A refund credit note is NOT the only…

A refund credit note is NOT the only option, if you look at the ABTA web site you are entitled to full cash refund for which I am struggling to get from Fleetway, so what's the point of ABTA !

Sorry Fleetway - won't be booking holidays with you again!

Have had several holidays with FleetwayTravel/Secret Escapes. Were due to go to Corfu on 15 May for a holiday booked with Fleetway Travel. Was booked and paid in full in June 2019 so they have had our money for nearly 11 months! I received the email confirming it had been cancelled with the Refund Credit Note option. Declined this and was sent another generic email basically saying RCN is all they are offering not a cash refund until December 2021.
Looked at the option of booking the original holiday destination later in the year (late September) with a 60% increase in the cost. Just not viable.
Contacted my insurance company. Told to go back to Fleetway again.
Contacted my Credit Card company and awaiting information on a chargeback or Section 75. Have more hope with the CC company rather than Insurance Co. Have registered a complaint with the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). Won't be using Fleetway again for travel when this Coronavirus Crisis is over.

Another angry customer......

Another angry customer....... they cancel holiday but will not give me a refund despite asking many times. They keep replying that they will only give a voucher which if I do not use by end December 2021 then I can apply for refund.....WTH, 2 years to wait until I can get a refund!!!! Joke of a company. They do not even deserve the 1 star rating but I could not post otherwise.....

Fleetway, don't like criticism so let's keep posting it

This fiasco with Fleetway seems to be…
This fiasco with Fleetway seems to be gathering a pace with so many people telling the same story of a company refusing to accept that they have a "duty by law" to fully refund customers money if the holiday they paid for is cancelled.
What is wrong with Fleetway? can't they see that the longer they go down this route of offering credit notes or ignoring their customers that nobody will trust them? They are creating so much bad publicity that I fear they either stump up and do the honorable thing and refund clients money now!! or they will just go bust. I have registered a complaint with the CMA as should every body who is being treated in this despicable way

Illegal Behaviour

I too have had an awful experience with Fleetway Travel.

Me and my partner we due to go to Vietnam and Cambodia last month. Fleetway cancelled the holiday and told us to contact our travel insurer. The insurer wont offer us anything as in line with the travel package regulations 2018 Fleetway should offer us a refund.

As per the CMA guidance that has recently been issued, a refund should be issued if a business has cancelled a contract without providing any of the promised goods or services.

What Fleetway travel is doing is illegal, they cant offer someone a service and not follow through with this. It is time they got their act together.

My emails (20+) now date back to 17th March with Fleetway as I’m sure many others too. I have requested a specific reply to the question ‘Are you going to give cash refund as per current legislation?’ rather than the generic response they churn out. Guess what - no reply. Without this we can’t move on to use travel insurance, chargeback, section 75 etc, which I don’t believe we should even need to. Reported to CMA today (just google). A useful site for what’s happening in travel at moment is travel weekly.co.uk.

Thieving Liars and Despicable People

Would give a minus score if I could. I have complained every day by email to Fleetway and have put in a complaint to every legal entity I can think of, just hoping that quantity of complaints might get a result. ABTA and ATOL are absolutely useless. EVERYONE should be complaining to CMA as they are the government Watchdog with powers to investigate and enforce, so if anyone has not complained you need to do it now. In this instance quantity will matter. I have reported Fleetway to Companies House, as they have to be registered there to trade. I have also reported them to the Insolvency Service. I have also reported them to Action Fraud as they are breaking the law. If as Fleetway say, they don't have funds to refund everyone, then they are bankrupt under Company Law and therefore must stop trading. We all know they have our money and don't want to give it back. I have checked and they are worth millions with 3 other huge companies they own, Fleetway Aviation, Travelsmart Technologies and Travelsmart Holdings. Companies House the Insolvency Service and Action Fraud, can pursue them for fraud, if they are misleading customers by saying they don't have the funds to refund when in fact they do. I have also contacted my MP, everyone should do that, as only the government will be able to force them to refund us. My MP has written to the government about this.
I HAVE HAD TO AMEND MY REVIEW because Fleetway Travel COMPLAINED that I had identified the actual people who have stolen your money, which I did, but I know hundreds of people have already seen it. They steal our money then complain when they are identified as common thieves! These people are the lowest of the low. One of them, I can't use his job title in case it identifies him, but one of the thieves who has stolen your money, has a FB account and an Instagram account where you can see all the photos of him, enjoying spending your money. The other thief has his fingers in a number of pies. He was involved with Monarch airlines & holidays and they went bust, he was also involved with Avro Aviation Ltd and they went bust, so he has a track record. Isn't it good to know that they are busy checking out all the VERY BAD reviews about Fleetway, rather than processing our refunds.
Anyone can find out who they are by searching on COMPANIES HOUSE website, it's free. Don't sit back and do nothing. The more complaints the more chance of success sooner than later. UPDATE - the Government Transport Select Committee, which you can find on the parliament website, is now investigating and I have been in touch with them about Fleetway, you should all do the same and the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has had so many complaints they have announced they will be prosecuting companies who refuse cash refunds. If you haven't already, complain to CMA online. It's easy and quick and you will get your money back, otherwise these disgusting people will keep your money. GOOD LUCK!

Customers wronged- No consumer rights with Fleetway

I was informed by Fleetway via e-mail that they pride themselves on being a consumer centric business. I don't think they know the meaning of this statement.
I have had 2 holidays cancelled by Fleetway and they are refusing to give me a refund.
They tell me the quickest route to get a refund is via my insurers, even though It is not the insurers responsibility, and Fleetway know this. I have sent Fleetway a letter from my insurers outlining this.
Fleetway quote ABTA. ABTA is a trade body and not the law. Fleetway are totally ignoring my consumer rights, their own terms and conditions and are breaking the law by not giving me a refund. They want me to accept a refund voucher with a date of December 2021 for return of my money if I have not booked another holiday with them. I do not want to book another holiday with Fleetway, due to their mis-handling of this fiasco, and do not want to bail them out until December 2021, Consumer rights mean nothing to this company, their own terms and conditions are worthless, staff attitude on the phone very poor and condescending, and e-mails sent to them go unanswered.. On the phone the Fleetway representative denied all responsibility for a refund. When I quoted my legal rights, she told me to get in touch with my insurers and if they didn't refund, to ask them to issue a letter stating this. I was told to e-mail this to them, and they would relook at it. I spent 3.5 hours on the phone getting through to my insurers. My insurer issued a letter which I e-mailed to Fleetway and they have ignored.
No insurer that I am aware of are covering for Covid-19 on new holiday bookings, so why would anyone take the risk of booking another holiday? Even more so with a company that are unwilling to comply with consumer rights and the law.
I would have been amenable to waiting a reasonable amount of time for a refund (but not until December2021) had Fleetway dealt with this matter in a truthful and fair manner. Using buzzwords that they don't know or understand the meaning of, and putting their business needs first and foremost means that I would not put my trust, or money,in them again.

Not everyone can afford to wait For Fleetway.

Some contributors have been generous in their attitude towards Fleetway’s behaviour. We, too, have been offered a refund credit note for our cancelled Corfu holiday. We do not want to book another holiday but think it is presumptuous of Fleetway to assume that most people can afford to wait until the end of December 2021 (that’s 20 months away!) in the hope that they will have the money to refund us. If they don’t, we then have the hassle of claiming from ABTA/ATOL. Fortunately we have been able to claim on Mastercard but not everyone will be in the same position.

Updated Review.

We have now received our Refund Credit Note for our cancelled holiday to Corfu. I received a very pleasant telephone call from Fleetways Customer Relations Manager on Monday morning and she explained that Fleetway had started work on issuing RCNs. True to her word we received a Refund Credit Note to the value of our booking valid to 31/12/2021, with the ATOL certificate and a copy of our original booking late on Tuesday evening. I can now understand Fleetways position and we feel comfortable that our money is fully protected either to book another holiday or guaranteed by ATOL if Fleetway was to cease trading. I would not have any concerns using Fleetway for future holiday bookings.

Just like everyone here

Just like everyone here, Fleetway are refusing to issue my legally required refund for my package holiday that they cancelled in March. I have emailed many times regarding a refund and was being sent generic unhelpful emails. Since writing a review on here for Secret Escapes (holiday booked via), Fleetway have offered a credit note, which I have declined as I am entitled to a refund.
I have logged this with CMA and ATOL.

File A complaint with the CMA

Same as all the other customers. No calls, no emails and no cancellation from Fleetway. But we are scheduled to depart 5/5/2020. I too have filed a complaint with the Competition and Markets Authority.

Fleetway silence

I have been very patient. I have waited and waited. I expected to be emailed saying my holiday was cancelled and these are your options. Nothing. Surely a standard email can be produced to this effect.
Finally I emailed them after the holiday should have started. No response.
Like others I have been to the CMA website and reported them.

I have booked a few holidays with this…

I have booked a few holidays with this company which were great but now due to covid 19 I've tried to phone them regarding my holiday may,now to say there experiencing high call volumes is not true as wee all will get the same message over the phone to go to there website,I've since done this and I'm in disbelief! No personal email from them only to find out that on the 16th april they have cancelled all holidays until the 31st may and offering a credit note,I'm sorry Fleetway travel,I'm having a full refund and WILL make sure I do get it,this is against the law what you are doing,if you cancel our holiday you have 14 days to refund us,I have no faith in you as a company, how can you expect us the people to trust you in the future, when you treat us like this !

Less then one star service

It's a shame I can't review less than one star. Over the last six years, I've had around 4 package holidays with Fleetway and never had a problem. As with most people on here, my holiday to Croatia was cancelled. An email was sent to me explaining my options. Knowing that the company is legally obliged to refund me in full, I went back saying a credit note was not adequate. The same email was sent back to me again explaining my options. Luckily, I have travel insurance and have started that process of review. It is terrible how they are treating their customers holding on to our money.
