I have been working with Garton Jones to rent my flat for 15 years. First of all I like the vibes of the office. They are kind, easy, good willed and helpful. Have seen many property managers over the... See more

Best agent ever Alizée Montegu
Honest Alizée Montegu is one of the best agents I’ve worked with over the 4 years I’ve been in the UK. She’s a hard worker and replies even off working hours. She’s the best not even one of the best.
Thanks,
Mo
Didn’t want to help despite cctv available
A different review to normal but one that shows their helpfulness (or lack of it).
September 26th. My car was parked outside late. A brand new BMW M3. When I returned to it, I saw it had been broken in using electronic devices and multiple things stolen within. Luckily had a special immobiliser that stopped the car driving away despite them being able to start it up.
This all happened under their cctv… right outside their door!
I was given the mobile number and name (Anne) who was head concierge.
Multiple times I had spoken, called and texted promised footage to be removed until she then decided to go blank on me.
A £76,000 car about to be stolen right outside their premises all under cctv and they didn’t help. The guard at time even showed me my car on cctv and said it’s been recorded but he can’t go back as it’s Anne’s responsibility.
You would think they would have an interest in helping since any customer of theirs or their own staff could be targeted by this ring of car thieves using sophisticated devices to have car usually gone in moments.
Been clearing files and saw the original compliment slip with details and reminded me how poor this was to not help.
We advise you to avoid Garton Jones
Garton Jones crystalizes all that's wrong with the UK property market. They might be OK to deal with if you are a foreign landlord focused on squeezing as much profit from your tenants as possible, but our experience has illustrated how bereft of corporate values Garton Jones is.
We have a foreign employee who is in London to do a PhD. Not being familiar with the predatory nature of local rental practices, she thought signing a tenancy agreement through an agent would be a safer way to find accommodation. Shortly after paying the second of two 6-month instalments on her rent, she was issued with a Section 21, giving her 2 months to vacate the premises. As she had just paid over £11,500 in rent, this came as quite a shock. She wrote to the agency to try to figure out why she was being asked to leave so soon after paying 6-month’s rent up front. The Hong Kong-based Chinese landlord's reply was very blunt: The tenant was paying below market rates now that the market had picked up and he wanted more money. Apparently, in the UK property market, signing a 12-month lease is no guarantee you'll be able to stay 12 months, and the odious Section 21, which even the government recognizes needs to be changed, means that you cannot rely on a landlord to honour the term of the tenancy.
This stress was confounded within 24 hours by Garton Jones agents bombarding our employee with demands she allow them to show the apartment to new tenants. When she protested that she was busy writing a thesis, they told her she was contractually obliged to do so. It’s quite ironic that someone can be accused of not meeting their tenancy obligations when they have already paid the full term of their rent. Garton Jones agents did absolutely nothing to assist our employee find alternative accommodation. If they had had any gumption, empathy, or instinct for sound business practise, it might have occurred to them to offer her some alternatives from the property they had on their books, but clearly that was beyond their imagination.
It took five weeks to extract from the landlord/Garton Jones the rebate on the over-payment our employee made so that she could secure alternative accommodation, during which time she was subjected to constant requests by Garton Jones for her to allow new tenants to come into her hat to view the apartment. This involved multiple emails, in response to which Garton Jones procrastinated and prevaricated, repeatedly asking our employee for bank details they already had. On the phone, they were rude and evasive. Our advice would be, if you absolutely have to be in London, to avoid dealing with Garton Jones.
Total nightmare trying to get deposit back
Worst experience ever getting our deposit back - we moved out of the property over a month ago and have not received a check out report or any correspondence about when we can expect our deposit to be returned despite chasing multiple times. Henry has been completely incompetent and giving vague excuses, he's now stopped replying to us entirely.
We are now having to raise a dispute via TDS for the £2600 they owe us as they won't respond.
Terrible letting agency - BEWARE if renting from them.
Amazing service
Amazing service, professional and friendly staff. Darya is such a helpful person . Recommended them for many friends looking for properties in the area.
Outstanding property management during…
Outstanding property management during our tenancy at Chelsea Bridge Wharf. Stephanie Louis-Fernand has made it an absolute joy working with the Garton Jones team at Chelsea Bridge Wharf. Very responsive and efficient. Always goes above and beyond ensuring outstanding customer service. I look forward to working with the team at CBW again!
I had a really nice experience with Garton Jones Chelsea Bridge Wharf
I had a really nice experience with Garton Jones Chelsea Bridge Wharf. Without them, I could not even think about finding the place. Their response was really fast and helped perfectly. Especially Charlotte and Darya. Big thanks to them. Charlotte handled all of my issues and I really appreciate her. They are professional and kind. Whenever I found some issues or curies, they handled them kindly and quickly. I will definitely use this agency again and recommend it to my friends for sure.
Unprofessional and claiming a ridiculous amount from the deposit
If I could select a 0 star I would. Unprofessional at all level when it comes to sending the deposit back: unable to advise the landlord who claimed the whole deposit for missing items that were in a different place in the flat (so not even double checking the pictures from the check in check out reports), asking money for items like toilet brushes that we threw after moving in for hygienic reasons, claiming a ridiculous amount for scratches on the floor like the landlord will renovate the flooring with our money. It took more than 20 days after we moved out to receive the checkout inventory and now it’s been over a month that we’re still waiting for the deposit back. During our tenancy in Chelsea Bridge Wharf, with a 2 years contract and a 12 months break clause, the agency asked multiple times to do sales viewing in the flat during Covid, and threatening us that the landlord might kick us out after the break clause if we don’t accept to do the viewing! And this only after the start of the tenancy. They’re quick to make you sign and pay, but slow for all the rest. The property managers Valerija and Charlotte have been unprofessional by delaying the whole deposit return process, not even a manager to speak to. Just unqualified people to deal with.

I had a great experience with Garton Jones at Chelsea Bridge Wharf. I would particularly like to thank Charlotte Edney for her outstanding support and timely responses to my queries.
GJ Chelsea Bridge Wharf Avoid
GJ Chelsea Bridge Wharf - I would urge you not to do business w them as a landlord or tenant. After 15 yrs of doing business together, in the last two years they have become very rude , in particular two males working there, one in a senior role. They “managed” our property only to neglect the tenant for years and as a result left me in £1000s in damages given the tenants disgruntled manner. Please avoid at all costs as a landlord and tenant.
Garton Jones is easily one of the most…
Garton Jones is easily one of the most unprofessional and honestly incompetent estate agencies out there.
From the beginning the agent I had did not even understand how an offering process works and how a move in should be organised. I had to chase consistently to understand where to pick up the keys, if the move in date was accepted, if the contracts had been signed… nothing was ever communicated. it was unnecessarily painful and stressful. Also part of my move in I had two conditions to have the wardrobe doors fixed (only storage area in the flat which was unusable in its condition) and some broken items removed. Needless to say neither was done prior to my move in. The wardrobe got fixed in month 5 out of my 8 months of tenancy after being repeatedly advised that the door mechanism was no longer manufactured. No surprise that 5 months into the tenancy the manufacturers attended and were surprised to hear about this. Apparently this could have easily been fixed had anyone actually called them. Instead Garton Jones sent a stream of random handymen to my flat (mid pandemic) to see if they can fix it before choosing to actually contact the manufacturers (cost savings?). They couldn’t, but I did have the pleasure of feeling very uncomfortable in my own home due to all these visiting strangers.
From property managers, to managing director, the staff at Garton Jones has no issue with delivering the most appalling service this industry has yet seen. They seem clueless at best as to what they actually have to do and offended when asked to actually provide the service they’re paid to.
I tried to offer feedback early on and was in fact rewarded with an email from the MD telling me off, apparently his staff not doing their job is normal and it’s rude to expect different.
Now to add to this dreadful experience I am also being advised I owe part of my deposit, for cleaning nonetheless, although Garton Jones had no qualms with letting me move in mid pandemic in a flat that had NOT BEEN CLEANED AT ALL.
Disgusting disgusting disgusting.
If you’re a landlord or a tenant I suggest any other agency will be at least a bit better than this one.
Also worth nothing the almost ‘unrealistic’ amount of positive reviews this company has received clustered on very specific dates… I’m suspicious of this improvement seeing that just at the beginning of this year it was barely scoring a 2.5 on trustpilot.
First property letted with GJ & impressed
I used Garton Jones to rent out my first property and the whole process was seamless and was made very easy for me. Very good service from everyone I dealt with at GJ. I have only been using GJ for a short while but hope my good experience continues. I would recommend.
