NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE…

I found the dental council to be not fit for purpose.
Despite my giving them a lot of written evidence rebukig a corrupt dentist they just sat on the case for over a year , and then told me the case was closed.
I find them to be lazy amateurs.

Absolutely vile organisation

Absolutely vile organisation. They screw the lowest paid members of the dental team for a fee that they can’t afford and make it nearly impossible to get back on the register if you want the privilege of being able to work in a low paid skivvy job . This self serving organisation should be abolished.

Just to add ...

To be quite clear:

Extractive orthodontistry is mutilation.
Mutilation of children is abuse.
GDC condones & supports this abusive practice.

I have the right to say this because I was an unwilling child victim of such abuse.

He did work on my teeth as a child 25 years ago and he ruined my teeth. My story is a long one but he actually drilled holes in my teeth unnecessarily of which I paid the price for in pain and money as an adult. Glad to see the law finally caught up with him.

Not fit to regulate UK dentists

I was harmed by a dentist who left cuts and scratches all over the backs of my front teeth during what he claimed would be an entirely safe cleaning procedure. Just before that he had tried to persuade me to have my teeth filed down which I refused multiple times.

After the procedure he denied that there was any damage, even though the damage is very easy to see with the naked eye and has been confirmed by other dentists since then.

When dealing with my complaint he changed his story and contradicted himself multiple times, making statements that can’t logically be true. For example, he first admitted that he may have caused some minor damage, but then claimed that it was impossible for any damage to have occurred and that he could prove that to me by cleaning my teeth again.

I raised a concern with the GDC who are supposed to regulate the dental professionals in the UK. They never contacted me to confirm my statement, ignored my questions about whether they needed further proof of the damage, and after 10 months closed the case telling me that he’d done nothing wrong. In their decision they quote an “independent” clinical advisor: another dentist who is sent the information of the case, including the identity of their colleague who is being accused.

The ”independent” advisor entirely ignored my statement and the evidence that I submitted and accepted everything that their colleague had said at face value, quoting him word for word. They claim that their colleague used the right instrument for the cleaning procedure but they don’t explain how they reached that conclusion, it’s simply stated as a fact. I have contacted the GDC several times asking how they reached this conclusion and they ignored me every single time, despite their website claiming that if you’re unhappy with a decision you can let them know and they would explain the reasoning behind that decision: this is a lie like many other things they claim on their website.

The “independent” advisor further states that the instrument can cause minor damage (proving that their colleague lied when he claimed the opposite multiple times) but will not cut the enamel: which is funny because I have very distinct cuts into my enamel and one of my teeth is now thinner and shorter so clearly a cutting drill was used. But, the “independent” advisor continues, their colleague didn’t have to obtain my consent to remove my enamel: I had already consented to the cleaning procedure which apparently involves enamel removal but he didn’t have to tell me that. What?? I specifically asked right before the procedure and was told that it is entirely safe for my enamel; this is the only reason I agreed to it.

The GDC is clearly not a fair and unbiased regulator, just look at their Google reviews score or the multiple criticisms online of their fitness to practice process. If you ever have a dispute with a doctor you won’t believe the amount of lies and gaslighting you’ll encounter and how the authorities will always side with the doctor. If you’re worried about being harmed, bring a recording device with you: you are allowed to do so by UK law and you don’t have to tell the doctor about it. That’s the only way you can have an objective record of what happened and prove that you’re in the right if need be.

It is morally unacceptable to suspend…

It is morally unacceptable to suspend Dr Amir, who helps people with chronic diseases. Untreated TMD has drastic consequences to health (just a few: head, neck, spine diseases, disabilities, autoimmune diseases, unbearable pain, which can go as far as suicidal thoughts or attempts if TMD untreated and ill health is unbearable). This area of dentistry rapidly has to be learned by professionals in the U.K.! Dr Amir has to be reinstated and an official complaint should go to the PRESS (BBC, newspapers etc).

Dr Amir

If the GDC were wise they would have ignored Dr Amir, leaving him to continue to help people at his Putney practice. Their attempts to find fault with Dr Amir's wholistic treatment has caused them all manner of contortion and expense. The spotlight is now on them. They are not a pretty sight.
The expediency of orthodontic extractions on little girls whose mouths are deemed too small is tantamount to Chinese footbinding and leads to neurological damage in later life, but who cares, by then, about a bunch of ageing women in poor health? Give the poor dears some happy pills.
The GDC is holding back advances in dentistry in the U.K. whilst countries in Australasia, Eastern Europe and North America streak ahead. The GDC think they can pander to people's vanity by providing dentists who can offer people cosmetic dentistry (if they can afford it). Long term health damage can be the result. Panic by the GDC can be the only explanation for their behaviour. Now their survival as a 300 staffed bureaucracy (what do they do all day?) is open to question. If they had kept quiet they might just have got away with it.
The internet has allowed the general public (especially women with chronic health issues) to exchange knowledge and armed with this information we seek out people who can heal, like Dr Amir. We know what we are doing when we approach people like Amir. The GDC and PSA talk between themselves but have not been listening to us. The same thing is happening with NICE guidelines on ME & CFS. Government funded agencies ignore people with chronic illness. They are more concerned to protect their jobs and pensions. In the U.K., especially, they are soooooo out of date - the rest of the world is laughing at us.

Dr Amir - Fibromyagia

Following a period of treatment with Dr Amir, my wife has totally recovered after almost 20 years of illness with Fibromyalgia that had left her unable to work despite the many medications she was prescribed. She lost the best years of her life and her situation appears to have been caused by a dentist pulling a number of her teeth out, effectively shrinking her jaw.
We have a very handicapped son and looking after both my son and my wife whilst going to work full time to earn a living has been quite an ordeal. Someone is responsible for our losses and the subsequent mental stress incurred.
I fail to understand why you, as a governing body, allow such treatment whilst condemning Dr Amir, a dentist who completely disagrees with the extraction of teeth. I can only perceive that you are a corrupt organisation that exists to prevent patients from obtaining proper treatment to recover and be free of the shackles of chronic illness.
I sincerely hope that a high court judge will see the truth, ban you from your evil agenda and restore Dr Amir's reputation, which it appears you have gone out of your way to destroy.

Dr Amir must be reinstated - denial of treatment to patients is unacceptable

It is unacceptable that Dr Amir - dentist based in Putney has been suspended based on unsubstantiated claims and hundreds of patient reviews have been ignored.

I will be happy to provide testimony in support of Dr Amir and his claims. I 100% support Dr Amir. He is a professional, ethical and patient centred practitioner.

His treatment transformed my symptoms and lived experience. I had been dismissed by many health professionals who didn't understand ME/fibromyalgia. He deserves to be treated with respect and integrity. I reiterate that I will be happy to provide evidence in any form in support of Dr Amir.

Regarding Dr Amir

Regarding Dr Amir, and his dental practice, the GDC have not acted with integrity or medical responsibility. Thei GDC claims against Dr Amir are absurd and highly suspicious considering Dr Amir has cured hundreds of patients of medically diagnosed conditions with an effective approach that does not require pharmaceuticals thereby saving all these patients who were suffering, AND saving them from the side effects of heavily prescribed pharmaceuticals. The GDC is only interested in ensuing patients have drugs forced down their throats, the GDC is not interested in proper treatment, care and effectively curing patients.

Regarding Dr. Amir’s suspension

I used to suffer from balance issue, dizziness, terrible fatigue and I couldn’t turn my neck. I completely recovered from all these symptoms with Dr Amir‘s treatment and yet I’m shocked to find that the GDC hearing panel found Dr Amir guilty about these very symptoms. I have read many patient testimonies from other patients about their recovery from similar symptoms. I do not know how the GDC is blind to this evidence. Shame on the GDC.

The GDC must reinstate Dr.Amir

I was shocked and saddened to learn of the GDC’s inexplicable decision to suspend Dr.Amir. This kindly man is not only an esteemed dentist in his own right, but has for many decades tried to bring a holistic approach to improve the overall health condition of his patients, many of whom have benefited greatly.

I have personally heard dozens of positive testimonies from his patients (while in the practice waiting room). Along with his many patients, myself and my family have greatly benefited from his experience, expertise and advice (including his expert opinion to minimise / avoid tooth extraction if possible). My wife has seen huge benefits with her gait, breathing and neck and shoulder pain as a result of Dr.Amir’s complementary approach. No other medical, physiotherapist or dental practitioners she had previously seen were able to diagnose or bring her back to full health.

Dr.Amir’s approach clearly works for many of his patients and his decades of experience should be lauded by the GDC as furthering the reputation of the profession. Why should Dr. Amir not be allowed to bring a more holistic approach to the practice of dentistry? It would greatly benefit the profession and is in line with how the general field of medicine and health is developing (i.e, emphasis on long term health by getting to the root of the problem, rather than short term fixes focussed solely on alleviating current symptoms of a deeper underling issue).

The unjust and inexplicable decision to suspend Dr.Amir must be immediately reversed. His many patients and the community around his practice urgently need him to be able to practice and look after their dental and overall health needs.

I am very sorry and devastated...

I am very sorry and devastated for the situation Dr.Amir has been facing. Not only did I send him many complicated patients that I couldn't treat as a therapist, but as a patient myself, having my teeth straightened and jaw aligned made me a healthy and pain free body. I cannot thank him enough for his remarkable and respectful work and he is a generous and kind person to care all his patients, a real doctor.

His approach extends to holistic and general health, not only the dental fields that no one can do! The GDC should know how many difficult and incurable illness cases he has helped with to return to a healthy body.

I really hope that his suspension will be lifted and his practice will be reinstated soon.

I am so deeply saddened by the GDC's…

I am so deeply saddened by the GDC's decision to suspend Dr. Amir.

Review after review shows people genuinely benefitting from his treatments as I have done also. Why does this count for nothing? Where are we meant to turn now?

Dr. Amir is in private practice and hired by people who are there in the main because they have been failed by everybody else in the medical professions and their conditions are debilitating.

Dr. Amir doesn't write people off and prescribe painkillers sentencing people to live half-lives at best... he has thought about and studied health from a holistic stand-point and has pioneered treatments that have brought long dreamed for improvements to so many within a private practice.

Why can't he be allowed to continue? What is this about really? Does the GDC operate for the benefit of patients? For whose benefit is his suspension?

Suspension of Dr. Amir

I was devastated when I heard that Dr. Amir was suspended from the GDC. He was always so professional and successfully treated my neurological symptoms within a short space of time in 2005. Unfortunately, I was unable to finish my treatment as I went to Australia. I now have neurological symptoms with long Covid and dental issues. I am relying on Dr. Amir's dental treatment to fix this. Please GDC reconsider your stance on this.
