Very complicated/impossible to set up. Customer service are not helpful at all. Expensive fees every month. I do not recommend this product

Customer service is non existent.

Customer service is non existent.

They had a sale, and I signed up with them again. They were all right the first time, but they are brain dead now. I've emailed and asked for support, they wanted my ESN and Customer Number, which I supplied. That's the last I heard from them. When the contract is up, I'm ditching this product because my safety is more important than their profits.

SPOT needs a class action lawsuit against them.

Friend of the family crashed her vehicle during winter in a remote rural area. Findmespot received the call and the receiving employee looked at a satellite map of the area. Seeing a few structures nearby, they determined (on their own) that it was a false alarm and didn't investigate any further, notify anyone, or send help. This sort of situation could very easily turn from a simple accident into lethal territory for the victim if they depend on this "emergency" service in subzero temps and I have no faith in the training of their employees and can't recommend this company for their purported services. Luckily things turned out eventually with no help from Spot. Please show you care about you or your employees lives, pick a reliable company and not these (for lack of a better word) amateurs.

This person was using this service in an area that SPOT purportedly covers, and yet could have died in this situation. SPOT needs a class action lawsuit against them.

Bogus rebate offer

I bought this device last December and they were running a 50% off promotional rebate. I submitted the rebate form, the receipt, and all needed documents. Never heard back from them. Inquired and was told that I had to provide them with the ESN. I did that. Then I had to provide them with the name of the store I bought from. Then I was asked to provide them with the receipt, which I sent to them 5 months ago. Then they told me they won't give me a rebate. This is a BOGUS deal, and they have sham customer service. After 5 months and many communications with them, they just respond with sorry, we won't give you a rebate??? I won't be going with this company ever again!!

Forget about FindMeSpot.com

Hi, I am in Zambia now, solo travelling on motorcycle. Just had to change my plans, because I will not ride away from populated area without chance that somebody will look for me, if...
Basic functions work from time to time, custom don't at all.
No answers for e-mails, site is not responding in reasonable time (if responding).
I made a mistake buying spot device and paying for the service they are not able to deliver. This is not a company you can trust. Forget it.
Regards, Robert

Not reliable. Not honest business.

I bought two spot traces with 50% rebates in July 2017, but sofar I haven't received it. Checked the website, it indicates one rebate was declined and one was mailed one month ago, but that is only 25% off. Sent several emails without result.

Then the service. The best trace you can set is every 5 minutes but they can not even fullfill this promise. Often times they only reported part of the trace, like today I saw my car started moving, on the road, then there is no more trace, I don't know where did my car stopped.

SPOT should really change their pricing policies

SPOT should really change their pricing policies, the auto renewel without any notice and the increased prices. There is a lack of and unclear communication online and through e-mail. This is so important especially when dealing with international customers where people might be used to different laws and rules. When i found out my credit card was debeted I called and SPOT did refund in the end, gladly. But this is just not the way to go. Also the service itself, i have been on places SPOT couldn't get out a SMS (usually in forests)... Gladly i didn't have to use the SOS service...

FIndmespot traps people on fear.

I also concur to spot service being fairly of bad quality, from localisation to customer service.
Also their unilateral change in price is abusive, and inconsistent with the rescue/security mindset that they are supposed to service.
They are playing on fear to force their price change in. I am out of the spot constellation now and will never come back.
Geos insurance they propose, although they don't service it is also crap.
They don't do their best to follow on the local rescue contact. They contact and once it is done they don't follow up.
Rescue operations are dependant on local operators, and national laws.
Many countries have none to nill service and forbid any foreign operations to rescue you.
I use Airglacier a swiss rescue insurance that works abroad from switzerland, for swiss residents. a lot more reliable also 24/7 manned.

DO NOT BUY - HERE'S WHY

DO NOT BUY - HERE'S WHY

2 things: the GPS unit has bad service. It does not update on a regular basis at all. It will show the GPS location hours after the unit has left that particular location. I used this unit in conjunction with two other GPS brands and SPOT failed miserably. The other two units: Spytec and Linuxup were spot on and awesome. By comparison, SPOTtrace was awful. You could not rely on SPOTtrace's location at all.

Secondly, when I tried to cancel service, Customer Service said I was under a 12-month contract and they could not and would not cancel it. Mario and Susan in customer service would only offer to credit me 3 months but I still had to complete the 12 month contract. Unacceptable. The other two services: Spytec and Linxup cancelled me right away over the phone. In addition, this SPOTtrace unit was the most expensive of the 3 I used. Take my advice, DO NOT BUY SPOTtrace and go with Spytec or Linxup. You can email me questions at chadmautheatgmail.com for further questions..

Absolutely horrible customer service

Absolutely horrible customer service! They auto-renewed without my permission. Not only that they increased the price from $149 to $214. I called them 9 days after it went through and they told me that I need to call within 7 days. RUN, don't walk away from this horrible company!!

Findmespot's latest price hikes

I have subscribed to Findmespot's services for several years now and fortunately never had to push the SOS button. The annual charges had risen year on year but they were fairly acceptable until this year when they decided to bundle an optional extra tracking susbscription which costs 55 EUR (before tax) into the main annual subscription without any communication and not updating their website with the new price structure. I challenged their customer services about this and after far too many emails where they kept contradicting each other no-one could give me a straight answer as to how my recent bill was being calculated (and the one line description on the bill gave no indication) and I asked for someone to call me. After chasing them for several weeks to call me I finally received a call and the situation was explained to me. When I said that I didn't want the tracking functionality I was told that I could not be offered a refund on the current years subscription but they would offer me a refund of 55 EUR off next year's subscription. Who knows what they'll have decided to add to that without telling anyone or updating their website so I asked them to cancel my subscription at the end of the current term. Don't forget to check that they haven't accidentently billed you the following year if you do. My research in the market is showing that their competitors products are not only significantly cheaper but also have a lot more functionality. Hope this helps.
