from Farrell Heyworth 12 hours before the exchange to say they've just discovered that the vendor doesn't legally own the property. The property we're due to exchange on and move into the following day. They tried to imply the vendors solicitor was at fault (and I'm sure they were too), but how has Farrell Heyworth got this far into a sale when they *clearly* haven't adequately checked ownership?! It absolutely beggar's belief.

So we had to pack all our belongings into the removal vans, and sit in an empty house until 4pm on the exchange day just hoping it would get sorted (which thanks to our solicitors, it did by the skin of the teeth).

Over a month after the sale and guess what? Farrell Heyworth are STILL advertising the house. The house that we are the legal owner of. I've called them twice to ask them to remove it and yet it's still on Rightmove listed as available, with excuses that "Rightmove mustn't have caught up yet". A month later? Sure....

I would avoid this company like the plague.

Premier league fees for a national league service. Farrell Heyworth about 10 years…

Used Farrell Heyworth about 10 years ago and found them very good but how times have changed. I was promised the free use of a professional photographer but that didn't happen and the agent took the snaps himself. I told them I didn't want a notice board but when the property finally sold one was put up. There were numerous times I waited for a return call that never happened and on one occasion I was not informed of a viewing until after it had taken place. As for Curtis Law, their 'recommended' solicitors, they wanted £25 up front but when I had to change to another solicitor because the purchaser was also using them they would not return my £25. This is still outstanding after many reminders.
I paid over £3000 for a second rate service and I will not be using them again under the current management.

Dreadful service

We appointed Farrel Heyworth as lettings agent for our rental property, paying for their full management package. It was a huge mistake and one we wouldn't want anyone else to make. Having convinced us to let one of their employees take the rental, vouching for their character, Farrel Heyworth subsequently conducted no periodic inspections during the tenancy. When the tenant left the property it was in a very poor condition needing over £1500 of works to put it back in to rentable order, a fact confirmed by Farrel Heyworth themselves. We therefore tried to retain the tenants deposit, however owing to the lies of the tenant and Farrel Heyworth's failure to have either a proper inventory or to act diligently in dealing with the case, the tenant retrieved the bulk of the deposit leaving us out of pocket by over £1000. Farrel Heyworth know we are in the right and their employee has acted entirely improperly, but they will do nothing about it. In brief, they don't care and on our experience they are simply not fit to operate as lettings agents.

THEY DON'T CARE!

Goodness knows how this company have 5-star reviews, (as shown on their website) as the service I received on behalf of my 81-year-old mother has been beyond appalling.
My mother’s fridge freezer broke between Christmas and new year. I reported the issue via the online reporting system on the 27th December, and was informed the office was closed as it was still the Christmas holidays. I finally received a call from a member of the lettings team on the 30th December to say their contractor wasn’t available until after new year as he was on holiday.
Obviously, we weren’t happy about with the situation, but nothing could be done, so we had to accept it. The contractor eventually visited the property the week later, informing my mother that new parts were needed. Days drifted by with no update as to when these parts would arrive, so I chased FH to see what was happening. I was informed the landlord had authorised a new fridge freezer as the parts were difficult to obtain and that the contractor would place an order straight away for delivery asap. That was over 2 weeks ago and, in that time, we were promised delivery 3 times and 3 times we were let down - The appliance was finally delivered yesterday with no apology or reason for the delay from the contractor.
This complete debacle would be frustrating enough for anyone, but my mother is 81 next month: she lives alone: has arthritis in her hands and feet - along with having had part of her lung removed last year, following a diagnosis of cancer - and suffers from COPD. The regular trips she had to make to the shops, for nearly a month, have been extremely tiring, stressful and mentally draining for her, not to mention the extra money she’s had to spend for fresh food! - I don’t live near my mother, so am unable to help regularly and when I’ve called to hear her crying, saying she can’t cope, it is most frustrating and upsetting.
It is unfortunate that I have had to resort to expressing myself online, but I have now sent 2 emails to FH over the past week, firstly to ask for some kind of compensation from the landlord for the extra expense my mother has incurred because of the delay, and secondly to voice my utter dissatisfaction with the lack of customer service, care or consideration that has been given to my mother and her situation, and I have not received a reply!!
It should be a matter of priority for Farrell Heyworth to ensure they have efficient contractors able to address tenants needs as quickly as possible, and that certainly has not been the case with this issue. I could have ordered and arranged for Curry’s to fit a new fridge freezer in a matter of days, so why this contractor couldn’t purchase the same sooner is completely beyond me. The service my mother has received from this company and their contractor is utterly appalling and not acceptable. They shouldn’t be allowed to trade considering how they treat their customers!!

Not allowed to view a property

Rang up this morning to arrange a viewing of a property only to be told that we can't until we have either a sale agreed on ours or cash in the bank.

To put this in context, the house we live in now was our third choice but as we couldn't view the first 2 as they were for sale with this agent, we ended up here.

We are in the lucky position that where we live, houses sell within days and due to bereavement, we won't need a mortgage but it seems that this just isn't good enough.

I seriously wonder how they are still in business and do the vendors know how many viewings they don't get?

It's not like we were messing around, we need to move into a bungalow as I'm disabled and even have the boxes to pack our things!

Totally ignored

Phoned up the Preston branch to book a viewing of a property I’m interested in buying and they didn’t get back to me. TWICE. So I decided to go round to the house to tell the seller that they should probably use a different estate agent. The lady actually told me that she hadn’t been told at all. I’m sure they’ll blame it on being busy, but if any potential sellers are reading this then I would advise you to use a more competent agency.

I would give no stars if possible

I would give no stars if possible. I would not buy or sell through farrell heyworth ever again. I sold a property through the Cleveleys branch and it's been a terrible experience. I know some of it wasn't their fault as such but communication was shockingly bad. Even dealing with the branch manager for me absolutely no where. An empty house that had no chain and an investment buyer took 6 months.
Their fees are also way over what other estate agents charge and so I expected much better service. Avoid, avoid , avoid!

Shocking Customer Service

Attempted to use Farrell Heyworth for rental properties in the Preston area, completed personal detail forms, being offered first refusal on a property which was yet to be listed. After numerous chasing up emails, nothing in return. If you are desperate for a rental (Soon to be homeless or otherwise) do not use Farrell Heyworth as their customer service is shocking, they will not get back to you. Wasted 3 days of our precious time.

Absolutely useless…

Absolutely useless…. I used their recommended solicitors Curtis Law (who are also absolutely useless).
It took them 6 months to complete the sale of my house. They never called me back , they only ever did anything if I rang them up and said “ have you done this yet , when is this going to happen etc etc . They have a Sales progression team .. who did absolutely nothing unless I rang them and asked them to… . They are so so bad it’s ridiculous.. do not use this firm to sell your house ..

Director replied 4 months after my complaint

Got a reply from a Director, Jeremy Collins, almost 4 months after my Trustpilot review, he obviously could not give a damn and doesn't know how to handle dissatisfied customers. He has not not addressed or replied to my complaint. Still didn't offer a viewing on the half million pound property I enquired about that is STILL up for sale. Just HILARIOUS. Definitely , the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. They have a" couldn't care less" very arrogant attitude. 96% of customers are dissatisfied with the way their enquiry was handled. Staff lie, lie and lie again!!!! Just unbelievable.
