Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 65 reviews, most reviewers had an average experience overall. Many customers express significant dissatisfaction with the company's subscription and payment practices, frequently reporting automatic renewals without prior notification. This often leads to unexpected charges, and people find it difficult to obtain refunds for these unwanted renewals, even when the app hasn't been used. Some consumers feel the company relies on customers forgetting about renewals and then hides behind non-refundable policies, which they perceive as anti-consumer. However, some customers also noted positive aspects regarding the app itself. Many users appreciate the app's effectiveness, finding it helpful for fitness goals and consistent training. People describe the app as intuitive, with clear exercise videos and engaging workouts that adapt to their needs. Some reviewers even consider the app fantastic and have used it religiously for extended periods.

Not Flexible.

I tried Freeletics as its main selling point is flexibility and adaptability. I have weights at home, dumbbells, barbell, bench etc. Unfortunately when you select the Barbell Journey, a pull up bar is mandatory equipment. I have nearly everything but a pull up bar and you can’t deselect it and you can’t substitute other back exercises. There are several journeys that require a pull up bar which a lot of people don’t have. Also there is nothing that incorporates dumbbells and barbells, it’s one or the other. If the AI is so clever why can’t it produce a program that incorporates all the equipment you have or want to use? Also most workouts are roughly an hour. If you’re a bit short of time and want to change the workout length the only option is to shorten to15 minutes. What if I have 30 or 45 mins?
Freeletics may be great for body weight training, but for training at home with weights I shall look elsewhere.

I absolutely loved this app but…

I absolutely loved this app but unfortunately I was also the one that felt scammed with subscription. I was gonna have a surgery and didn't want to renew the substriction because of that but have a break. I checked and nothing in the app said it was gonna renew. The app only said the date when the current subscription is running out, which was really misleading. I thought I had cancelled it because of it until I got billed. And ofc didn't get my money back and couldn't use the app because of recovery time. It's really a shame that a good application is ruined by something like this. I also reported a technical problem, but it hasn't been fixed even after a year.

I would actually like to give this…

I would actually like to give this company zero. I subscribed because they offered me a half price deal which I thought was worth a try. I didn’t enjoy the sessions - it’s just watching an avatar. There is no motivation - it’s just boring. I was shocked therefore to find nearly £100 come out of my account for an automatic renewal. On the same day I asked them to refund my money as no email informing me of the upcoming payment had been sent and at no time did I agree to an auto- renewal. They have refused to give me a refund despite me hardly ever having used the app. It’s disgusting and I feel like I’ve been scammed. This sort of thing should be illegal.

Game-Changer Fitness Journey with Freeletics

Starting with Freeletics was a game-changer for my fitness routine. The personalized workout plans are challenging yet achievable, pushing me further than I thought possible. Plus, the community support is incredibly inspiring.

bad company-no respect-only money counts

They never notify you in case your payment is recurrent. They never answer your email through a real person, their robot is stupid as only a robot can be stupid. The intensity of the training, even when you explicitly mention that you may be in not that good condition, is much to high. Consequences are that using their app may result in getting injuries. No medical examination, probably their disclaimer excludes their responsibility on that point which is not fair because they are the experts, consummers aren't.

The best training app at the moment of…

The best training app at the moment of writing of this review (March 2024) with a large difference to competition.

After I learned that Adidas Training was shutting down, I started looking for alternatives for apps mostly focused on body-weight training. Many reviews were recommending Freeletics, so I decided to give it a try, after few unsuccessful tries with other popular alternatives. Freeletics turned out to be much more versitile and adaptive than I had thought, far beyond any competition.

Just try it!

Refusing to refund a subscription I've never used

I forgot to cancel the automatic renewal of my subscription, but never intended to renew it as I'm not using their service anymore. (Probably there was a hidden checkbox somewhere when subscribing)

As soon as my credit card got charged I got in touch with the company within minutes, but they refused to refund the transaction, so ended up paying for a whole year without using the product at all...

I’ve been a customer since 2017

I’ve been a customer since 2017. Clear, focused and increasingly flexible app accommodating all levels of fitness and equipment from full gym workouts to no equipment. Focus on functional strength. Very real results and progression. Highly recommended.

I have been using Freeletics for the last 5 years for now, for me was an amazing solution since I'm not a gym person and also when I get strict with the journeys I always get got results and improvements on my numbers.

Great app to get in shape

I really love the app and have really improved my overall health a lot using it.
The flexibility and clear guidance with the workouts is great.

Only recommendation I would have would be to have more calisthenics like workouts focusing on working out without equipment like I do that could really help build up more muscle.

AVOID - you will never stop paying!

Worst experience ever. I signed up and paid for a trial, and they led me to believe it is a one time payment. I ended my trial, did not opt in for extension, signed off the app and uninstalled it. Then - 3 years later I have found they kept charging me every 6 months - and more than that, never even send me an email to let me know I'm going to be charged/being charged. When I approached them, I got a laconic answer without any resolution.

Beware the dreaded auto subscription

Signed up to Freeletics with the best of intentions last January using an offer code.

The app is decent but ultimately I decided to go back to a gym and ultimately forgot all about the app.

Woke up this morning to a PayPal notification confirming £95 was to be debited from my account.

Got straight on to Freeletics support but was basically told that while they have cancelled the auto renewal moving forward, they will still take payment for the next 12 months as I hadn't cancelled in time.

I would recommend the App but not the business practices behind it. Based on other reviews on here, I'm not the first to get stung by the lack of notification re the impending auto renewal and probably won't be the last.

Poor and whilst the lack of notification is probably not illegal, it certainly feels unethical. Consumers should be given the choice to renew not have the onus placed on them to remember.
