Bad advice

Bad advice , very very expensive. Slow and drawn out to create further costs.

Excellent from start to finish (Gavin Scott/Alex Howarth)

Freeths assisted me with what seemed to me to be a fairly complex Housing/Cohabitation case, and have been outstanding from start to finish.

After phoning numerous law firms desperately trying to get assistance, and being told a huge range of dates/times weeks into the future, and lots of costs without even listening to my concerns, I luckily spoke with Gavin from Freeths who was patient, thorough and listened to every concern of mine. Speaking for over an hour totally free of charge, I felt so much better that I had the legal backing I needed with Freeths and they actually managed to settle many worries I had. Gavin definitely is an expert in this field and I would recommend him/Freeths to anyone.

After signing contracts, I was passed onto Alex Howarth who assisted me from start to finish in a friendly, professional and very knowledgable manner. She solved my issue much quicker than I ever imagined and was excellent throughout. Nothing was too much to ask, and I can't thank her enough.

I'm sure the two individuals mentioned reflect the service that all at Freeths provide, but from dealing with them only, I can honestly say I would use Freeths for anything I ever need personally in future and would recommend them to anyone. They may charge more than other firms, but it definitely is worth it, and you can see why.

Average, to poor and grossly expensive - pure greed. Avoid.

Sadly, what started out as good representation became below average at the hearing stage and then they surprised me with a bill for £22,000 - having initially quoted £12,000. When I complained, the solicitor was defensive and gave a dishonest account of their performance. I’ll pursue to the ombudsman - but a shame they are so greedy.

Data protection breach

My experience with Freeths LLP has been deeply troubling. I raised urgent concerns because I believe my personal and business information was shared without my permission, and the firm has still failed to provide any clear explanation or reassurance.

The complete lack of response since I reported this has left me extremely stressed and genuinely worried about where my information has ended up and who may have access to it. For a law firm of this size, their silence is shocking and incredibly unprofessional.

I have been left feeling exposed, anxious, and completely in the dark. The situation has caused significant distress, especially as this involves sensitive personal and business details.

It is very concerning that a firm entrusted with confidential matters can ignore something this serious. I no longer have any confidence in their ability to protect client information or handle complaints responsibly.

I strongly encourage anyone considering them to think carefully and be aware of how serious the consequences can be when concerns like this are not taken seriously.

Thank you for your feedback. We would like to clarify that you are not a client of Freeths however we do accept that there was a minor breach of the UK GDPR. Alex Haworth

I was very fortunate to have found Alex to act for me in my divorce. She listened carefully with kindness and understanding. Alex remained calm and reassuring throughout, keeping the focus on the best outcome for me, despite the tone and lengthy delays in responding from the other side. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

I found Gavin Scott after reading an article he’d written around managing divorce from narcissistic/controlling spouses. We subsequently had a call where he provided very useful and insightful support. He clearly understands that when faced with such difficulties, a completely different skill set and game plan is required to ‘manage’ the controlling individual to minimise impact on the impacted party. I would highly recommend Freeths for people facing similar situations.

Exceptional legal support with compassion

When I made the difficult decision to seek legal advice regarding clinical negligence following my maternity care experience, I came across an article by Katie Shaw and decided to reach out to her. From the very first conversation and throughout the entire process, Katie has been genuinely empathetic, understanding, and made a very challenging situation much easier to navigate.

I truly feel that Katie always acts in her clients’ best interests while also working to influence positive change in maternity care. She has been brilliant and has achieved the best outcome for me, which will help support my new future.

Thank you again, Katie.

Personal experience

Personal experience.

I am currently attempting to liaise with a "Mr Barry Sharples" supposed Director of this law firm.

Barrys communication is next to non existent, he doesn't pick up his phone lines and it sometimes takes him over a week to reply to emails, somewhat even delaying his own deadlines, but thats ok because it suits Barry.

Barry also seems to decide as and when proposed agreements get adhered to or not, once again without communication and most importantly I have now got enough written evidence to prove misconduct and foul play from Mr Sharples.

I will be contacting the SRA to start a complaint and investigation into Mr Sharples ethics and misconduct.

Update - Tuesday 8th July 4pm

After Freeths reply to my original statement, I can indeed confirm I am not a client of yours, but I am on the receiving end of your services and therefore my review is valid. It is honest feedback based on my current experiences with one of your Directors and his practices.

Further more, due to Mr Sharples unwillingness to provide a simple complaints procedure or even complaints handler information, after 4 attempts to request this information only to be met by resistance and deflection I have now put my bit together for the SRA and we shall let them deal with my evidence in due course.

Just because I haven't instructed your firm as a client of yours doesn't mean that my direct contact and dealings with Mr Sharples are irrelevant.

Positive Experience- Divorce/ Financial Consent Order

Divorce is difficult but the experience I had with Freeths was positive. Danielle and Irpreet were handling my case. My aim was to get through the divorce as quickly as possible and to minimise cost. The advice and strategy that Irpreet and Danielle suggested was realistic, given their experience, and they steered me to a successful outcome. The timescales they gave were accurate and they responded quickly to emails. This was my first time going through this process, I did have an idea how lengthy and convoluted the divorce process is, so I was very fortunate to have solicitors that didn’t take me for a ride. I would recommend their services.

Too big to care or even the courtesy of reply

We have been waiting on a reply from Freeth's now for over a fortnight and are not even able to get an acknowledgement that they are have received the documents. No replies, no courtesy, no consideration. Huge cost incurred because of their failure to offer the very basics in even returning calls to my solicitor. Extremely disappointed and continuing to suffer the financial impact of their apparent apathy and lack of interest or courtesy.
-----
Once the delays/non acknowledgment my solicitor had been experienced had been escalated to the complaints team an immediate response was received, for which I am extremely grateful. The matter, once flagged was handled with urgency and care. A specific thank you to Kayleigh who expedited the matter professionally.
I hope my adjustment of the star rating reflects my appreciation.

Highly recommend Demi at Freeths

I can’t recommend Freeths highly enough.Demi and her colleagues were fantastic dealing with my medical negligence claim. I suffer with anxiety, so was unsure at the beginning if I would go ahead with the claim. I’m really pleased I did, and my anxieties were dealt with really well. I can’t thank Freeths enough, and I would definitely recommend them.

I would highly recommend Freeths

I would highly recommend Freeths, whom I instructed following a breach in duty of care and negligence in my mental health care. Sonya was incredibly reassuring, responsive to any communication and offered solid legal advice that led to a positive outcome. I found working with Sonya extremely validating of my experiences and she worked with me with a great awareness of being trauma informed, I valued that greatly. Many thanks to Sonya and the wider Freeths team.

Highly recommend!

I used Freeths for a personal injury accident insurance claim. Freeths was recommended to me by a friend after I had issues using solicitors provided by RCN, and I’m so pleased I made the switch! Katie Shaw has been wonderful throughout. Excellent communication - Katie was organised and she always kept me updated about my claim. After a very very slow start to my claim with RCN, with Freeths things moved much faster thanks to Katie. Katie was empathetic and kind, and I felt comfortable talking to her about traumatic & emotionally challenging events. Katie always explained everything in a way I could understand; she gave impartial advice and was always transparent. I felt Katie really cared about my case and wanted the best outcome for me. I would not hesitate to recommend Freeths.

Recommendation for Freeths

Having approached Freeths regarding the possibility of submitting a medical negligence claim I was warned that this could be a lengthy and painstaking process. In the event, Freeths took all the pains and all I had to contribute was the patience required until the claim was brought to a successful conclusion thanks to their expertise. Catherine Bell kept me informed at every stage of the claim and following my experience I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Freeths to anyone considering such a claim.

Positive and helpful experience

I spoke to Danielle twice now over the phone in relation to my personal situation. She was very punctual each time with our calls, withheld the upmost professionalism, listened to all I had to say and gave me advice to enable me to move forward. I highly recommend Danielle and Freeths as a whole.

A fantastic service from Catherine Bell

A fantastic service from Catherine Bell at Freeths. Having contacted a few solicitors regarding a clinical negligence claim Catherine immediately gave confidence. Throughout the whole process (which latest about 6 years) Catherine expertly guided us through a very complicated process, coordinating (what felt like countless!) expert witness reports; and keeping us informed of what was happening through the entire process. This led to a settlement that will be sufficient to cover the future care needs. Thank you from all members of my family for helping us through a very troubling process and leading to a result that will provide comfort, and brings closure to a very troubling period of time for all involved.
