just had our bathroom refurbished by fords have to say what a fabulous job Julian did for us so pleased.He arrived each day on time and left everything so tidy in the eve .
He was a pleasure to have as a workman so professional in his work .

Booked up Fords for a Gas landlord certificate on LPG boiler and to look at a fault on coal effect LPG burner. Chap turned up on time and had a look at the fire, the fault did seem to point towards a thermocouple fault which Fords had replaced a few years ago, so the chap said that he would order a new one and leave the landlord check until he came back in a couple of weeks with the part which was fine. He returned with the thermocouple and fitted it but the same fault was still there, he spent a bit of time cleaning the pilot assembly as the pilot light looked rather weak and obviously not enough flame to heat the thermocouple, but no joy with that. The next step would to be replacing the pilot assembly to which I said leave us to think about it for the time being. He then did the landlord check on the boiler and went on his way. Now I do understand that fault finding is not always straightforward but I received a bill for the whole job of £248.71 of which £192.47 was for the fire repair that was still not working, this included 2 hours labour on the fire. I did call and got the labour charge reduced to one hour which brought the cost down to £141.47 which was reflected the time spent more accurately. I now have to decide whether to carry on with the replacement pilot assembly and keep fingers crossed that will cure it, but of course with a second bill for that the total cost will no doubt hit £300 with no guarantee it will work, and if it does there will be another £86.40 for the landlord check on the fire. I have no complaints about the chap doing the job, he was pleasant and followed a programme of fault finding, I just think that sometimes when you get a job like this one that you have to be a bit more fair to the customer and not make the same charge as you would from a successful job compared to an unsuccessful job like mine.
I have have used Fords in the past and had no problems, not sure I will use them again though. I think 3* is pretty fair under the circumstances.
Very nice people to do business with. The order was handled very efficiently and we were offered a number of dates when the heaters could be installed. The installers arrived promptly on the agreed date. They were very polite and efficient, cleaning up at each stage of the installation. The duration of work was as agreed and there were no nasty surprises.
Staff always turn up at the arranged time, generally do a good job and are always polite and friendly

The engineer arrived on time, as requested and set about servicing the boiler. He was considerate in using slip-over shoe protection to protect carpets and was neat and tidy in his work. A fault was identified with a TRV and / or associated pipework and I now wait for a proposal for a magnetic sludge trap. It is about 5 - 6 years since the system was power-flushed and inhibitors added.

It was only due a very professional and patient member of staff that my issues with Fords was resolved satisfactorily. I was very disappointed with the work but the staff with the exception of one were always polite and courteous. They were very busy and I think with hindsight the job should have been delayed to ensure continuity and then the problems may never have occurred.

Engineers very good for Annual Service, and emergency repairs.
Have saved money on new parts with Fords insurance.
Office staff efficient when booking services.
Poor quality waste products supplied for high cost bathroom refurbishment, quickly corroded.
High costs added to repair damage caused during dismantling of original bathroom and kitchen.

I was very disappointed by the poor service I received with regard to work on my bathroom, in fact I eventually asked another firm to do the work. I was surprised by this as when I needed a new boiler Fords could not have been more helpful, the work was of a high standard and the staff worked hard to minimise the disruption.

Visited on Saturday morning to buy a few odds and ends from the trade counter. Knew that Tom and Steve don't work Saturdays so was prepared for possibility that would have to come back during week. Not so! Staff were very helpful and I got everything I needed.

Boiler Service.....very shocked at the price of a gas boiler service and Landlords Certificate, especially after finding out from the Tenants that they had called Fords out the month before as the boiler was not working, and was repaired under warranty.
