Falsified Loan Application, Retaliation, and No Accountability!!!!
I submitted a loan application with First Tech Federal Credit Union in May 2025. Despite providing my accurate tax records and employment status as a self-employed hairstylist, the loan officer falsified key information—listing me as part-time, employed at a salon (which I am not), and inflating my income.
I was not allowed to review the application before it was submitted, and only received a copy after filing federal complaints. The discrepancies were blatant, yet First Tech provided no meaningful response, no correction, and no accountability.
To make matters worse, BBB misclassified my complaint and marked it as “resolved,” even though I submitted documentation showing ongoing harm and retaliation. This was not a billing issue—it was fraudulent misrepresentation, data misuse, and a clear violation of consumer protection laws.
This experience has shown me how easily businesses can weaponize policy and procedure against marginalized individuals—especially when oversight agencies fail to act.
If you’re self-employed, Black, or part of a vulnerable community, I urge caution. First Tech’s practices are not just negligent—they are structurally harmful. This review stands as part of my public record and ongoing legal action.

Long story short the care and consideration to rectify a clerical error, alongside patience and professionalism of the staff here my daughter and I were able to keep our home. Today I was able to face to face thank Cathy for her efforts, which ultimately secured my opportunity to proceed with a loan modification. I can't say enough...Thank You First Tech... and from the bottom of our hearts thank you Cathy!!!!

My loan officer Nichole was very nice to talk with, she was fine but the rest of your company not so much. Seems very disorganized, the right hand doesn't seem to know what the left hand is doing, your Professionalism needs some work, my approval was fast but nothing else was, in fact I am a little pissed off because it took two friggen weeks plus to get this all done. It was around x-mas but that is just one day. I did everything I was asked to do. It took so long that my rate went up even though the Fed had just lowered them again. She couldn't explain how that happens and kind blew it off, I didn't because FT took so long I ended up paying a higher rate then I was quoted and different from my first set of paperwork. When I first called it was 6.29% by the time you guys got done making me come back several times my rate went to 7.1%. That's a big difference and I am not happy about this. Why would you do that to a new customer and not do anything about it or even try and fix it. This is NOT very good customer service. I may end up finding someone else here in the near future, if you fix this then I may be OK. In fact I had to print a form you guys sent me today and take it down to the branch, Power of Attorney for pay off which seems odd since I checked and it has been paid off already. Not sure how that works, seems a little odd like several things with FT. At this point I will NOT be recommending you to anyone I know.

Had to replace my debit card after it was compromised. Instead of waiting 7-10 days for a new card to be sent to me, I went into a local Salem branch. The branch representative was able to create me a replacement card quickly so I could immediately have one, instead of waiting a week or more. I am always impressed with First Tech and their representatives, whatever services I need. Friendly customer service and efficiency have been the norm over the decades I have been a customer. First Tech Credit Union, simply the best!

What makes my experience great is the people. Alejandra did an outstanding job of helping me in a number of transactions I had to make. You also have a real gem in Venessa. I have dealt with her often over the years and have not found a more friendly and helpful person. All your staff, I feel, go out of their way to be helpful. Your business model makes banking easy and this comes from experience dealing with other financial institutes.
