I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with First Class Watches and would strongly advise caution when ordering high-value items.

I purchased a Swarovski necklace worth nearly £500, which I never received. The parcel was delivered by DPD to the wrong address (house number 21 instead of my address, number 23), despite my DPD account clearly stating that parcels must not be left with neighbours.

DPD themselves later confirmed that this was a mistake and that the parcel should never have been delivered to a neighbour. The delivery photo also shows the item being handed to an unknown individual at a different property.

Throughout this process, the seller repeatedly acknowledged that the item had been delivered to the neighbour, not to me. I checked with that address, and they confirmed they do not have the parcel.

What is most frustrating is that I was initially told that a claim with DPD had already been opened. However, after weeks of getting nowhere through PayPal Buyer Protection, I contacted DPD directly and was informed that no such claim had been properly progressed at the time. When I asked the seller again to raise it, I was then told it was too late.

As a result, I am now left without the item and without the money I paid.

This situation could likely have been resolved much earlier if the correct steps had been taken from the beginning. Instead, I have had to spend significant time chasing this issue with no resolution.

Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend thinking carefully before purchasing expensive items, as I did not feel that responsibility was taken when something went wrong.

UPDATE - 22 May 2026: > Following a formal police investigation into this missing £500 parcel, Cheshire Constabulary has confirmed to us today that they have spoken to the neighbour, who successfully handed the parcel over following the delivery. The customer has also confirmed to the police that they have now located the item. The police have closed their investigation and we are delighted that the goods have been safely accounted for.

We are extremely sorry for the frustration and distress this situation has caused. We successfully deliver thousands of high-value items each year without issue, but we are genuinely sorry that this has affected your order and left you feeling disappointed.

Please be assured that we take your concerns very seriously and are not ignoring the matter. We have officially reopened the investigation with our delivery contractor and DPD to look into the delivery to your neighbour, and to understand why your specific delivery preferences were not followed by their driver.

Unfortunately, we do not get this level of visibility regarding your personal DPD address preferences. While in most cases neighbours accept items without issue, the handover is always GPS logged and photographic evidence is taken, which has been shared with you.

We are actively pursuing this with the courier and will reach out to you directly as soon as we have a substantive update. Thank you for your patience while we work through this.
