Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 57 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people found the website to be broken, slow, and full of glitches, making it difficult to navigate and use effectively. Customers also reported significant issues with their accounts, including unexpected deletions and problems with accessing their photos and profiles. The subscription model was a major point of frustration, with many feeling harassed to buy a Pro account only to experience a decline in service, such as frozen view numbers and increased ads. Some people were dissatisfied with the product itself, noting that the quality had declined and that the platform allowed inappropriate content like avatars instead of real photographs. Conversely, a small portion of people felt the site was easy to use and great for organizing and curating photos, appreciating features like multi-album and collection grouping.

Not at all happy with major price…

Not at all happy with major price increases and no notification. Massive increase last year ( close to doubling the subscription) and again this year moving up another 50%. Sneakily changed from annual
billing to monthly reducing the apparent amount and hoping I wouldn’t notice. Tried to cancel through the browser on the phone but the cancel button mysteriously didn’t work. It did work online on my PC.

Flickr is still, by far, the best place to store and share hi-res images.

Flickr is still, by far, the best place to store and share hi-res images. I have used it as my primary image service for over 15 years, and it served me reliably for most of that time. After a few years of Yahoo mismanagement, it is now owned by SmugMug, a small photography company. They make money from photographers, not ads. Most importantly, they are not part of the Tech Bubble.

Most of the reviews here at Trustpilot are from those unfortunate souls who ran into some kind of problem with Flickr. Not to diminish their experience, but what you don’t see here are the thousands of users who joyfully use Flickr every day.

Daftest customer services policy

I cannot believe this service is still so popular. I have worked as a professional photographer for 13 years and posted an album with some mediocre pics under my name on Flickr in the years before that. The account was in my full name. I lost the credentials to that account and then got tangled up in the move to Yahoo in ways I have never understood. A Google image search on my name kept returning that little portfolio extremely highly ranked. The short story is, that their customer services have never wanted to close that account, not even (here it comes:) after I sent them the original RAW files to the files they had online of me! After years and years (!) of corresponding with exceedingly daft CS reps, I finally managed to get the email/password combo right and deleted my account.

I think I have just been ripped…

I think I have just been ripped off, they splurged with a banner add on the site to renew now at a discount and so I did but the anniversary of the renewal is now February with a years payment, that's fine but they seem not to have taken into account my annual renewal at full price was back in November....errrrrm surely as that was also paid for up front there is something extremely dodgy going on here unless I am being dumb in which case I apologise. Anyone in the UK had the same thought?

Don't like it anymore

I was happy until the changes came in and almost all of my photos got deleted.. Luckily there are better sites to use than this. Not going to give them any money. Also because of changes community has died.

This site takes an eternity load

This site takes an eternity load, and when you go inside the photo you have selected you just find out that the owner of the photo has disabled the download option(you dont find out until you are going to download it) and again it is a very very very very.......... slow site.
i would absolutely advise you not to go to flickr.com.
thank you

ABSOLUTE SCUM OF A COMPANY.

ABSOLUTE SCUM OF A COMPANY.

Promised me 1 TB of photo storage which I linked to my web site.

THEN all of a sudden they " pulled the plug " and broke their promise which resulted in me having to spend HOURS to transfer my photos to
Google & Facebook.

BE WARNED. DO NOT TRUST FLIKR with any storage promises.

They ruined my web site and destroyed hours that I had spent uploading photos to their cloud.

AN ABSOLUTELY DESPICABLE ORGANISATION !

Flickr do NOT want new customers

After a friend shared loads of photos here I thought I'd create an account and take a look at them. I attempted multiple times to create an account but it always failed after verifying my email address. I checked their FAQ and resorted to logging a call with support. After 2 days I got response stating that I am too risky! I've never known a company that doesn't want new customers.

Actual response:

Our systems identified your account and signup details as ‘risky’ and out of an abundance of caution, closed the account. We reviewed the information per your request and are unable to approve you to open a Flickr account.

Watch out for Flickr!

Many friends I had on Flickr with Pro accounts suddenly disappeared from Flickr about a year ago. Their paid account was deleted.
Last week, my account had been deleted as well.

Don’t pay Flickr, it’s money waste.
Don’t trust Flickr, they suddenly trash all your files.

I would not reccomend paying for a pro…

I would not reccomend paying for a pro account.

Save your photos to a hard drive/s.

As far as I can see, nothing has been improved as they said will be.

It is very sluggish to use, like walking in puddles with water-logged shoes and socks.

Flickr have deleted my account but will…

Flickr have deleted my account but will not tell me why, yet all I had posted was my own scenic pictures from where I live. It shamefull that a company such as Flickr can do this with no warning and explanation is beyond me. The official response makes you feel that you have done something really bad when in fact you have not. Where are the helpfull staff? I gather that when they say not at liberty to discuss specifics means thay have not got a clue.
Hi there,

Appalling service

I am unable to login to my Flickr account since receiving an email saying that my subscription had been paid and was valid until January 2020. I cannot get a password reset as when I try it states my email is not valid. I have five years worth of photos on the Flickr servers and have paid for a service I am unable to use. The worst thing is that I have tried to contact Flickr directly by email using their Help form half a dozen times over the last few weeks and have received no reply. I understand there might be some kind of issue, but to not reply when I'm apparently some kind of special Pro member (which I've paid for!) really gets me angry.

1* is generous - private is not so private

I joined Flickr in 2012. When the site was owned and operated by Yahoo it was great. I always paid as a pro member and used the service primarily as a backup for my photos. 35,000 images, mainly set to private (as I don't want holiday snaps, pics of my kids, etc drifting around the internet) and could happily share a few pics with family members or friends if I so desired.
As I'm a keen amateur photographer, I kept around 1500 photos public to show off as I also enjoyed the social aspect of the site.
Flickr was bought out earlier in 2019 and is now owned by SmugMug. They changed servers earlier in the year resulting in downtime for certain features, which have never been brought back online. It's been several months since I saw the fantastic "Camera Roll" feature that I used regularly to sort the photos out. The servers seem slower to process information and the whole site a lot more clunky.
However, I'm absolutely moving away from them after I discovered that some very intimate photos of my partner were sitting on my public feed despite being set to private. Deleted them from the site altogether, but somehow anyone (embarrasingly including family or friends looking at linked photos from Facebook) looking at my public profile could still see them and the view count below the pics kept going up. Deleted all public photos now which seems to have removed them from view, and I will be moving to another platform as soon as I've downloaded all my data. Will not be back. Avoid at all costs. :-(

Flickr Trust & Safety staff Michael…

Purge of Different Voices without Any Proof of Violation provided

Flickr Trust & Safety staff Michael Hoffman is recently deleting and blocking free account users without any communications, any precautions, any explanations, and any factual proofs. It is a clear violation of freedom of expression and the worst kind of customer service which typical in these US tech giants. A bad example of uncivilised behaviour.

First of all, deletion and blocking with no precautions, no communications, no explanations, no factual proofs shown for users are fundamental problems like what Flickr Trust & Safety staff Michael Hoffman recently so eagerly doing for his own individual interests and performance evaluation at the company.

Their typically biased censorship and forcing measures against its users and consumers are violating human rights. The worst kind of customer service is also done by this kind of staff Michael Hoffman.

Many victims of this kind of terrible corporate acts must place your complaints publicly and if possible victims should file a law suit against Flickr Trust & Safety staff Michael Hoffman and Flicker.
Beside this problematic groundless censorship and its forcible measures against users and different voices, there is also more serious concern about their use of uploaded photos for facial recognition surveillance without any permissions.

Like Mr. Paul Reynolds wrote here, Flicker Trust & Safety staff Michael Hoffman sends victims templated emails without any proof of violations, any detailed information and any communication.

His templated email which is the proof of the worst kind of customer service below:

It only proved that Flicker needs civilised behaviour as one of tech companies. Highly not recommended.
